Great atmosphere and scenic location, but that's about all I can say positive. Very limited wine selection, I like reds, they offered 2. One sweet, which I don't care for sweet wines, the second, which I chose was lacking flavor. No body to the wine. Very disappointing. My wife tried 2 whites, she didn't care for either. They did not have a chardonnay or anything close. The traditional cheese tray was obviously pre- cubed cheeses, some plain soda crackers and a half a peach. I asked about getting a half order or the "gourmet " cheese tray but the server said they don't offer it because everything is pre-proportioned, which leads me to believe it's from Costco or the like. All in all pretty disappointing. Ww love stopping at wineries but unless friends want to go, ill avoid this one. We have frequented the orchard store for decades but even that has gotten so expensive we have cut back. read more

What a great find! Was out traveling the backroads of Erie County and stumbled across this most excellent winery. But to define it simply as such would be an injustice to what they do. With a vineyard, fruit tree orchard, full kitchen, gift shop and the most excellent donut truck, this place rocks! The main attraction is a beautifully decorated chalet. Did a flight of every wine they had. Ended up loving three of them, including the Chardonnay, Bourbon Barrel Aged Apple wine, and the Pinnacle Rrd. Got a bottle of Chardonnay for the table and took the other two home. Service was crazy good. Brooke was attentive, quick, and had the nicest smile you've ever seen. She should be on the silver screen! Super friendly, the manager, I think her name was Emily, sat down at our table and exquisitely described each wine while we sampled the precious nectars. The owner also stopped by and explained how he's the third generation of Scottish immigrants growing up on the land we sit on, where his great great grandfather planted the pear trees still producing fruit today. Seeing that this was Mother's Day, they went over the top with a free bouquet of flowers for the moms in our family. Tried the donuts and thought I was going to heaven. Our third stop of the day brought us to another elegant winery that we thoroughly enjoyed. I couldn't decide which sign outside I liked more--they were both charming. The tasting options allowed you to either choose a flight or pay $1.50 per tasting, and we opted for the latter. While their selection of dry reds was limited, the Adonia Berry caught my attention. A medium dry wine, it tasted like biting into a peanut butter and jelly sandwich--absolutely delicious. We couldn't resist walking away with two bottles of the Retriever Red Apple Blend. With our daughter @morganmmiller being a golden retriever lover, we knew she'd appreciate the bottle just as much as we did. Overall, it was a wonderful experience at this winery. Summer time wine stop with great views at the Quarry Hill vineyard. We decided to do a few tastings which were $1 other than the ice wines and the Bourbon barrel wine which were a little more. Glasses of wine are not badly priced or poured which was nice to have when sitting and relaxing outside. The day was beautiful and relaxing. There is a choice of inside and outside seating. The server was very nice where you order and pay up at the bar but they are willing to help you make choices with the wine available. There is a patio and events posted for the month. read more

My wife and I wanted to go to Cory Hill to hang out and enjoy a beautiful spring afternoon. My wife called ahead to speak to someone to find out if they were busy or if there was a wait. She spoke to someone named Rose who is very short with her on the phone. Rose seemed annoyed and my wife explained she was wondering how busy they were. So what do you want to know? Rose asked, and not in a kind way. My wife explained that we were ready to walk out the door to visit but that we were wondering if there would be a wait at that time. Rose's response was, "Well, we have people here." Not. Helpful. At. All. I sent an email to Corie Hills general Gmail account listed on their website to let management know about the problem. I got exactly a two sentence response. "Sorry for your disappointment. It's difficult finding good employees." There you have it. Too busy to really care. We've been to this winery several times in the past and we've never had real problems here. But there are so many other wineries in the area that we likely won't return the Quarry Hill. read more

We had initially gone to Quarry Hills Orchard for apple picking and were surprised to find a winery just off the side of the road. Such a pleasant surprise! The weather was beautiful, a classic sunny day with a fall crisp chill in the air. There is indoor seating and outdoor seating with some tables on an elevated deck and larger picnic tables right outside the Orchard. We decided to grab a table on the corner of the deck, overlooking the lake and the Orchard, which was a beautiful view. The three of us split a bottle of wine, very reasonably priced, of sweet apple. For my taste, it was bordering on the edge of too sweet, but they have a variety of other wines to choose from. They also have some food options as well. We had the Brie and bread appetizer, which comes with a side of local fruit as well. The appetizer was delicious. The cheese and bread were warm and the wheel of Brie was coated in a slight drizzle of honey. The sweet and savory mix paired well with the sweet wine. It was such a lovely spot to come and catch up with friends! read more

If you find yourself in this area as we did to visit Quarry Hill Orchards, definitely drive up the road and visit this winery. I don't believe it's owned by the family that owns the winery (they just share a similar location based name). This quiet, unsuspecting winery is located on what appears to be some serious acreage. There's not much around it in the area besides the Orchards, so plan accordingly. The minute you arrive you'll be greeted with beautiful landscaping on the well-manicured grounds. There's multiple seating areas: outdoor lower level, outdoor upper level and inside upper level. There may be a private lower level but I'm not sure. The indoor seating has two areas. One is smaller and has a rustic vibe while the main seating area has sprawling windows, a large fireplace and high ceilings. We ordered a glass of Riesling and a glass of their special Strawberry Rhubarb fruit wine. The Strawberry Rhubarb is not typically something I'd order, but the helpful employee Ben really sold me on it! It was so fragrant and delicious. They also have a small menu including paninis, a cheese board and a few appetizers. We ordered the baked Brie with peaches. The peaches were right from the nearby Orchards and I swear they are the best I've ever had. Give this beautiful winery a chance and you'll be pleasantly surprised! read more

We are fairly new to the area and visited the winery several times last year. The setting is very nice and the building is pretty. There is a variety of wines from which to choose. Each sample is $1, or you can buy it by the glass or bottle. Bottles are cheaper if you get them to go. They have a small menu which is perfect. We have had the paninis several times and enjoyed them. We prefer to sit outside as the gnats in the building are plentiful and swim in your wine glass. My only downside on these trips were the staff. Nobody is friendly and I feel like they don't want me there. Update on June 3. The website says Minor Adjustments is playing so we planned a date night. We bought a bottle of wine, a cheese plate, and a panini to split which was $50. We asked if the music would be outside or inside and were happy when we were told it was outside. We enjoyed our food and wine and noticed that a different band was setting up. We questioned the band and they said Minor Adjustments was performing elsewhere tonight. We were super annoyed as that's why we came here. So we dropped $50 and all the staff had to say was that we would like the music. They stated the website was changed as they had a printout. I came home and checked it and it says Minor Adjustments on June 3. We used to own a business. Number one rule is to make your customer happy. They did nothing to make up for their error. Not even a sorry. One last thing. If you sit outside, bring along a wet rag to clean off your table and chairs. There is bird poop everywhere and they just sit your food and drinks on the tables. Update on July 30, 2018 - I still want to like this winery, but think I have to give up. It seems like the new thing is for big groups to come, and all they want to do is talk loudly. Music is playing and everyone ignores it and just shouts over one another. It's turning out to not be a fun place to spend an evening. So bummed! read more

What a beautiful winery with a nice variety of wines. The property is gorgeous and the tasting room offers nice views of the property. The winery is very well done. When we walked in there was a large chalkboard that outlined the wines available for tasting. There were at least a dozen options ranging from standard wines to fruit wines to ice wine. The board also outlined where wines fell as far as sweetness to help with choosing wines to taste. The blueberry and strawberry rhubarb wines we're less sweet than other fruit wines I've had, but were pretty good. My parents had standard red and white and enjoyed them. My final taste was the ice wine and that was my favorite because it was the sweetest. I love that the winery offers food. Most wineries I've been to don't offer food so this was a nice surprise. The menu isn't extensive, but has a few nice options that are well done. We enjoyed having a light lunch while tasting the wines and enjoying the view. We visited in December so the winery wasn't even at its full potential. I'd imagine this would be a fun place on a summer night to enjoy some wine. read more

Our third and final winery of the day was Quarry Hill Winery. As others have noted, the winery is located in an absolutely beautiful setting, perched at the top of a hill overlooking acres of picturesque grapevines. The building itself was exquisitely landscaped with well-tended ornamentals and gorgeous natural stone walkways, as well as a fantastic wrap-around porch. The inside of the winery looked just as dynamite as the outside, with expansive hardwood floors and two stories of windows filling the large tasting room with light. If our first impression upon entering Quarry Hill Winery was "wow!" based on the fantastic setting and décor, our second impression was "this place is cold" based on the meat-locker like temperature, as well as the extremely reserved nature of the staff. My best friend and I ambled up to the exquisite bar, where the lone employee looked up from her journal and gave us an expressionless hello. When we inquired about tastings, she matter-of-factly informed us of the offerings at Quarry Hill, but otherwise she was all business, with zero chit-chat or idle conversation. We opted to sample several wines each, and although the wine hostess coolly told us about each varietal, she maintained her frosty reserve and refused to be drawn into conversation. We might have ordered some snacks to go with our wines, but were scared off by both sticker shock at the posted prices, as well as fear of irking the already icy staff. While my best friend and I both liked several of the wines, we were so put off by the cold disposition of the hostess that neither of us opted to buy any bottles of vino. Overall, I loved the setting and really liked most of the wines, however those great features could not make up for the frosty staff or high prices. As such, I rate Quarry Hill Winery as being Good and would return. read more

First let me say my discovery and subsequent visit to Quarry Hill Winery was all over a small taste of one magical wine. The "Buckeye" Red. I am not a huge wine drinker and when I do drink wine I prefer white wine, but the compliments this wine was receiving at a Christmas party I attended pushed me to accept a glass, and I was hooked. I decided it would be smart to take a photo of the label. Good thing as my recollection of the exact name has escaped me. I called 4 local wine stores and Not one had any familiarity of the wine or where to purchase it. So I tracked down the winery. Berlin Heights wasn't a place I was familiar with but I did a google search and learned it was less than 45 minutes away from me. About 15 minutes west of Vermillion. The winery is adorable. They have a modest sized indoor seating area and have a small menu including cheese trays, sandwiches and more. Tastings are $1/glass, although our fee was waived as we purchased 6 bottles. We started with the Niagra, always a favorite of mine at other Ohio wineries this one was fine but still paled in comparison to the Buckeye Red which we sampled next. We finished our tasting with a Riesling which our server shared was one of her favorites, but for my son and it was an easy decision. We purchased 6 bottles of Buckeye Red.. Although we didn't eat any food we would like to do so on the next visit. The choices we're all light no heavy dinner selections here. We also noticed an adorable outdoor picnic seating area. Can't wait to come back in warmer weather to enjoy that. Worth the drive to support a local Ohio winery. read more

I loved this Winery! I, being a person who doesn't drink a lot of wine, quite enjoyed being here. I visited the Quarry Hill Winery with my boyfriend's family and it was a wonderful visit. I tasted a Strawberry Rhubarb wine and it was very delicious. What I really enjoyed about this Winery, other than the amazing beautiful views and landscaping, was that they offered unique wine flavors. I had never seen such a wide variety of options! I also ordered the Ciabatta and Oil appetizer and it was pretty tasty. The staff here is so friendly and very helpful. The only downside is that they don't accept credit card tips, only cash tips, just a side note for you. They had an acoustic performance there tonight and I absolutely loved that. We had such a wonderful time here and I would love to come back at any time, and I will be sure to purchase a "Quarry Hill Winery" baseball hat next time! read more

Beautiful winery on a hill. A great location for a wedding, bridal shower, class reunion, anything shmancy. I loved the Cabernet and a few of the red blends. The reason this winery didn't get 5 stars was there was a bit of coolness by the bartenders. I'm a wine aficionado with a great palate and appreciation, but I felt a bit snubbed. Weird! I happen to be a BIG fan of wine but hadn't tried any local wineries until recently. Last week I checked out Quarry Hill and found it to be entirely delightful. Let's get one thing straight off the start: we are not wine country. If you're expecting the glitz and glam of Napa Valley, you're about 3,000 miles off course and (no judgement) probably a little silly. I prefer red wines but you are just are not going to find a fantastic red made in the Midwest. That doesn't mean, however, that Ohio doesn't produce some very enjoyable wines, especially sweet wines. Okay, now that we're on the same page, let's discuss Quarry Hill. The tasting room is situated on top of a (you guessed it) hill with lots of windows and a lovely deck showcasing beautiful views of the surrounding orchards. The staff is small but friendly. They have a number of wines and I tasted about 6 of them; I found the Riesling and ice wine were particularly enjoyable. If you've ever had Midwest wines, you know that often the finish is a little musty but their Riesling was not that way at all; it's great. They also offer cheese plates and other small dishes to snack on. Tastings were about 50 cents each and bottles ran between $12-20 dollars. If you're looking for something local to do with a few friends, I highly suggest paying this place a visit. There are a few other nearby wineries like Paper Moon so you could even make an afternoon of wine tasting. If you have a large group, I recommend you call ahead. They also have a produce stand at the bottom of the hill which is fun to check out. read more

Amazing views, nice deck, beautiful building but just OK wines. The lady behind the counter knew nothing about the wines and couldn't tell me what grapes were in the Pinnacle Red, oh well. Employees should at least have a tasting sheet of notes. Food is expensive. She wouldn't let us open a tab for the tasting and I wasn't going to run my credit card for $2.12 every time. Really? So one tasting and we left. Lots of gnats so beware, get a napkin to cover your glass. read more

Awesome out-of-the-way winery! Great ambiance, super clean and comfortable. They have great outdoor and indoor seating. Their Lobster Bisque is amazing! They offer a large variety of wines, but my favorite is their very popular Buckeye Red. It's a great tasting dark red wine with a superb flavor. I love coming here for an afternoon snack and drink. Came here on Saturday afternoon and Sunday, as well. The seasonal wines are cherry and apple, so I came back on Sunday to buy a bottle. Apple and cherry wines are medium flavored, semi-sweet and every bit of delicious. The snack/appetizer menu is more expensive than most, but when you have a glass of wine, you need the cheese plate! I also love the hummus plate, as well as the rosemary olive oil dip with French bread. If you're buying a bottle to go, get the Buckeye Red! $11 to go for a bottle, and $14 for the bottle if you are staying to drink it (weird, I know). The scenery is lovely, and they just added a patio. Apple trees adorn the sides of the entrance, while their magnificent grapes line the front of the winery. The winery itself is made of lovely dark wood and stone. Service isn't the greatest; there are never more than 3 women working the bar/kitchen. Fireplace and lots of tables on the inside. Two restrooms, and a bigger, empty room towards the back that can be reserved for parties, as well as bottles of all of their wine. In the wintertime, they usually have a peach wine - buy a bottle and sit by the fireplace (inside of course). read more

Came here on a whim and knew nothing about this winery. It's in a beautiful building but most definitely needs more lights outside especially in these dark fall nights. We went to the bar area and tried a few sample of wine. The samples are quite pricey at $1 each. I ended up ordering the Riesling while my boyfriend got the Pinot Noir. They had live entertainment while we were there and were told that they always have entertainment on the weekends. My only complaint would be that we had tons of fruit flies flying around us the entire time we were there. read more

What a great time with friends and family for a going away party. The sweet red is delicious and the cheese tray portion was very big! You do have to walk up to the wine bar to order, which isn't a big deal. We tried the apple apple wine, and the strawberry rhubarb also. Both were good, but the buckeye red stole my heart! Love the atmosphere. It is a beautiful winery. I dont typically enjoy wine but we were on a girls weekend and the rest of my troup does, so we stopped (not our first time, by the way). Sommelier did not seem impressed that i did not like wine and was a bit snobby about it or maybe that was just her personality. I ordered a mule instead. It did not come in the proper copper mug and was just okay. That being said, it IS a winery so I understand a Moscow Mule not being her forte. Everyone else loves their Quarry Hill wine, so I gave 4 stars based on their experience. :-) read more
