I'm writing this with real disappointment because this was a clinic I once trusted…read more What made this experience so upsetting wasn't just a billing issue; it was the shift in tone from care to judgment. When I requested my dogs' medical records so they could receive treatment for an active issue, the conversation quickly became focused on "personal responsibility" and payment, even after I explained that I intended to pay the balance and simply needed to prioritize getting my dogs treated first. I was not refusing payment. I was trying to take care of my animals. At one point, the interaction became tense, and I expressed frustration. Recognizing that, I asked to move communication into writing so everything could remain clear and documented. Despite that request, I received multiple calls and texts asking me to continue the conversation by phone rather than responding in writing. That felt inappropriate. When a client requests to communicate in writing, especially in a situation involving access to medical records, that boundary should be respected. More concerning, access to my pets' medical records appeared to be tied to payment in a way that created a barrier to timely care. Whether intended or not, it left me feeling pressured to resolve a financial issue immediately before I could ensure my dogs received treatment. Due to delays in receiving complete records, I incurred additional out-of-pocket costs at another clinic in order to proceed with necessary care. I had previously respected this clinic and the veterinarians here, which is why this experience was so jarring. I hope there is serious reflection on how these situations are handled moving forward, both in terms of policy and how clients are communicated with during stressful circumstances. No one trying to get care for their animals should leave feeling judged or pressured during that process.

I took my cat, Nova, in for a routine spay and she ended up passing away due to hemorrhagic shock…read moreas a result of the sutures being "likely compromised". This was the exact wording that was used on the necropsy report. Dr. Zamora performed the surgery, and I'm currently in the process of filing a complaint against her with the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. The board will then determine if she violated Rule 573.22, Professional Standard of Care and Section 801.402(6) of the Veterinary Licensing Act. I'm happy to post updates on what the board concludes once the investigation is complete, but for now I will include the full details below and you all can decide for yourself if you feel comfortable taking your own pet to this clinic. This event occurred on 1/25/2024. Although I wanted our local community to know about this as soon as possible, I didn't want to compromise my complaint in anyway and I also needed some time to grieve in order to be able to discuss this from a factual standpoint rather than emotional. Nova went in for surgery at 7:15AM. I received a call at 9:52AM and I spoke with Zamora. Zamora informed me that Nova was out of surgery, and we agreed on a pickup time of 4:00PM. At this point I thought everything was fine and planned to leave my place of work at 3:00PM since it's an hour commute to the clinic. Per the surgery records, my cat started showing signs of lethargy at 11:25AM and was unresponsive at 1:30PM. It says in the notes that no bleeding was observed at the uterine stump, but this is inconsistent with the necropsy report which noted hemorrhage at the uterine stump. I had a missed call from Zamora at 2:59PM. Zamora left a voicemail saying Nova needed a blood transfusion, and that they do not have the blood on hand so I would need to take her to an emergency veterinary hospital. This makes me question why this clinic is performing surgeries without having adequate supplies on hand in the event of an error or complication. I was already on the way to pick her up at this time, due to my commute. I arrived at the clinic and rushed Nova to an emergency veterinary hospital nearby, where she unfortunately passed due to hemorrhagic shock. Per the necropsy report: "The suture was in place, but likely compromised. Often postsurgical activities compromise the sutures leading to hemorrhages from the surgical site." Nova was under Zamora's and the clinic's care during the time any "postsurgical activities" would occur between the time of surgery and the time she was unresponsive. I'm disappointed at how slow this moved. If I was informed sooner, I could have left work earlier to get to Nova so that she could receive a blood transfusion sooner. I brought my healthy cat in with no known medical issues, and when I picked her up, she was bleeding internally to the extent of needing a blood transfusion. She was under Zamora's/the clinic's care between those two points in time. The whole ordeal of having to pick up my cat's lifeless, unresponsive body and rush her to an emergency clinic was traumatizing to say the least. I hope that by sharing my story, others can make a more informed decision when selecting veterinary care for their beloved animals. Things like this simply should not happen. Please do better.

When my 16 yr. old cat's behavior suddenly changed, I took him to his vet Nov. 22, 2024 to check if…read morehe was dying or suffering severe blockage. Bubba was a patient at Louetta Veterinary Medical Center for years, with ongoing treatment for chronic constipation. This day, he was seen by an alternate vet. Before she took him to have blood drawn, I warned her he was a stress biter and currently in pain. She didn't ask about vaccines. Soon she returned Bubba and only said bloodwork results would take a few minutes. Later, she explained the results, then casually said Bubba had bit the tech who drew his blood. The tech, not finding a microchip or vaccine record, had called Animal Control without first asking about Bubba's vaccine record! In all years Bubba was a patient at this clinic, rabies shots never was mentioned. At home, I had 12 rabies shot certificates. I discontinued when his health declined as he grew old. Bubba lived only indoors with me, an elderly widow. Seeing me shaken, the vet left the room and another brought pain med for Bubba. He said Animal Control would just call, ask questions and allow home quarantine. I asked to see the bite. The tech showed a single toothpick puncture at base of her thumb that was not bleeding or even bandaged. At night, a uniformed Animal Control officer arrived and asked to see Bubba. He saw no signs of rabies as Bubba calmly purred when the officer pet him. I was allowed home quarantine for 10 days, then a vet had to call Animal Control confirming no signs of rabies. Tragically, Bubba was slowly, painfully dying. I called many other clinics for help. ALL were disgusted at what this clinic did, said their techs expect bites and would never dream of reporting anyone. They agreed to euthanize Bubba, but during quarantine, had to send his body to Animal Control for decapitation to test brain tissue for rabies. I would not get to bury Bubba. I prayed Bubba would make it until the 10th day to close the case, but he died Thanksgiving morning. Animal Control was closed until Sat., so had to keep Bubba's body on ice for 2 days before taking it to them. With tears and a shattered heart, I buried a symbolic teddybear. This clinic argues the legality of the issue. Panhandling also is illegal, yet police do not arrest them because of the human factor. This clinic has lost its heart. It posts no sign to warn it will hurt you if your pet, in fear or pain, nips anyone and is not up to date on rabies shot. I share my traumatizing experience to warn you.

The doctor came in, briefly looked at my cat's eye, put a drop in it, and the entire interaction lasted maybe one minute. After that, I was shocked to be charged $165. No one explained the pricing beforehand. I was never given a price list. The only thing mentioned was a "visit fee," but no one clarified the total expected cost or explained what additional charges would be added. Everything was simply included without transparency. When I questioned the bill and asked why I wasn't informed in advance, I was told: "You didn't ask, so we didn't feel the need to tell you." That response alone says everything about how this clinic operates. It's not about the money -- it's about transparency and honesty. Pet owners deserve to know what they're paying for before being charged. A one-minute exam and one eye drop should not come with surprise charges and dismissive attitudes. I cannot recommend this clinic. Please ask for a full breakdown of costs in writing before agreeing to anything.

I've taken Ruger to several vet visits over the years, and today was the first time I've ever heard him cry during a blood draw. If getting blood drawn hurts when someone is digging around trying to find a vein on a person, what makes anyone think it doesn't hurt a dog? Watching the needle being moved around while trying to find a vein was hard to watch, and it honestly made me question the technique that was being used. Worst of all, there wasn't even an apology or any comfort given to my dog from her part. The veterinarian, Jenny Ponce Hernandez, also didn't introduce herself when she walked in. I actually had to ask who she was. She didn't come across as confident, and that didn't give me much reassurance while my dog was being treated. She also recommended that I spay my German Shepherd before her first heat cycle. I understand vets can have different opinions, but every other veterinarian I've spoken with has recommended waiting until after her first heat so she can fully develop. That recommendation, along with the rest of my experience, just didn't leave me feeling confident. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. I came in expecting a simple, routine visit, but I left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable with the care my dog received.
