They are a referral service only. Purple Heart Veterans gave us a three day window for picking up our things. I was assured that 90% get picked up on your first choice of days. Well, they didn't even show up within the three day window. Finally, two men who were in an Enterprise Rental Truck pulled up. First things first, they wanted more money. A lot more. When I asked for a photo i.d., the head mover started yelling at me. I threw him out of my house. It was 4:00 in the afternoon of Friday, May 18. We had no clue what to do. i got on the internet and searched for a local mover. Luckily, my first call went to Rockford Family Movers. Steve answered his phone. I explained my situation. He was currently on a job. They would be done by 7:00 p.m. THEN THEY WOULD MOVE US 1480 MILES TO FT. MYERS BEACH, FLORIDA!! I asked him to please be sure to show up and he told me that his word was his bond and he would be at my house. He and his brother arrived about 9:00 p.m. They loaded our boxes and furniture and other loose ends and were gone by midnight on Friday. They pulled into my new place at 11:00 p.m. the next night. 23 hours of driving to get here. They unloaded all of it, assembled our bed, put boxes in the right rooms and even hauled out left over furniture. Then they got right in their truck and drove home. Steve and his brother are super nice guys. Polite, professional, friendly, accommodating. They never acted put out about anything. They delivered exactly as they said they would. Hard to find in this day and age. Again, Steve's word is his bond. We can not say enough about Rockford Family Movers. The price was fair. The service outstanding and the results fantastic. If you are reading this and are looking for a mover, then call Rockford Family Movers. You'll be really glad you did.

First, their response time for getting back to you with a quote is horrible. And when I finally received a quote, it was not in writing. Second, when the day came for them to move me, they showed up late with a truck that was falling apart. Parts of it were rusting, one of the rear tires on the double axle was flat and hanging on the rim, the gas tank had a piece of plastic stuffed in it to function as a gas cap, and the truck failed to start when they tried to back it up to the storage unit. When the employees called the owner, he cussed a blue streak on the phone and hung up angrily. When he called his employees back again, his attitude was less than professional. The movers themselves were talking about how the truck was unreliable as well. They informed me that the owner would be there in 20 min and I told them to call me when he got there. The next call I received was not from the owner but from the moving crew that had been talking about how unreliable the truck was. I asked them if the owner brought another moving truck or trailer, and they informed me that they had managed to start the truck and were ready to move me. I told them I wasn't comfortable with them using that truck, to which they replied, "F^&K you then." The owner failed to call me at any time to inform me of what was going on or how he planned to complete the move. As a result of their poor customer service, I have now incurred additional storage fees. As a result, I cannot in good conscience recommend this business.

Let me start by saying if I could give zero stars here, I would…read more I contacted this company about a move, indicating that I was moving from a 2nd floor 1 bedroom with approximately 1700 lbs worth of stuff to a 1st floor apartment about half a mile away. They sent me an estimate for $402 that included 3 movers at $115/hr as well as a $57.50 truck rental. Because I didn't have that much stuff we estimated that, all told, it would take about 3 hours. Everything seemed fine, so I e-signed the estimate and arranged for a move window between 11am and 1pm. The first red flag was when they told me they didn't take credit cards--only cash or check. In 2019 that's a little suspect, and who even has a check book anymore, but they came recommended to me, so I pulled out $500 cash just incase the move went over a little. On the day of the move 4 guys arrived, and the leader informed me it was now a fee of $145/hr, plus a higher fee for the truck. Then he looked at my apartment and told me that all of my stuff would take 4-6 hrs to move. All told, on the spot he told me the move would be at least $800 and that if I don't have the cash to cover it, they would only move an estimated $500 worth of my stuff. It was the last day of the month and I had to be out, so I started panicking. I told him I didn't have $800 to spend on this move and that all of this wasn't in the agreement I e-signed. He told me I could always Chase pay him the difference. And that's when I knew this guy was trying to run a scam. I called his boss who kept telling me that 4 guys were better than 3 and it would take less time. He absolutely would not listen to me when kept saying this was not what we scoped for nor was it what I had signed on for. He assured me that the movers would move my things and we could work out the difference later if it went over. During the move out the lead guy lectured me on how much stuff I have and told me my TV table was cheap and I should buy a nicer one. And even though my landlord required all moving to be done out the back of the building, he didn't like how far the walk was, so he informed me he'd be using the front door. Two things: First of all, I don't have a lot of stuff. I'm not a minimalist, but I'm def not a hoarder either. It was a normal (and clean) 1 bedroom apartment. Second I like my TV table, but yeah, it was cheap because I like saving money. But that is beside the point. In the end, we didn't go over on cost, because like I said, I really didn't have that much stuff. The whole process took just over two hours. On the other hand, the movers didn't move all of my things. They refused to take my computer and some boxes that had my cleaning supplies in them. The guy said he might break the computer and didn't want to be responsible for it, and that the cleaning supplies were liquid and he didn't want to deal with them. I ended up having to make two additional Uber trips to get the remaining items to my new place. One last thing about this whole miserable experience--one of the movers took a massive shit in my new bathroom and the apartment smelled like it for about an hour after the fact, despite the opening of windows. I will not be using these people again.

She moved to her new home and this company didn't deliver her goods and didn't answer her multitude of calls and emails. Finally they said they would deliver everything but wanted significantly more money than originally stated. It's months later and my friend's bank stopped payment to try and get things delivered. She is a disabled veteran and a widow who is facing major surgery. Still no delivery and now they want cash or cashiers check. She desperately needs her household goods, most importantly, her spare prosthesis. Changing them is critical so she doesn't get blisters, which has now occurred. This will compromise her mobility. She needs to travel to Seattle for this critical surgery. The people who have finally contacted her all use the name Alex. So she has no idea who she is really speaking with. She still has no delivery date! If this wasn't enough, yesterday she got an email from a person who moved from Alaska to Denver. They used this same company. They were also told they underestimated their costs and doubled their costs! When they started opening and unpacking boxes, they have found 7 boxes of things that don't belong to them. By searching them items, they found information on my friend's bank stopped. These 7 boxes belong to my friend! Luckily they were honest enough to let her know. Still, no dates and no plans for this company to get those boxes sent to her as well. They also refuse to let her pay by credit card. A formal complaint is being filed with FMCSA. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and Department of Transportation. The price moving it 82 miles was very fair and booking was easy. They promised a Wednesday delivery and held to it on time. The move was not easy to do as the 500lb table had to be carried out the rear of the house, up a grassy hill slope which was covered in snow and ice. Their crew was crafty and used the ramps and plywood to create a walkway which got the job done. These guys are above & beyond. Yes, hire them!
