We love "Heinen's Grocery Store". They are right near our house so it couldn't be easier to get what we need when we need it. The folks that work there are neighborhood people. Kind, professional and helpful. The quality of the food, in every form, is always excellent. The store is always neat, clean and well organized. They always have plenty of everything. I remember even during the "COVID" years we always found what we needed. And when you're all done shopping and ready to go there are always plenty of cashiers to help get you on your way. OMG, I love this grocery store! We had Palisades Market near our house, which was like this. Beautiful fresh produce and local dairy products featured. The ice-cream section is HUGE!!!! There's an array of gourmet meats, and bakery items, as well as more affordable faire. You can call ahead and order cuts of meat in advance, for uncommon cuts, that are hard to find elsewhere. This Heinen's Grocery Store, is my favorite. Some of the others are less accommodating. read more

I have been a Heinen's shopper for over 50 years. The reason my family shopped there over the years was the quality of the products sold and the excellent service that was a mainstay of the establishments. We've had poor customer service the past few times we went shopping there. First experience was at the store pickup drive thru. The young lady who was putting the groceries in our car threw them in the trunk spilling the food all over the trunk. The second experience was in the check out line. The young lady assisting with packing our bags was placing soap in with the food. She rolled her eyes at us when we made light of the misplacement. I have to believe, even at her age, she knew not to put food and soap together. Some level of training must go with the job. This is not the Heinen's I grew up with. read more

The store is terrific -----but beware of using INSTACART, do a curb pick up, if you must. They misdeliver, send wrong messages, complicate your life where you spend a whole morning on the inernet --- and still solve nothing. Heinens washes their hands of the whole system ---INSTACART picks up (or doesn't) reads your directions ( or not) --- you get the idea. read more

A grocery store that looks like it has local beers on tap (either that, or it was an eye-catching decoration) has my vote. Who cares about anything else? Well, I supposed that's not really fair because the rest of the store is nearly as impressive as the wine and beer section. While one person in our group spent time checking out the wines, I and another wandered the aisles. Heinen's is a typical grocery store, but for a relatively small store, does a good job with the deli and produce sections. I was particularly impressed with how clean this place is kept. It was almost as though there's a dedicated person for each aisle whose sole job is putting things back in perfect order. When I made my way back to the beer and wine section, still intrigued by possibility of beer on tap, I noticed the beer section could be more accurately categorized as a store of local or small microbreweries. There was one small area/cooler with the national brands. All the other shelves and the larger coolers carried local brands from the area and from other states or countries. I was in this Heinen's some time back. I'd stopped in on a Friday night to pick up some Corned beef, and Beef Stick/Smokies out of meat counter. I smelled the beef sticks when I got home and thought they may have been a little bad. I figured it must be my over sensitive nose..Heinen's wouldn't have bad smokies. So I had a few and a corned beef sandwich. That was supper. About 2.5 hours later the cramps and stomach ache told me I'd eaten something bad. I knew it had to be the beef sticks. So Saturday I had to stay home as I couldn't leave the house due to the cramps and the other symptoms. Sunday I took the remainder of the smokies back to the store asking that I only be refunded for the bad beef sticks I'd purchased. Well.. the told me I had to fill out some sort of incident report for their insurance as this would need to be investigated. They call the manager.. and I easily waited 5-10 minutes before anyone showed up and when she did she kept dealing with other personnel while I stood there waiting. Her name was Angel. Angel did not have a good attitude. I told her I wasn't worried about anything but getting a refund for the smokies and that I had food poisoning from same. Apparently Angel moonlights as an assistant manager there at the store because she must work for the Cleveland Clinic as her real job. She explained to me that I couldn't have food poisoning as it takes 24 hours for food poisoning to occur. I knew right then and there she was not the person I wanted to talk to. She was rude and treated me as if I were fraudulently trying to get something for nothing. I explained to her again, after I explained to her how food poisoning actually works, which she in turn wanted to argue about. All she had to do was google it, but why do that when you can insult and berate a customer. The had me contact their insurance which said they need to investigate if they can do anything for me. Understand this entire time..I kept saying.. give me back the money I spent on the smokies and we're even. I got food poisoning because I trusted their deli dept. That's my fault. What really stuck out was the way the assistant manager (Angel) went from passive indifference to hostile and accusatory. I did end up talking to the store manager by phone and explained to her what had happened. She apologized and said she would counsel her assistant manager. I don't know what was worse, her condescension or her hostile nature as if I were trying to steal from her or the store. How she ever got in a position of management astounds me. She has poor people skills to say the least. All this, just to get a refund on bad smokies after they made me ill. I told my coworker about this. He lives in Chardon and his response. "That's the low class Heinen's you need to come out to Chardon. That's the good one." I've not been back since and it's been some months. I am just now getting to writing this as I thought if I should post this or not. I finally decided I should. Caveat Emptor friends. read more

This is based on years of shopping at the Willoughby location on Rte. 84. Sad to say the things that attracted our family to shop at Heinen's are quickly fading away. As a family we've been Heinen's customers since the early sixties, starting at Shaker Square and then the Taylor road site in the Heights. The service has degraded, due to a lack of training and an ambivalence about customer service. Packers chuck food in with soap without a thought. It's clear their not given even the bare minimum of training before hitting the floor. They seem to have lost some of their long term, employees and have tried to fill the open positions with untrained, young employees. I'm guessing that they're no longer unionized. Their lack of a financial investment in employees has left them with, bottom of the barrel, employees. Most of the staff seem grossly uninterested in their jobs. We used to live across from this particular Heinen's for two years. It was nice to just cross the road and walk back with a few bags, not a carload. To this day it is the only Heinen's i've really ever frequented. I'm contemplating trying out the Rocky River one out of pure nostalgia, but i heard from multiple sources that everyone who shops there is a snooty asshole. Anyhow, this store was awesome. Very inviting and almost European, unlike the harsh lighting and decor of Narc's. The beer selection was top notch(gee, first thing i mentioned was the beer. i need AA). The meat department, when i used to eat land dwelling meat, was immaculate. Bakery was aromatic and the cheese/deli areas offered many premium choices. Produce was very fresh. Staff were clean cut and friendly. Now at the time, i didn't realize it was expensive, because we shopped nowhere else to compare, had a roommate who paid for food but never ate any, and we all had better jobs. Now looking back, i probably wasted a lot of money just for convenience. Which is what i do at Giant Egret these days. I guess i could add the River branch into the rotation of Nature's Bin, Trader Joe's and Target and not feel the pinch too much. No matter what, i am not shopping at Narc's. read more

Heinen's is where I really like to buy all of our fresher products. Their milk and cheese is great, I can not express how much cheese my house goes through. I get my eggs here, butter sometimes, like when I need good butter for baking and such. I know it's pricier, but the quality is good on their brands. Tilamook is a favorite cheese but I can't find it out here, so their cheddar has been a good substitute. I like their produce as well, though there are many places to get good produce in NE Ohio. The people are incredibly friendly and the store is very clean! My only complaint is 7pm is WAAAAAY too early to close. Way too early. Even in the winter season. read more

I love this place. Heinen's is the only grocery store i will go to and this particular location is one of the best. I love it! First, to anyone who says that their prices are high or that places like say, Giant Eagle are cheaper you are wrong. They are actually more affordable than other places and I know this because I have compared prices. Even if it were to be more expensive that's because of the quality of their food, the cleanliness of their stores, and the outstanding customer service. Second, their customer service if so great. My personal favorite cashier is Mary. This is because she is so efficient, friendly, and sweet. She really tries to connect to every costomer that comes through her line. Third, they have a great selection of food. They have a really cool wellness section and they have a prepared food section that is so amazing. The produce selection offers a lot of organic and local produce. I really like how they feature different farms where the produce come from. All the store staff are very friendly and helpful. This is a great, upscale supermarket. The employees here are extremely friendly, and go above and beyond to address any concerns/questions customers may have.They have a nice selection of local and organic foods, sauces and produce. Additionally, they sell a nice selection of store brand items, and prepared/ heat-and-eat items. I love their Wild Caught Seafood selection, even though several items may be a bit pricey. Furthermore, the Bakery here, is one of the best in the city of Cleveland. Many of their cakes and pies are ordered from a family owned Bakery in Amherst, Ohio. The German Chocolate Cakes, Lemon Pies, and Strawberry Pies are my favorites! After you are done shopping, store employees will put your groceries in your car for you (when you drive up to the special loading area), because the shopping carts cant leave the premises. And there is a "No Tipping" sign posted at the loading area. The only suggestions I have are: (1) the store needs to offer a better variety of yogurt brands, (2) offer a larger variety of deli items, and (3) offer more benefits for its Rewards Cardholders. read more

Prices are easily 30 to 40% higher than competing stores , and almost double that of the local Fresh Markets . Heinen's quality with their produce is far superior than other big-box grocers in the area. This review is only addressing one key problem: HOME DELIVERY. Although their website leads you to believe that items to be home delivered are shopped and then immediately delivered to you, that is absolutely not the case. Heinen's uses Insta Cart for home deliveries. ONE person shops, then STORES your food in the back of the store and then ANOTHER person delivers your food. What's wrong with this? (1) The food is not properly stored according to hot food, cold food, frozen food, and dry goods. (2) PLUS Heinen's has agreed with Insta Cart that as much as FIVE HOURS can separate shopping and the START of the delivery process. FIVE HOURS! Do you want your food sitting around for five hours? Plus it's not unusual for food to sit much longer than that. One delivery was actually kept overnight and passed off as being shopped the same day! (3) And the delivery person has several orders all packed together in his car. So your food is kept without proper temperature control for MORE TIME in a HOT CAR while other deliveries are made. (4) There is NO Heinen's oversight over the process! Insta Cart does what it wants and Heinen's frankly turns a blind eye. Sad that a store with an otherwise stellar, hometown reputation allows this to happen. Don't be fooled by Heinen's claims that this food handling is anywhere near safe. It's not. And Heinen's simply does not care. Sad. read more

This is the worse Heinen's I have experienced. It is smaller than it's counterpart in Wilson Mills or on Chagrin Blvd. The beer and wine section, deli section and grocery selection suffer from the lack of size of the store. As a shopping experience I feel crowded as I move through this store.This store chronically suffers from lack of stock, I remember asking a stocker when they were out of Two Brothers Seasoning when they expect it back in stock. He told me it was back ordered for 6 months. This is a Heinen's product and it is incredible that it was back ordered at all. It is interesting to me that Heinen's allows a store that so contradicts it's marketing message in so many ways to continue to operate and drag down the Heinen's brand. read more

there are so many reasons this store is a great place to shop...number one would be the staff...by far the most friendly and helpful...the prepared food section always has a fantastic choice of items....the meat section has the most amazing selection of prepared items that I've ever seen...cost wise compared to places like giant eagle...I don't see the difference...another reason I like shopping there the store is not a gigantic warehouse..like giant eagle..it's small and compact...easy to navigate..and always super clean. read more
