Unfortunately this one was pretty disappointing, even though every person who entered had to pay $35 for a wristband to gain access to this haunted house and the others. There wasn't too much effort put in to the decorations, and a lot of the actors, just like in the other haunted houses, were there to scream loudly and that's it. There wasn't a storyline at all. There was one point in time where I walked the wrong way and one of the clown ladies guided me, which I appreciated, so I wasn't missing out on any of the haunted house experience. I just wish Six Flags put more thought and sprinkled some love into every haunted house, if people are required to pay an extra $35 on top of a $77 ticket.

I'll start with the fabulous things about this space, which are the aesthetics: the decorations are absolutely on point, and the whole place really looks like a hospital-turned-asylum, which is a really intriguing concept. Unfortunately, there are more negatives than positives: There were probably 7-8 scarers in the whole haunted house, and the scariest thing they did was burn everyone's eardrums by wailing. Six Flags Fright Fest is so expensive and freezing, and everyone's waiting in line for so long, so it's sad to experience a cheap walkthrough where people are just screaming and breathing deeply from behind a railing. However, if you have children, this is a good experience for them, because they most likely won't be too terrified of it.

It was such a fun time and definitely worth it to get the ultimate fast passes-especially during the weekend when it's absolutely packed. Even tho some of the rides don't take fast pass like American Eagle, we found on a Saturday it was 100% worth it as far as lines go. I have ranked the rides below according to how much I loved them. 1. Goliath 9.5 2. Raging Bull 8.5 3. American Eagle 8 4. X flight 7 5. Rakshasa 7.5 6. Demon 7 7. Whizzer 5 8. Viper 3 9. Rue La Dodge 2 The $35 all you can eat dining wristband was worth it if you want to try all of the vendors. We got burgers, chicken tenders and a chicken wrap. So for us two it was well worth the price! Stopped and also got a coffee as well as a few dipping dots which weren't included in the wristband and cost $13 and $8. I think it's definitely worth it. If you're coming with the family on a weekend to get the fast pass, I know it's a little expensive, but it really does give you the flexibility to explore almost all of the rides and not spending time waiting in line lines! But if you come fairly often and have a season pass, then I guess the lines may be worth it.

On 8/22/26, I went to Six Flags Great America in Gurnee and discovered those benefits were gone. Yet somehow, my monthly payment never got lost. Funny how that works. While trying to figure out what happened, I was advised to "read the fine print" for this season and was also told that paying monthly for the current dining and drink plans really isn't worth it. Well, THAT says a lot. My original receipt shows a MEMBER DINING - All Parks Add-On for $12.99 per month, plus an initiation fee. I've continued paying, so when exactly did the benefits I purchased disappear, and how was I properly notified? And $20 for a paper cup drink plan?! That cup better refill itself, follow me around the park AND hold my place in line. Six Flags/Cedar Fair, if you can communicate with my bank account every month, you can communicate major changes to my membership. "Read the fine print" is not customer service.

Every year I go, there are updates and new areas in the haunted house, and returning favorite parts of the house. The haunters inside are always top notch and on point with their scares, and there are no "dead rooms" without ghouls inside them, all are full of them ready to scare you! The house will take around 45 mins-1 hour to get through completely if you're going at an average pace/slow pace, and the most unique room in the haunt in my opinion is "Buried Alive" - I won't spoil it for you if you've never been, but it's an extreme simulation room that makes you lay down and experience being "buried alive" - not recommended if you're claustrophobic - you have the option to bypass this final room at the end of the haunt! If you're a thrill seeker, you will love it. All of the other workers like security, ticket booth cashiers and gift shop employees are all fantastic as well. If you're doing one haunted house during Halloween, this is the one to go to, you won't regret it. PS - if you like their regular season haunted house, try Blackout in November for a pitch black experience of the house in the dark, or Sub-Thermal Nightmare in December for a winter layover of the house.

So, the physicality of enclosures designed to terrify adults is just not something that interests me. However, I couldn't be more enthused about this bit of local flavor: Every October, a family in the sleepy town of Roselle sets up three big tents in their front yard and crafts within them a truly excellent Halloween experience for the community. We'd been noticing the tents for a while, but only started investigating them last year. I figured it was going to be the usual cutesy Halloween stuff, but no. The level of creepiness and goriness was such that I couldn't handle actually entering the tents, so I mostly looked on as my partner Wolf R. had a good time checking everything out. But even he got a little surprise at the end: While looking into the coffin in the last tent, he was spooked by a large vampire swinging down from above, and a second later, he was further startled by a person dressed in all black, including a black face mask, creeping up behind him. I'd have laughed if I wasn't so busy making sure nothing was creeping up behind me. This year I felt a bit more bold and decided to follow a whole group of little kids into the leftmost tent, themed like a haunted carnival with evil clowns. This ain't so bad, I thought, enjoying the creative clowns and even snapping a pic. And then, I don't even understand what it was, but the odd noises and spinning lights they'd set up conspired to get under my skin and I felt like I was going to totally lose it if I didn't retreat *immediately*. My god. The middle tent was the gory cannibalistic one, with zombies and body parts and -- well, I won't spoil it for you. It was so gross that I couldn't actually look at it long enough to take a picture. And this year, the last tent was themed like a haunted hotel with black lights. Nothing jumped out at my partner this time but he still loved it. As it turns out, the haunted house also promotes a good cause: They collect non-perishable food for the Bloomingdale Food Pantry. The family also accepts donations if you'd like to chip in to their haunted house efforts. We continued to get looks by employees while at the farm and decided to leave after we realized they were quietly harassing us, talking amongst themselves and giving us looks. We got to our car and had several other employees point to our car and laugh. After pulling out, the manager started taking pictures of our car and license plate with our children in it. We stopped, jumped out and asked why she was taking pictures. We realized we were being accused of stealing pumpkins! I opened the trunk and yelled this is insane there are no pumpkins in here. To be accused as a family with little kids of stealing pumpkins is ridiculously inappropriate. I asked to speak to the owner, Mrs Kroll, who was VERY unapologetic about any of the situation. We will never back - I can believe this experience was ruined for my children. Stay far away from this place.

From mazes to electronic features, and engaging cast and gore, it was both fun and creepy from beginning to end. I definitely screamed a few times, and after I exited, I watched as other "survivors" came racing out to escape the final element of fear. I've been to several haunted houses, although not for several years, and this one stands out as one of the best I've been to in the area. While this is a park district production, it's definitely not for small children, but great for probably teenagers and up. For the general public, admission is $13, or $20 for a fast pass. I was told it takes about 15 minutes to go through it, though I didn't time our visit to confirm that. By the time we left around 7:30, the line had grown pretty long, and it was only the second day it was open for the season. I'd recommend a visit to Scream Scene to get you in the Halloween spirit!
