Canele was okay, but the caramelization of the outer did not achieve the bitterness I desired. The texture was not as delicate. The outer was crunchy but I felt it was too thick. Taste of the interior was good and moist. I wished to have more rummy flavor. Dubai chewy cookie - It was chewy outside like mochi, but inside was runny with some crunchy pieces. Good, but did not have depths and layers that I desired. Overall, overpriced for what was offered. But nice place to take a break when walking in this pleasant neighbourhood!

It was also very light which was great as we had activities planned. We ordered it the day before and the cake tasted great the next day so easy to store leftovers. York Farmers Market got extra points for being an indoor market that opens year round and from Thu to Sunday. I never get to visit any of those farmer markets that only opens Saturdays. You can find butchers, fresh vegetables, tea shops, maple syrups, cheese and baked goods. Nothing compare to St. Lawrence Market but it doesn't have that touristy feel to it. I hope York Farmers Market will be around for another 50 years... but I won't be surprise next time when I drive by, it will be torn down to make way for more condos...

The service is consistently warm, and the pastry case is hard to resist. We've tried many of their cakes, and the blackcurrant queen cake is hands down our favorite--tart, elegant, and just sweet enough. Their salted caramel croissant is beautifully laminated and filled with just the right amount of caramel. In fact, their croissants across the board are solid--flaky, tender, and buttery without being greasy. The sourdough bread is excellent, and the espresso drinks are reliably strong and well-crafted. It may look like Paris inside, but don't let that inspire your inner Francophile--the staff are lovely, but no one's following your French. Still, this is the kind of place that keeps regulars coming back. We're definitely among them.

Outside of birthday, my partner, family and I do frequent Paris baguette, but with the price tag, I think it is only the most worthwhile to go when there's an ongoing promotion; otherwise, the items can be overall overpriced (ie a special drink at 10 dollars with tax, a donut at 8 with tax and a sandwich at 20 dollars with tax....these are way too much) Go in the morning for the freshest goods.
