You pay for your classes online to book your spot. The benefits of having a smaller class is that if you are a beginner or very shy, you get to feel less self conscious plus having more care and attention from the instructor. Another add is the fact that there is curtains on the windows so if you are really shy, people on the outside don't get to see you busting it down The address from this place needs to be updated soon because it is located on 1417 NOSTRAND AVENUE, 1 minute away from the church avenue train stop (2/5). It is only a few stores down from Aunt et uncles and across the street from lips cafe. So you are in the neighborhood of some great places. Overall, such a great add to the community

I love the tower class the best. With all of the different exercises incorporating the springs and pulleys, it goes quickly and it seems like every muscle gets a work out . Jen is very accommodating and knowledgeable to help if you have an injury. She showed me extra stretches to do when I had sciatica. I'll admit, I was pessimistic because I''m a judgey witch who doubts gyms that aren't in Manhattan. It was a mat style class, so no barre, but the darker room and lighter impact was much needed. Elliott was supportive & gave great corrections. And Olivia at the front desk was very welcoming, something not all Brooklyn gyms get right. It was up to par with the physique 57 classes I've taken in NYC and I hope to add at least Sundays to my routine. The facilities are also very clean. I'd like to try more classes here but it's a bit of a trek from my house. If you're thinking of trying them out, I bought a "buy one get one free" special on their website that I think is a great value for a newcomer, or old client of physique 57.

It would be remarkable enough to have a studio whose facilities feel like a daily spa retreat. Or to have a studio where you are welcomed by the warmest teachers, or where the students you sweat with will become some of your favorite people. But at The Furnace, all of this is true all at once. It is also the only studio I've ever been to (and I've been to many studios the world over) where the clientele actually reflects the racial diversity of the studio's zip code. Thank you Alex and Jascha for creating something singular and beautiful. I'm a member for life.

I found Rosie on yelp and was excited to see she was only 15 minutes away from me. I have been seeing her since July and wonder sometimes what I have done without her. Not only is she a attentive, knowledgeable, and supportive teacher but is also a wonderful person. I now consider her a friend/big sister and someone I can bounce any idea off of. She pushes me when I need to be pushed (physically), offers ideas for practice outside of the studio (physically and spiritually), and has made me a yoga-convert (I used to HATE it, but one session with her and I am now obsessed)! If you are debating whether to schedule a session with her or not I am here to tell you to stop debating and do it! You will not regret it and it may be as life changing for you as it was for me! P.S. If you're a dog person I highly recommend asking her to bring her dog Kaz down to join you during your session (I always do). If you're not, no worries! Kaz will stay upstairs waiting for my return ;)

I envisioned myself having to put energy in...maybe have to hold a plank for awhile. I was delightfully amazed!!! I was passively stretched and my tight muscles slowly worked on. Took the TRX & Stretch class…read more It was a small class of 6 people. We were split up into 2 groups. Half used the TRX Machine, half did bodyweight exercises, constantly switching throughout the class. The instructor was friendly as soon as I walked in, but the class was a little confusing. Because we kept switching groups, it was hard to remember what the bodyweight group exercise was when we were previously just the TRX group, so there were times when we would just look at each other in confusion, not completely sure if we were doing the exercise correctly. It was a small class though, so we did get corrected occasionally on our form. This past month, I've been taking a few fitness classes in different studios and this was one of the most rigorous. The exercises using the TRX were harder to do than the bodyweight or floor exercises we did. The studio is quite average in size. There's 4 TRX machines and 4 punching bags. There's a long mirror on the wall for you to check out your form while you're doing the class. There's also a shower area and a bathroom, but they're separated through rooms. I didn't see any lockers in the studio. We just put our coats to the side where the rest of the other equipment were. I would really rate this studio a 3.5 but given the friendliness of the instructor and how sore I felt afterwards, I just rounded up.

They also offer personal training which my friend takes and loves. The barre class was my favorite - highly recommend checking them out!
