The wine was delicious. We enjoyed sitting in the sun in the outdoor wine area. Enjoyed hearing the family's story of how the winery survived prohibition. Didn't go to the caves but will next time!

This place had such great wine! Two of the workers were very quick to help us and give recommendations, but one of them seemed to want nothing to do with us as far as customer service goes. All of the wine was great though, we tried 3 of the sweet wines, two of the dry, and one of the medium. The sweet wines were the best in my opinion! The place itself was gorgeous, especially the garden!

Super cool experience especially for the price. Went to Put In Bay for the first time over this past week and was not disappointed. This crystal cave is a must see and is breathtaking in person. The tour guide was super fun and was very knowledgeable about the history of the cave. If you're in the area I recommend checking it out - you might even get "cave kiss"! Also the winery is very neat and you get a grape juice or wine sample included in the crystal cave tour price.

We loved the longevity and history of this family-owned winery. The Crystal Cave is cute, but it's really small. Don't expect a grand tour - but worth checking out. The wine is sweet. The grounds could use some updating, but the people were nice.

I have to admit I was disappointed in this winery. The facilities are dated and the decor was not very modern. It doesn't have a typical winery feel. Things were some simple and primitive that we didn't stay long to enjoy the wine. Apparently the state of Ohio says that Heineman needs to charge $3.50 for a sample. Unfortunately you don't know which wine to pick since you have no idea how the wine tastes. Therefore you just guess and hope the wine is digestible. On this occasion we picked the Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc to try. I have to admit that these wines were not very tasty or appealing to my palette. The wines tasted very plain and a "waxy" after taste.

The customer service was great! And I bought a Put-in-bay winery shirt for only $5! Love this! The ambiance was nice, and I felt welcomed there overall.

Wonderful experience at the winery and caves. The price per person was $12, which included a cave tour, a wine tour, and a glass of wine or grape juice. The staff was friendly and courteous.

For $11 this is quite a stop! The crystal cave tour is interesting & really informative. It is definitely something we had not experienced before. The winery tour was more thorough than expected ... it's a working winery so we say the process in action - very cool! All grapes come from within 10 miles of Lake Erie! It was very enjoyable and frankly a great deal for the experience.

Cheese plate

Went on a tour of the Cave and the Winery. The cheese plate was good and all of the employees were Great! If you are going to buy some crystals or fossils, the prices are much here and a better selection than the shop across the street. Jacob did an Awesome job of packaging our purchases for the ride home!

Christmas Market If…read moreyou are looking for a unique Christmas experience for adults this is the place to come. We took a girls trip (many of us driving for over an hour) to meet up. The outside area has about 20 greenhouse style buildings set up that sell a variety of items from clothing to homemade pottery. The buildings are each heated and they have several fire pit areas along the paths to stay warm. If you want to eat inside you will need to make reservations in advance. Outside the offer stands with soup, sandwiches and wine. Fun experience and pictures look magical!

But... last night we decided to have dinner after spending time at the Holiday Market and the dining experience was a huge disappointment. We waited over 10 minutes for a server to greet us and get our drink orders. 40 minutes after ordering, our server stopped by to tell us that our apps would be coming soon. The Walleye bites were good but not seasoned and the entrees were disappointing. I had a harvest salad which would have been lovely but the "dressing" tasted like it was made from extremely strong puréed onion and nothing else. At the end of the meal, we waited another 20 minutes for the check and after almost two hours, we paid $100 for poor service, a bowl of fried fish pieces, a cheeseburger, a bowl of mediocre bisque and a salad that was just awful. Not the experience that we hoped for! We will be back for the Christmas Market next year but I think we'll opt for another dinner option next time. I would rate the wine bar and Christmas Market 5 stars! Unfortunately, the dining experience was dismal and left us with a bad (and very oniony) taste in our mouths!

The owner educated our group of 50 on unique wines of the area. The talk was SO fascinating! I can't express how wonderful this book winery is!!! The rich history of the area, building and grapes! What sets this winery apart is its location--it's one of the few places in the area where you can sip wine while enjoying close proximity to the water. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the outdoor seating offered beautiful views that made our tasting even more enjoyable. Whether you're a casual wine drinker or a seasoned connoisseur, the setting alone is worth the visit. We had the opportunity to sample a wide variety of wines during our visit, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The tasting was well-organized, and the staff were both knowledgeable and friendly, making great recommendations based on our preferences. We were particularly impressed with the Pinot Grigio, which had a crisp, refreshing taste perfect for a warm afternoon by the water. However, it was the Cabernet that truly stood out for us. It had a rich, full-bodied flavor with just the right amount of complexity--a balance of boldness and smoothness that left us both savoring each sip. The Cabernet was so exceptional that we knew we couldn't leave without bringing some home. We ended up purchasing two bottles, and I have no doubt that we'll be reminiscing about our time at the winery as we enjoy them in the future. It's not often you come across a red that makes such a lasting impression, but this one definitely did. If you're in the Port Clinton area, I highly recommend visiting this winery. It offers more than just great wines--it provides an experience. Between the friendly staff, the well-curated wine selection, and the beautiful location near the water, it's a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some truly memorable wines. We'll definitely be returning!

The vibe was a bit different than what I was expecting as we were expecting a traditional vineyard but that was not really the case. It was more casual then expected. The place is fairly big and the night we went they had live music in the entrance area. They had a patio but limited seating and most of it was covered and half uncovered. The service was very slow. We ordered wine flights as well as bruschetta and bread/oil. It took a very long time to come out and had to go find our waiter to ask about the wait as we were a large party. The waiter was super apologetic and kind and gave complimentary chips and a cake slice which was nice. The limoncello cake slice tasted a bit artificial but I appreciated the waiter giving it to us, but would not order it again off the menu. The wine was delicious so I would say to go for the wine if you go for anything. The food was simple and basic but nothing to complain about as we just got bread/oil as well as bruschetta. It feels simple and a bit thrown together however, the pizzas that were coming out did look very good so I would try to opt for one of those. The shareables were a decent size for the price and I can appreciate them not charging a super high amount for shareables as some wineries do. Overall, Firelands Winery was a good experience and I would come back for the wine and maybe some live music if I am in the area.

I did ask the person if they serve food. She told us yes, when we are ready we need to order "at the bar." Keep in mind, there was a family of four and us. Actually the food was quite tasty. My husband had the burger and I had the pesto chicken sandwich. Both came with chips. If you are ordering wine, you get nice glasses. Pop or water come in plastic cups. And it is canned pop. The seating is rather uncomfortable. Backless Stools at large round tables (think large cable holders).

Wine - best local wine in the region. Keep in mind the wines are mostly on the dry side. Jamie also hand selects imports from around the world. They also sell beer and other drinks. The bruschetta was a great mix of texture and flair. Sweet tomatoes, perfectly grilled baguette, salty olives, and savory blue cheese. Amazing. The salmon was very good. It had brussel sprouts cooked in an Apple compote. Very nice contrast of sweet and savory. Fish was perfectly cooked. Only negative was the potatoes were slightly over cooked. Pro Tip - ask for Julie. The best server.
