I have never had a good printer until about a year ago when I bought a £40 HP 4480 when I saw it…read moreheavily discounted on Amazon. For too long the world of home printing has been a shoddy one of slower printers with low quality resolution, so I am glad that this printer has been able to change my views. Unfortunately what hasn't changed is the fact that ink cartridges are a total rip off. I can never justify paying about £30 for a colour ink cartridge! Fortuantely, that is where places like this come in! The store has a wide range of cartridges for all priniters. The store is a bit basic in itself, but it isn't like you are going to be staying in there for long! The store offers an online service so you can pre order your cartridges or get them sent to you if you cant make it to the store which is handy! The store also offers a photocopying service and the ability to transfer pictures onto a wide range of products, but I have managed to steer myself away from so much tackiness! The best thing about this shop for me is the 10% student discount which makes my printing a much cheaper experience!

On the off chance I popped in here to see if there was any hope, and lo and behold there was! The guy behind the counter was really understanding of my lack of technical knowledge and said he would have a look and see what could be done. He said it might take a couple of days and there were no promises. Within 24 hours they called to say they had saved loads off my antique laptop onto pen drives and they were ready for collection. They didn't charge the earth either, and would highly recommend them for anyone as useless as me, who is now the queen of back-ups.

So I took it home and cleaned it up and I thought I will get it serviced, I did know the shop was there I went in to the shop and the staff was great came back in a hour and it (the Dyson) was like new again I will be back again great little shop

I'd just been told by another hardware shop up the road that they couldn't take out the defunct watch battery for me for insurance reasons which sounded excessive for my little old cheap watch. Admittedly I wasn't very au fait with all this because the need to replace a watch battery is an extremely rare occurrence for me. For some watches you do need a jeweller to take the battery out which is a different matter. Anyway I'd found the whole exchange frustrating so I wasn't hopeful when I went into AMC Service Centre. Totally different story, however, because the man smiled, immediately reached for a battery and sorted out the whole thing in no time, first checking if my watch needed a jeweller, immediately recommending somewhere if I did, all for £2.50. Otherwise, AMC Service Centre is a small, old fashioned sort of place that specialises in vacuum cleaner repairs and part with other hardware/electrical suppliers. If my experience is an indication of the rest the business it's a gem.

When…read moreI called about a week later, they said it would cost £160 to get fixed, £40 for a replacement hinge and £100 to repair something internally. I said I could not afford that at the moment and would take my computer and come back when I had the money. The man told me I could safely leave my computer with them until I had the money to fix it and this I did. When I got Christmas over I went back to the shop. I was told they didn't have my computer there but he would find out where it was and ring me. He didnt but I called in again and was told that it was up in their Glengormley warehouse and they would get it down for next week. Next week I called and the guy said he still hadn't received it back. I called the following week and he told me he had got it back but they couldn't fix it and there was no point in me taking it and he could sell me a second hand one. I told him no I wanted my own computer and would try elsewhere to get it fixed. He insisted that my computer was useless and not worth me taking back from him. I told him no I wanted my own computer. He told me to come back the following week. I came back the following week and was told he was waiting for a part for it from Dublin. I was baffled as they were not fixing it so what was the part. Anyway I was suspicious all along that they had before Christmas removed parts from my computer, ie dissected my computer and were now trying to put it together again. He told me he would ring me but of course he didn't so I called in the next week; another man was there who said nothing and just handed me back my computer. I dreaded what state it might be in. I took it to a repair agent, whom I knew to be reputable. He told me that whoever worked on it last had damaged the hard-drive beyond repair and that the motherboard was damaged. I was not surprised that the inside of my computer was destroyed and was dubious that the hard-drive was even mine. I suspect that after removing my good hard-drive and using it, they stuck an old faulty hard-drive into my computer, as my hard-drive was perfect when it went into their shop. I am writing this to warn others not to use these cheaters, who stole the hard-drive out of my computer and handed me back a computer which is scrap.

I…read morehave been here a lot of times because I am the worlds clumsiest man and have managed to drop/kick/spill water on every computer I've ever managed to have! The guys who work there are really, really helpful and always manage to fix any problems with my computer or die trying! Their prices are based on labour and parts supplied. They charge the parts to cost and the labour is always very reasonable. Its the type of place that's going to need people to return for their services so they don't want to annoy anyone or rip them off. I've had experiences with the larger chain store repair shops such as Tech Guys in PC world and it just doesn't compare for price and quality of service. Definitely recommended.

Lurking down this quiet corridor in Smithfield market is one of the better computer repair shops…read morearound. With computers being a bit of a 'dark science' for me I always felt a bit suspicious when in the past I was quoted certain amounts for repairs and replacement parts. Being baffled with jargon seemed to be the sales technique so it was with some trepidation I lugged my fried desktop down to them. The shop itself is quite big with a small 'internet area' for browsing etc and there was a fair selection of computers and accessories for sale. I basically wanted to see what could be salvaged off my hard drive and the guy said it would be a simple (woohoo) operation with no definite guaranteed outcome. A week later he rang me to say he'd got the hard drive out intact and I could simply pop it into my new desktop whenever I got one and the data should be there. Result especially as I thought I wouldn't be able to get the data off or would have to pay big money for an expensive salvage operation. Great service and very helpful, definitely worth the trip downtown. Pros: Clear talking jargon free staff. Cons: Not the easiest to find.

I immediately thought of the Repair Lounge down to the their catchy radio ads. First up, it's pretty easy to find, opposite the junction of Tates Avenue on the Lisburn Road. If you're driving park on one of the many side streets rather than trying to get a space on the Lisburn Road. The shop itself is minimal, you walk in and you are presented with platformed area, don't let this put you off, that's where the phone fixers sit. When I went in (about 3pm on a Monday) the two guys were noticeably busy, one on the phone and one in the middle of dissecting an iPhone but I waited patiently. Once they were free I asked how much and how long it would take to get my phone screen repaired. They then explained to me that it varied from £100 - £140 depending on the quality of the glass used for the screen. This didn't put me off as I expected it to be in that area. What did put me off was the wait - they explained that they had a huge back log of phones to repair and with Monday being delivery day I couldn't get it repaired straight away. This wait made me go somewhere else, but the experience wasn't bad at all. I understand that it's a skilled job to fix these devices and that Monday is their busiest day - especially after all the weekend smashes! Cool set up and really knowledgeable staff - I'll be back no doubt!
