This place is disgusting. They don't have sanitizer bags. There's a bug that craw past the floor before it was squish to its death,you can see the dust in every corner. Tina was not this bad. Tina was actually but wtf happen? This place is disastrous since Jenny took over. I stop in real quick before a meeting, couple weeks ago since my reg tech "Thao" at SPDS is out of town, and won't be back in south philly into next week. , ....I'm still growing my bad thin azz eyebrows, my gel polish chipped in 3 Days. What a waste of money. Just don't. I don't like the new establishment. You can smell they just want your money and treat you with: "ok you done, get out." I've been a patron for a couple of years now. I followed Jenny from her previous Salon. I get my pedicure and UV gel refills every 2 weeks, like clock work. (Definitely choose UV gel over acrylic. There's no odor or refill lines). The prices are very fair. My refill is $30, where I use to pay $60-80 at the fancier salons. They don't do the flashy nail art, but for a general refill, this is my spot. I do go to other salons when I'm in the mood for design. Rachel usually does my pedicures. She's very good and listens well. I always ask for extra attention in certain areas, and it's never a problem, never attitude. Overall, I'm happy here. I save a ton of money at Helen's. If something isn't to your liking, THEY WILL FIX IT! Give them a shot. The staff is so friendly and warming. All of the ladies are so sweet. read more

The Worst Nail Experience of My Life! I Could not Wait to go get My nails fixed completely at another location. I Asked for a Full Set. The nail tech and now Owner Amy did not put the tips in the correct place.. stating that the glue would not stick because my skin was too long underneath and my fingers too cold (never heard of such a thing) 4/10 nails broke within a week. I have been going to Helen's for about 6 years. I was in the area and decided to get a pedicure. The woman who did my toes was kind of nasty. She kept slapping my leg instead of using her words to instruct me as to what to do next. She got upset because she made the polish come off twice and blamed it on me. I chose to ignore all of this. When she was done, she walked away. I sat for about 5 minutes and proceeded to ask the other nail tech if I was finished. She looked around and said "yes". I went up front to pay and the woman asked how much was I giving her for a tip off of my card.... Ummm, nothing , I'll do it in cash. She then slammed my debit card on the counter and said sign! After signing, I turned to the other nail tech and asked , "Helen doesn't work on Sundays"? She told me when she works and then the other woman attitude changed. I told them I had been coming there for years and this was the worse service I had ever received and I'd come back only on the days that Helen and Tina is there. read more

I have been going to Helen's for over three years now. She is so nice and fast. I use to go to Tina but she no longer works there. All of Helens services I feel are reasonably priced. I have had expensive pedicures but none of them have nothing on Helen's. I always receive compliments on my hands and feet. Her gel polish never peels and always look fresh. One time I had it on for month and you could only tell because of my nail growth. I am no longer in south philly, so i dont go as often. Do yourself a favor, go to Helen's!!! read more

I found this place on yelp a couple of weeks ago and decided to make a trip to check it out. I had a great experience, it is cheap, and they did a fantastic job. I have had my acrylics on for almost three weeks and am just going to be heading back to get a fill. One thing I noticed was that they got busy fairly quick, so although they don't require appointments, I would suggest getting an appointment. read more

The staff is friendly here and there are only two girls usually working so you need to get in there when they aren't busy, otherwise you will be waiting. The girl that gave me a manicure and pedicure was fast. She did a good job but part of getting a manicure and pedicure is for the relaxing aspect of the experience. She rubbed my feet for one minute each foot. From my experience in other nail salons, that is really fast. The only major complaint I have is that they are not as clean as other salons. I most likely would not go again unless I was in a rush and they had a chair open and ready. read more

I rarely ever get my nails done but when I do I come to Helen's. Helen definitely treats everyone like family; always a warm atmosphere at the shop and many conversations. She never forgets a face- will be 3-4 months in between when I go see her but she always remember the usual mani-pedi I get and remembers what color for my nails as well. Although $30 is kinda hefty for a mani-pedi, it's worth it because she definitely spend time to give you the quality you deserve. Thank you Helen! :) read more
