Both of my daughters started lessons here several years ago (4? 5?), and both have also worked as staff. It's been a wonderful experience for them. I also have been riding for a few years here as well. When a new student starts riding, they are put on a safe beginner horse. As their skills progress, they are able to move on to other horses that help them grow as a rider. Each horse has something different to teach its rider - be it patience, balance, attention to detail, etc. The barn has a wide range of horses from varied backgrounds, but a rider will never be put on a horse that is not suitable for them. Students are also required to learn how to care for "their" horse - they learn to tack them up, clean out their stalls, etc. It's amazing to see youth who won't clean their own room willingly scooping out a horse's stall! Working with horses requires patience and responsibility, and Mrs. C and her staff instill that in all the riders. Riders get several opportunities to participate in horse shows if they wish - from local ones at the barn to sponsored ones in Spring Grove, IL and Salem, WI. My son started riding here over 5 years ago and now Sharon and the staff are like part of our family! We love the family friendly atmosphere and the overall experience. (I had tried another barn near my home years before finding HH but the lessons were very boring and the kids got no horse experience except to ride. They didn't learn anything about caring for a horse or even how to groom and tack.). I was thrilled to eventually find Heavenly Horses, even though it is a much further drive for us. Sharon, at HH, is a very experienced instructor and teaches both English and Western riding to kids, teens, and adults. My son has learned so much more than just riding, he has learned horsemanship, responsibly, and leadership. My daughter and I have been with this stable for 6 years now. From the day she started it was an amazing accepting feeling thst we were at a special place. Heavenly Horses teaches so much more than just riding. Your child will grow in confidence,respect,and common sense. And not just your child. They offer adult lessons as well. A good horseback ride helps relieves the stresses of everyday troubles. We even got my 83 yr old father back on a horse. He had been a rodeo cowboy back in the 50's. They teach all disciplines of riding,Western,English,Jumping. Whatever you want to focus on. Lessons on trail are offered after you have become a secure enough rider. My daughter April has been riding at Heavenly Horses for a few years now...started out having a great time at summer camp, and now loves working there. Sharon and the "barn family" have always treated my daughter with respect and have always been there to listen to her needs. Yes, watching April learn to ride and jump horses has been an awesome experience, but watching all these people come together as a big family is another. My daughter has been riding at Heavenly Horses now for two years. The horses are well trained and each has their own special personality that will make any novice rider feel safe & comfortable to be around. The students learn so much about horses, their environment, their habits, their personalities, their likes, their dislikes... how to tack, and of course how to ride. This barn is professional , excellent, and sophisticated, It makes sure you get exposed to all the different types of riding (Western, English, Bareback). No matter what level you are you get to have a fun and games home show, which is excellent for kids who want to be in the shows, but aren't. After a year you can be a volunteer at the barn, and maybe a excel to a staff member. Also they don't just offer child lessons they also offer adult lessons. My daughter has been riding for about a year, but haven't excelled, but with HH she's getting better and better. At her old barn she just freshly started trotting. Oh wow is all I have to say!!! This place is the most wonderful environment and teaches my daughter not only about horses but also encourages a strong work ethic. This barn is in a class of it's own! The instructors take great pride in teaching each student not only proper riding and safety but also respect and care for the horses. They teach them how to be firm to gain respect of the horses but always they expect the students to be kind. If you show respect you will gain respect! Wonderful Place! Where you can see and feel God's presence. Both of my daughters as well as myself take weekly lessons as well as participate in shows both in house and outside, weekly summer camps, trail rides and my eldest daughter is a Staff member. We have been with Mrs. C and Heavenly horses for 2 years now and were at another local barn for 5 years prior to coming here and all I can say is I wish we had found this place 5 years earlier. Heavenly Horses is an absolutely amazing place to ride. The horses are wonderful and so are the staff and families! Mrs. C. And Ashley are incredible instructors. I've been riding at Heavenly Horses for 2 years now and I can't wait for each week's lesson. I owned my own horses and rode many years ago but I haven't ridden much recently until I learned of Mrs. C and Heavenly Horses. The adult program is amazing and I've never been to a stable with better horses. My family has been going to Heavenly Horses for years. I have a 15 year old on the spectrum, and she has learned and advanced so much. I have just started my 7 year old with Down Syndrome riding, and Sharon and the staff treat her with respect and have her work on the horse just like any other child. Example - they teach her to brush, carry saddle, walk her horse, etc. This is not specifically therapy riding for kids with disabilities....it is a place where kids with disabilities are treated just like anyone else. Instruction is personal, she works with her students at their level, consistently encouraging and building confidence to improve. Been riding at Heavenly Horses for years. Mrs. C is very passionate about safety of the students and the horses. Great instruction and great Christian environment. Some of the staff is young but very responsible and they love teaching and working with kids. They have adult classes, which is where my wife and I started and are still riding 2-3 times/week. This Barn is the place to be. It is continuously ensured of student and staff safety. It is based on God and the little glimpse of heaven he shows us in horses. My sister and I have been able to create bonds with the horses here. It is a constant reminder that if you give you shall receive. My life has been saved by these horses. I have been riding at Heavenly Horses for about 12 years. Everyone is family either new or old students, we pray for anyone and everyone that needs it. We have amazing horses and staff.
