Called yesterday after I heard a loud bang when I hit the button to lower garage door. It was solidly stuck and when I went inside and looked, the big spring had snapped in half. They set up a service appointment for today, called 20 minutes before and it took the techncian, Troy, 15-20 minutes to replace spring and make sure system worked fine. Troy was personable and answered all my questions. The charge was very reasonable. They were going to put me on the schedule the first day, they did not. The second day I was going to be first thing in the morning, received a call in the late evening saying the tech had his suspension go out. The third day I was supposed to be first thing on the schedule in the morning. 10 am I called and they were going to try and have someone out by 3. Rolling Garage door was stuck about 6 months after a repair by an unlicensed handyman. He installed a new spring after the old one had busted. Helotes Overhead had a man out the following morning. The problem was the new spring - too heave for a single door and it caused too much sideways tension on the tracks, bound up the wheels. I expected to replace the spring. Instead he was able to take the tension off the wheels by moving some pins? The rail was also missing a brace from the original installation. He added it. Now the door is aligned and tracks like new. these guys know what theyre doing. They're fast, hones and will save you money. read more

I contracted Helotes to replace 3 bay garage doors. Nathan, with whom I spoke, acted on my order quickly, was on property within 72 hours, bid the job the same day and was back on property to install the new doors within the week. After replacement, we realized the garage door trim color did not match the installed doors, and within 4 days they were back out to full paint the doors to match the trim. First, I am very pleased with the expense, work and the product. James (the young man who installed my new overhead garage door) had just the right amount of "Cool and Professionalism." Unfortunately, communication with the office (Joyce) was extremely poor. I had to call many times (after the initial home visit) to get a correct quote. At least 5 times and 4 weeks time. I never really got the exact quote that I needed either. Also, I was not told about a 3% charge to pay with debit card until it was time to pay. If I had been told sooner I could have gotten a money order and saved $33. I would loved to have dealt with the young man who initially came to my home but never spoke with him again. Even after asking to. I would tell a friend to use Helotes Overhead but it would come with a warning about service/communications. read more

They did a great job with the installation. It was not a normal garage, so they had to adapt some of the hardware to make it work. The only issue I had was they forgot to order windows and had to come back later and swap two panels out. But they made good on it. We called Helotes Overhead to check out our door opener that was sporadically working. They first corrected some faulty wiring but it still acted up. So Nathan opened it up and determined a problem with the circuit board was causing the problem. He also said that the door, which had a dent between the panels from an accident 5 years ago was putting a lot of stress on the opener. Bottom line, for a great price, we got a new door, LiftMaster opener and 3 remotes. So please give them a call for any garage door problems you may have. You won't be sorry. read more

Our garage door broke yesterday afternoon and we called the people who last serviced it, Helotes. The woman on the phone said someone would be out last night or early this morning. By one o'clock I got a call that the guards at our gated community would not admit the service tech because his drivers license was expired. The head of security checked and no one from the company had tried to get in. For the last two hours I have been calling the company and getting an answering machine but no one has called me back. This family owned company installed my garage door opener a year ago and the service was great. I had to call them back out for a repair due to lightning hitting my home causing the logic board of opener to go out. We had some scheduling problems due to various reasons and I wasn't too pleased with office staff lack of communication. However, the owner Nathan gave me a call and explained the situation and offered to come over personally to make the repair.
