We gave him a list of the places we wanted to go and he made a few suggested changes based on our conversation. He drove down the back roads to give use the best flavor of the area. We were greeted and shown the layout by the friendly staff. It was a beautiful spot with a retail space, a sit down area and a little window to peek into the kitchen. It was a shame to have shown up when there wasn't any priduction but they did have a tv that showed some of the processes used here. We browsed around the retail, bought a couple things than sat and ordered a few different truffle flavors, hot chocolate and the ice cream. Everything was delicious! I was a huge fan of the ice cream even with the weather not being so warm. The white drinking chocolate was a bit too sweet for me, I would next time do the classic drinking chocolate but the white hot chocolate was tasty! I never really considered actually doing it until I saw a voucher pop up on itison for a place in Blair Atholl. Two seconds later, I'd booked it. I believe the voucher was around £7 pp for a 30 minute experience with an optional upgrade to a full 60 minute ride for an extra £10 pp. It was a little difficult to get a weekend booking as it was close to the end of the voucher so instead I booked for a Friday and got a 1.30pm session. I really didn't know what to expect. Communication from Segway-Ecosse was excellent, David emailed me this morning about the possible bad weather and asking for my contact number in case he needed to get in touch. Thankfully by the time we got to Blair Atholl the weather had cleared up. Trevor was our guide for the session - this guy reminded me a lot of Simon Pegg and he was also comedy gold, so I knew we were in for a treat. Firstly, you get to have a practice in a trial area. This also draws quite a crowd from the caravan park so just pretend they're not watching you. Trevor was an excellent teacher - liked a laugh and was really good at explaining how it all worked. I even made the mistake of joking about segwaying off a cliff and he took it really well. And it is actually really easy to do once you get the hang of it, it feels quite natural in a weird way. You'll start on a restricted speed of 4mph and then when you're out of the caravan park you can go up to 12mph. The hour session is structured in a way that you add a little bit of knowledge on as you go along, e.g. tackling big hills and tree roots and cliffs (haha). I loved absolutely every second of this and never wanted it to end. I even wailed "I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE" as we were driving away. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun (and I spend a lot of time on roller skates). The experience is exhilarating while also being relaxing - we got to see some lovely Highland forrest areas around Blair Castle. I can't wait to go back for the 90 minute ride and am hoping they soon offer all day experiences (with a picnic lunch). I can't recommend this experience highly enough - if you want a fun day out where you feel like you're actually gliding through a forrest with the fun of riding over tree roots, rabbit holes, going up and down hills, weaving in and out of trees, then you've really got to try this.

Now we have all been segwaying before so were very pleased that we were allowed to go a bit more off road than the gentle regular route. We zipped and glided around the Blair Atholl estate and it was spectacular. A great wee set up in a beautiful location. Before I left, I had to buy a bottle of the Original Gin since I truly enjoy G&T's. Brought it home and shared it with close friends and all enjoyed the taste coupled with Fever-Tree tonic and a lime twist, refreshing and delicious.

Booked a day trip for our first full day in Inverness, which was an ideal orientation for the area. John also recommended restaurants, offered great tips on places to go, things to do in the immediate area and other places for the remainder of our itinerary in other parts of Scotland. Tour favorites were Culloden Battlefield, the woolen mill at Elgin, the Elgin Cathedral, the ring cairn at Clava and the distillery tour at Glen Moray. There you can find a cute little shop called Haggard Alley for all things Harry Potter. Worth it. Totally worth it. Especially true if you're a Harry Potter fan as I am, but even if not,…read morethe scenery alone is majestic. There's plenty of info out there on how to book, routes, etc, so I won't go into that here. Tips I'll share: 1) book early - don't even think about trying to arrange this the night before. 2) don't do first class - while it's more comfy and usually our type of travel, we booked on one of the cars toward the back. That way you can see and video/snap pics of the front of the train as it goes over the viaduct. Makes you think lightening struck your forehead. 3) sit on the left side - if you're in the car facing to the front of the train, make sure your seat is on the left side. A much better view of the train going over the viaduct. 4) drink a beer or wine - even if it's 9:30 in the morning, which it was for us, have a brewskie...you're on vacation. 5) eat fast in Mallaig - don't spend a lot of time choosing restaurants. Pick a place the night before. When you arrive at Mallaig, run your happy bum to the restaurant you chose, order (and don't even try to get starters first then mains) and eat. You can take pics afterwards. Restaurants there are small, get slammed with each Twain's arrival, plus the local tourists who come by car. Hope this helps!
