I live in the Lake City neighborhood and as much as we would like to patron Hell Bent Brewery on Lake City Way, we can't. Hell Bent has "Concerts" at their location on Lake City. We live 3 blocks away. So you'd think, that for Sure the Noise wouldn't be a problem. Right? But When ever they have a "Concert" (mind you this is a small brewery with a parking lot which have bands play on weekends.These bands play outside, so that not only their patrons inside the bar can hear, but that their Parking Lot (filled with patrons) can hear the music as well. And this goes on for 5hrs. We live on 33rd, and every time they have a concert, they not only play for the Bar, but they play to the entire community!!! I Love Music!! But I can't love This Music! Most of the bands are bad, but the ones that are good are still ruined by how loud they choose to play the music! It's one thing to listen to good music, but it's a totally different animal to have a Car sitting outside your house blasting Ghetto Punk Rock. (Wouldn't even matter if the music was good! If we didn't pay for it, why should we be forced to listen to it in our own house!!) We shouldn't have to struggle trying to listen to and watch our tv without subtitles, and not being able to do so because the Bar 3 blocks away has decided to hold a Concert for their small venue like a stadium!! T hat is a little bit A lot Too Much!!! Soo, Dear Hellbent From the Lake City Community: We hope you get over yourselves soon, because your "Joy" is disrupting the entire Lake City Community!! Same as those Preachers dressed in purple shouting over a megaphone and speakers on the corner of Lake City and 130th who had the entire neighborhood calling 911, because it was soo intrusive. And what's funny is that You Guys called 911 about them too. (You told us) When you live 3 blocks away from a bar and it sounds like you're in the front row, there's something wrong there. Why should an entire community pay for your lack of effort in your Sound Department? Seems to me that it's You guys who should curb your sound rather than expecting the entire community to curb our routines in our own homes....just saying. I know, I sound like a Karen. And Maybe I am, but in this instance, we pay too much to live in a home that sounds like we live above a dive bar who take payment from a small handful of people at the Cost of an entire Community. This place has been a massive nuisance to the neighborhood this summer, I've given them the feedback, there are other reviews here about this, the noise disturbance hasn't changed and I will never frequent their business again. My neighbors and I have complained about the ridiculous level of noise at their summer events that last from like 12:00 or 1:00 ish in the afternoon to 10:30-11:00 pm at night. The bar is 2 massive blocks away from me and it's so loud that we can't sleep during the day, and we struggle at bedtime because it runs so late. The base vibrates in my body and leaves me nauseous all day. We avoid our balconies the entire day. I live on a top floor apartment that doesn't even face the restaurant. Also, the music and vocals are annoyingly horrendous. Keep in mind this is a TINY place that has one little stage in their lot, not a huge event. As someone who played live music for 15 years and understands sound engineering, I can verifiably tell you that I am not exaggerating lol. I believe live music is biologically so important for us to experience. I also know what's loud enough, what's too loud and how sound travels. Either the restaurant / bands don't understand sound engineering, or they could care less about the impact on the community while they milk a buck. Either way, it's unacceptable and it's creating a LOT of unnecessary stress for lots of people. It's fking atrocious. DO BETTER. read more

Hellbent has been one of my go-to local brew pubs for a number of years. They offer no food, but they have great food trucks that frequent the establishment, and they have excellent brews of their own making. They have a lot of big screens spread throughout the upstairs and downstairs, showing all manner of games, so you're sure to find what you want to watch. It can get really noisy and crowded on occasion, especially on weekend evenings. Their parking lot is tiny, but you can usually find additional parking on Lake City Way in front of and north of the brewery. There's also a small amount of parking on 133rd (to the north), a short walk from the brewery. Staff is good-natured, helpful and responsive. read more

We drive by here often and always talk about stopping in but haven't done so yet. We also have read on the outside reader board that the place is dog-friendly and we usually didn't have our dog with us. Tonight was different. We had the dog, time and were going to pass this place on the way home after a day on Vashon. We parked in the lot and saw the Buddah Bruddah Food Truck outside. We'd been wanting to try this food for a bit so we were happy about that. We went inside at the bar and I ordered a Hellbent Pilsner Pint and my wife noticed there is an upstairs area that was well laid out. This was Friday and the place was pretty full so we grabbed the last 2 seats upstairs and my wife went to order from the food truck. Unfortunately, the food truck closed up at 8 pm. She walked up to it 5 minutes too late and we were out of luck. I'd love to see multiple food trucks here like Cairn Brewery frequently has up in Kenmore or at least have the one here open later. Inside, there were dogs all over the place and on leashes and they were very well behaved. One guy even had an orange tabby cat on his shoulders that was super friendly. I enjoyed my pilsner and our dog got see other dogs here. The place has a really cool and friendly vibe. The bartenders were super nice and attentive. The other customers we spoke with here were friendly and very nice. We really like this place and will return. What an amazing brewery. We stopped by with our friends here and they have a lovely setup. If you want to just grab a beer and chill stay on the lower level and if you want to play board games or pool or just hang out go up the stairs. They have a great tap selection. We ordered their Vienna Lager and Nitro Coffee Porter and they were delicious. They usually have a good food truck schedule but you are free to bring in your own food as well. We did have to wait ~15 min on a Friday evening (~5:40pm) but that should be expected most places when the sun is out! Buddha Bruddah was a fantastic food truck with so many options, making it one of my favorite trucks to see now! Only downsides are the limited parking lot spaces and waiting in line for drinks (since they do have a large capacity to get through). The place is very dog friendly. And also people friendly. Locals actually talk to one another here! Which, come to think of it, is probably in no small part due to the dogs... Pretty cool space to grab a beer and hang out! LOCATION & PARKING // Located right off Lake City Way, it's pretty accessible and hard to miss. There are a few parking spots in their lot but there's also a ton of parking on the street if you drive. AMBIANCE // The actual brewery is a lot bigger than it looks from the street. In addition to indoor seating next to the bar, there is ample space outside on the patio if you want to hang out there. Don't worry, there are TV screens outside as well. I came on a Friday night and things were busy but not too crowded. (To be fair, it wasn't a game night.) My friend and I sat at a picnic table outside for a few hours and there was some good traffic. It feels very casual and relaxing. There are also a TON of dogs hanging out here. ...not complaining. DRINK // I got the PEACH IPA. It wasn't bad but maybe not my favorite beer ever. It was quite thick. I drank it all and it was fine but I wouldn't get it again. That's not the brewery's fault though. SERVICE // Service are breweries are hit and miss. They expressed their kindness by sheltering a number of dogs when the neighboring Dog Resort suffered a fire. We hosted our wedding welcome party in the upstairs loft and our guests had an excellent time. I love that Hellbent has come to the area and has three of my favorite things, beer, a parking lot and a lack of people under the age of 21. I know that many people enjoy drinking beer with their children, but I don't have children and I don't. They do allow dogs, which also aren't my favorite, but usually less annoying and better behaved. Its large enough that you can avoid them if need be. It's also great that they are open every day of the week and have later hours than a lot of local breweries. Food trucks are available most days. The upstairs is also a nice, providing a lot of extra space, including some more intimate seating, a pool table and overlook to the bar below. There's a nice outside area for warm days, and a great place to sit with your dog. They also have more than one bathroom which is something you think every brewery would have, but they do not. There's currently a coupon in the Chinook book if you want to save some money on a tasting. I attended a great yoga class here, put on by Just add Yoga, as well as a fabulous 2 year anniversary party. There are tons of beers on tap, including some guest taps and ciders, so everyone is likely to find something they enjoy. My current favorites are the cranberry wheat and the Dang, Citra IPA. Every employee has been very helpful, even when super busy. It's nice to be able to get a growler or take home some canned beer to go as well. read more

Hellbent is a great local bar. They're right on Lake City Way, so it's easy to access. They have a private parking lot and street parking if that gets full. And trust me, it gets full. And for good reason. The vibe of the place is amazing. There's lots of seating, big tvs for the games, an upstairs loft with arcade games and board games, and a superb outside patio. Their beer selection is fantastic, and so cheap! They brew in house so they're able to offer pretty decently priced beer. You can also bring your pup in with you! Since they don't sell food, they have various food trucks placed outside each day. They have a schedule, so check their website for the schedule of food trucks. Love this brewery! They have a varied list of brews from which to choose including cider, and they have slushies made with hard seltzer. The brewery is a comfortably decorated two story space with pool table upstairs, and they have a patio in the back. They rotate food trucks in that pair well with any of their brews. One of the owners is also the same of Frelard Tamales, so at different times you can enjoy one of the best tamales with your beverages. They occasionally host events or theme parties. An example was this past weekend when they celebrated Pride. Frelard Tamales was on hand also selling Alexandra's Macrons and Pride tshirts. The brewery was selling Pride pint glasses with a part of the proceeds being donated. They had mariachi and live performers. Dog friendly, and an everyone welcome kind of place. Nothing like a local brewery that knows what they are doing. Charming location and cool swag.

Wow, this is a very impressive place already and they've only been open a couple weeks. Their soft opening was evidently quite a success, but we didn't finally make it in here until their grand opening, which just happened Saturday night. It was completely packed. I can't remember what this building used to be; maybe it was vacant. But ladies and gentlemen, when they say to you now that it is a brewery, you will agree. It is every inch a watering hole and beer production facility at this point. Quite a sight. This is a stretch of Lake City Way that is not really known for its reserved sophistication; in fact, every nice new business through here will help bring up the average. The two breweries now on LCW go a long way to bring families and nice people out on the town. The other brewery down the street welcomes kids, but I am 99% sure that Hellbent is 21+. There's a decent amount of parking outside, and around back. They're clearly ADA-compliant, with a long, low-sloped ramp out front that looks like a new addition, and two prime spots up front turned over to chair users. Guess who parked in one of the chair-user spots this past Saturday night? Somebody in a brand-new BMW SUV that was withOUT a visible placard. Still, Hellbent deserves full credit for making the spaces available and adding the ramp. It's a very polished and professional presentation right from the first impression you get outside. In fact, before you even park, you can tell the place is serious. The building has been re-sided and there's a beautifully lit giant new sign facing the street. It's almost like the type of sign a fine-dining place would have put up years ago, with lots of small soft-light bulbs outlining the silhouette of the sign. Once you're inside, it's kind of hard to believe this place was ever anything else. There's highboy and table seating here and there, and dogs are welcome. On one wall, there are huge overstuffed leather couches that look like they belong in a gentleman's club. There's a staircase to a mezzanine that overlooks the main room, and the bar faces everything at a 45-degree angle. You get a nice variety of defined spaces that don't take up a lot of area, and even when it's crowded, people move easily around the building. Behind the bar, there's a big series of windows that showcase gigantic, gleaming, stainless steel tanks in the brewhouse. From the taproom and the brewhouse, big roll-up doors lead out to a nice patio space carved out of the parking lot. The patio space has picnic tables, and often hosts a food truck. For their grand opening, they had a hot dog cart, which seemed oddly understated compared to all the fancy touches indoors, but that's alright. They have scheduled some more-ambitious food trucks already, so they are not messing around with their partnerships there at all. It's kind of hard to believe how nice this place already is inside. The flat screens everywhere, the nice couches, the custom-made heavy barstools, the reclaimed timbers everywhere in the bar, taproom, and mezzanine, the gigantic brew system already in place. They even have murals decorating the backwalls and the staircase, and the tapline conduit has stencils and a potted plant on it. If it can be decorated or otherwise done up in here, it is decorated or done up. Best of all, though, the staff are nice and the beer is good. The bartenders are mostly young, but they're enthusiastic and right on point. I didn't ask them any beer questions, so I don't know how their beer training stacks up, but I'm sure it's fine. They've opened this place with a very limited lineup--an IPA, a pale, a red, something else. There were about 10 guest taps pouring, virtually of them great beers, and most from great breweries. Very nice choices, and clearly they have the trust of their peers. They ought to--their brewmaster has been a pro in this area for two decades. The IPA had a ton of fresh, clear hop flavors, and it was flawless. The pale could have used little more flavor but it was a well-made beer. I'll definitely be back to try everything else they make. read more

May you have an opportunity to visit this bastion of awesomeness. Yes, it's on Lake City, the bastion of.. typically not awesomeness. What you get here is an old school watering hole, a place with beers and really nothing else... except for the food truck that's normally parked right out back.. So walking in, you order at the counter, and you WAIT at the counter, and you get your beer at the counter. Which means, you bus your own drink, at the counter. Did I mention, it's best to start at the counter. it's pretty obvious where you order, it's the section of the counter, that is slightly lower. Once you have beer in hand, it's TV, couches, tables, and on a good day, the outside doors are open to more seating and the food truck. So really, they have a solid set of beers that fit just about anyone's needs or tastes. I have never been disappointed. Remember, it's a dog friendly place, so if you dislike dogs, then don't come here. I love coming here, and it's okay to come to lake city, because you certainly will get your drink fix. read more
