I went to attend visitation last night for a dear friend. With the bad storms last night I understand the power going out, but I was appalled at the lack of attention to my friend's widow and friends and family that had braved the storms to pay their respects. I only saw one employee who, as we groped our way thru the darkness, said " all of our power's out". We found our way down a dark hallway using our phone light. We were shocked when the deceased's wife offered to let us view his body. There was an elderly lady ( a relative I think) sitting on a stool holding a small flashlight shining on the deceased's face. Every room and hallway was pitch dark. The widow was getting overheated from the warming humid air. I thought -- my God why wouldn't the ownership have reacted quickly with candles or battery powered lanterns? Bring in a few fans? Why not have more staff in to aid family in getting around the dark building? Or signs put up on the entrances for arriving guests? But no -- you left the mourners to fend for themselves!
