Great place to take your pets, if you actually love yours, like I do. They may not be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

Animals R Special Veterinary Hospital - New patient exam. On ground due to dog with anxiety.

    Animals R Special Veterinary Hospital

Two months ago we purchased a show puppy. Even tho we had dogs in another practice , we wanted…read moremore for her. So we heavily researched every nearby vet for this new puppy. We decided upon Animals R Special. Why? Let me tell you: We found this practice to be exactly what that particular puppy needed. Full service, exceptionally trained vets, who are also empathetic vets, exceptional support staff, and also a practice that is willing to titer vs push vaccines/unneeded procedures. We bring in Wanda. She was treated so well and the communication between vet and client so nice; when I got home I told my husband, "we are switching all of them to this practice" they are extraordinary. And that is exactly what I did today. Today we brought in our 12.5 yr old dog Mo. they knew he had anxiety so they prepped in advance for him. The entire exam was on the floor, with lots of love, cuddles, good boys, and peanut butter treats. He was like a completely different dog. Showed near zero anxiety. Thats the kind of vet I want. One that goes that extra step. They confirmed he was in fact super healthy, his teeth fine. The previous practice kept saying he had cancer and at one appt suggested amputating his leg due to cancer (which btw, he doesnt have, it was a lipoma. Aka fatty growth) and wanted teeth extracted (which I thought was odd as he had no problem eating kibble.). So glad we didnt listen to the former practice as Animals r Special confirmed he is completely healthy and needs none of that. Loki comes in next week. So: if you want an honest vet, that goes the extra mile for your animal and really knows what they are doing.... You have found the right practice. 100%. We have seen both vets at this practice and recommend both the doctors. You cant go wrong with any of the ppl here. Seriously, Animals R Special is the winning place to go to because at this practice the vets/staff here are more than special, they are extraordinary. And that is what we all want for our furry friends.... The best!

At first, I was uneasy about Charlie's first stay in a kennel, but the employees at Diamond Kennels calmed my nerves. I was able to tour the campus before making a reservation, during which I was able to see the many lodging choices offered. The environment is much like home; I can confidently say that Charlie felt as though Diamond Kennels was his home away from home. On the day of drop off, the personnel could tell I was a bit uneasy. They reminded me that I could call as often as I needed to check on Charlie. Jill sent me photos of Charlie; being able to see Charlie having a good time helped me relax and enjoy my family vacation. When my daughter began to miss our fur-baby, seeing photos of Charlie brought her comfort. I appreciated the updates on Charlie's demeanor, his eating habits, exercise time, and experience during his stay. One day, Charlie had an accident in his room; a staff member called to let me know of the incident. The employees had washed Charlies bedding and offered to give him a bath too. I can truly say that the staff at Diamond Kennels cares for pets as their own. I recommend Diamond Kennels Resort to anyone seeking care for his or her fur-family. Charlie and I look forward to booking his next stay at Diamond Kennels Resort.

Capital Canine - This is Milo!

    Capital Canine

In short: Capital Canine Dog Training gets our highest recommendation. Worth every penny in results…read morefor our (formerly) defiant, anxious min-pin. Longer story: we took in a 2+ year-old rescue miniature-pinscher who was not even housebroken, let alone trained. He would bark at the drop of a hat, snarl at strangers, eat irregularly, sprint out of open doors/attempt escape from fencing, mark inside the house, anxiously guard resources (space and/or closeness to preferred humans), obstinately ignore commands; the run of the gamut for small dog issues. Enter Kevin and Capital Canine Dog Training's "21-Day Board and Train" program. From our initial emails and through the in-home consultation, we could tell we had a good fit with Kevin/Capital Canine. This was someone that understood our concerns and also spoke patiently and realistically about the results we could expect over the three weeks that our dog Milo would spend with Capital Canine. Just as important as the training that Milo would receive from Kevin would be the training that we would need to do to ourselves with help and advice of Capital Canine. Over the 21 days that Milo was in the "Board & Train" program, we got regular updates on his progress via texts, pictures, and videos, showing our boy was in good spirits and making strides. What we thought was impossible, Kevin and his team demonstrated was eminently, if incrementally, achievable with Milo in their hands and across varied exposure environments (in-house, outdoors, and in public places). Following Milo's return home, we (re)introduced our neighbors to this once-fiesty character, and they were shocked. "This can't be the same dog! Who is this sweet boy?" In that moment we couldn't have been more proud of the change in our dog or more relieved in our choice of Capital Canine. But the benefits of the "Board & Train" program didn't end with The Big Reveal. Kevin had three in-home follow-ups with us which were crucial to cementing our understanding of how to be the best stewards of Milo's progress and to monitor his progress and/or difficulties in the time following his return home. Just as we had hoped, Capital Canine planted the seeds of obedience in our dog. Kevin also guided us expertly in our journey toward becoming the kind of dog owner that establishes firm boundaries, consistency, and rewards/corrects properly and proportionately. Our utmost thanks to Kevin and staff at Capital Canine!

Harrison and I are SO glad that we made the decision to train our dog, Hudson, with Capital Canine…read more Kevin is the absolute best, and we fully trusted him with our pup for the 3 week board and train program. Before training, Hudson struggled with separation anxiety, couldn't go in a crate or car, was very impulsive and would run away at the park with unreliable recall and boundaries. He is a very sweet natured and fun dog who is great with people, he just needed help learning how to control his energy. Harrison and I did not know where to begin with training, and we felt overwhelmed. Kevin made it extremely easy for us by doing all the hard work in establishing a behavioral foundation during the 3 week board and train. He even kept Hudson for an extra couple of days as he was committed to getting Hudson comfortable in a crate before bringing him home to us. The transformation has been incredible. After Hudson came home to us, there were immediate improvements. He could hold a place, sit, and down through distraction, and rest in his crate when asked. He understood how the E-collar worked, had better recall, and could heel and walk on a leash without pulling. These basic commands have truly changed our day to day and have helped us create more structure in Hudson's day. On top of the 3 week program, Capital Canine continued to be supportive and helpful. Kevin worked with us in 4 additional sessions after the board and train to teach Harrison and myself how to continue the training throughout different environments and scenarios. He would respond to texts in-between sessions when Harrison and I had questions or were unsure of how we were training. He was a great teacher and helped us understand how dogs think and how we can better communicate with them. We really looked forward to these sessions and enjoyed our time with Kevin! Hudson always had a blast too. A month has now passed since the board and train. We have kept up with Hudson's training and are confident taking Hudson in public, to parks, family and friend's houses, and he is a more confident dog in those spaces. The training has been life changing. I am so happy that we did this, not only because it makes our lives easier, but I also know it makes Hudson's life better too now that he knows boundaries and limits and doesn't have to feel as anxious as before. Highly recommend training with Capital Canine. It is worth the time and investment!

I'll be brief. I recently lost my beloved 6 year old cat at MedVet after his 4 day stay there…read more That loss was very difficult and painful enough, but the over $12,000.00 vet bill for his care and stay made his death much, much worse due to the sad simple fact that MedVet does not offer either any kind of a bereavement discount if your pet dies in their care or any kind of a discount to seniors living on a limited income. Those types of compassionate discounts are something that they very seriously need to think about offering. I think it would seriously help with their ratings (and their ratings could frankly use some help). I honestly do trust that they did everything possible to save my cats life and they all appeared very professional, very caring, compassionate and concerned. However, their billing policies shows very clearly that their final bottom line is that they are very much a "for-profit business" and you should have no illusions about that if you take your pet there for help. The first thing they ask about after getting your name and your pets name and why you are there, is your credit card information. One final thought......please carefully look over their other reviews here (I sincerely wish I had before I took my poor cat there) and then think about what you have read in these reviews a bit and then honestly ask yourself: "Why are so, so many of their reviews only one star?" T.S.
