For the two events I've been to here, they actually give you a free copy of the authors latest book. I came across the newport civic center park art installment on tik tok and had to visit! This outdoor muesum is actually such a fun experience to do with little ones and as a date idea. The park shares its parking with the Newport Beach Public Library! Which i will say is worth a visit while youre there! The library is massive and super clean! Back to the park, its a fairly easily walk, the whole thing took us approximately 20/25 mins slow paced to walk. Located within the park are dog parks for both small and large dogs (separate). Overall we loved the experience, our favorite were the bunnyhenge statues and the open heart and balloon statue!

Lines clearly drawn. + Lots of fencing around each court, highly reducing ball-on interferences. + Water refill station right by the courts. Pretty big parking lot. The restroom is accessible inside the Community Center during their business hours. Non-likes: - Not a lot of people come here for pick-up pickleball games. You likely have to bring your own people. Others bring their own people for private play or coaching. If you're lucky, you might find nice people there who'll let you join in. - It's near the beach, so strong breezes should be no surprise to you. Despite the wind tarps layered all along the surrounding fence, gusts still definitely affect gameplay. The day I went, there was a boxing tournament inside the Community Center, so parking was PACKED. Struggled to find parking for 10 minutes. What's worse is the other side park prohibits parking there for pickleball players. However, I just got off the phone with an associate who said that this was actually a rare event, and that normally parking is pretty open.

We have so much supplies, food and decorations to bring in to the center. The automatic door opened and i went to the desk to sign in. There she was with a smiling face... KALIA! Kalia greeted us and was so sweet and helpful. She even offered us a cart to bring in all the drinks and food. It's almost as if we were at Kalia Rock Community Center. She made us feel so welcomed and at home. She gave us the 5 cent tour and said move in! If you're ever considering where you should have your family reunion, party or any type of gathering, this community center rocks! We used the bbq grills, the park is a stone's throw away, the kitchen is so spacious, the park set up 28 tables for us... it was absolutely the best venue ever! We originally rented the Center for Founders Village. We paid a deposit and agreed to hire security guards bc we wanted to serve alcohol. More than a month later, Ben calls from the city saying there has been a double booking. We have to change our date, time or venue. Ben provided no evidence that the other group signed a contract before us. We took the high road after FV Rec Center was offered at a discount. We inspected the space and found it to be workable, although not on par with the original space. A couple of days after we agreed to change the space, Ben calls back and says we have to change again. Apparently there is a party scheduled in the adjacent room at FV Rec Center, and it's for teenagers. They did not want us serving alcohol next to teenagers. Again, Ben provided no evidence that the other group signed their contract before ours, which means the teenager party should find another space, not us. We can't change the date, bc several people of the 135 expected are flying in from out of town. We ended up renting space in Santa Ana, bc FV mysteriously didn't want our biz. This is after we rented the Founders space before, and mija has volunteered for the elderly at the center. Everyone we dealt with at the dept that handles renting space is incompetent and a liar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What likely happened is that another party with pull wanted the Founders space, and we got trounced. Then you offer us space we can't have bc of the alcohol matter, when you knew we wanted to serve alcohol. Don't do biz with FV unless you want to get lied to. I am talking to my lawyer about suing the city.
