So I won these super sexy, foxy-lady-magnet wingtip boots on eBay, only to find that the heels were worn all the way to the wood block. Bummer.
I called around to get some quotes, and as soon as the guy from Heel Sew Quick picked up the phone, I felt like I was in an episode of Seinfeld.
First the guy yelled at me for not asking my question fast enough.
Then he lectured me for asking for the price of resoling instead of the price of reheeling.
When I got there and asked if it'd be worth getting them resoled while I was there, he looked at me like I had something stuck in my teeth and dismissed me with a wave of his hand.
And when my boots were done, he got all fussy when I took more than a microsecond to find my ticket number.
Really, it was hilarious. He was like the lovable, belligerent uncle I never had.
The service was cheap and quick enough to do justice to the business's name. I only had time to visit H&M, the watch store and a bathroom before my boots were good to go, upgraded with Goodyear soles and housed in a crinkled plastic bag.
So far, I've only gotten compliments on my boots from dudes, but I'd go back to Heel So Quick in a heartbeat. read more
