His rooftop inspection showed a rusted chimney cap, which he offered to sand and seal for a fraction of the cost of replacing it with stainless steel. He offered to do this but did not push us to do so; we ended up having him take care of this, too, and are very pleased with the results. He did great work at a lower price point than the other places I called. Highly recommend him!

The firefighters removed the stove pipe from the wood stove to the ceiling 18 feet above and from the roof up to the chimney cap: they wanted to be sure that there was no fire anywhere. After the "all clear", we made four calls to find someone to put us back together: we needed heat. Two did not provide a return call. One could put us on a list. Mike called back within 30 minutes and was at our place within 90 minutes. Not really knowing the conditions of our place, he offered and brought special cleaning supplies for the fine dust of the ash and fire extinguisher. He assessed the situation and got to work. Not only was he professional and efficient, he was empathetic, personal and funny. We cleaned. He reassembled; was very thorough about being sure things went back together to ensure safety; taught us things about fire building and maintenance; and ensured that we had heat from the wood stove by 5pm. Mike will now be part of our annual wood stove maintenance program. We are very grateful to the fire fighters and Mike who took very good care of us in this emergency. Thanks Mike!

Customer service was overall good during the purchasing process of the fireplace. The issues began…read morewhen they were getting started to begin the work. They provided a quote to install the gas line from the basement to the fireplace, but I ended up having my professional plumber install the gas line to the fireplace in advance of them installing it because of cost. During the installation they refused to hook it up because of what they claimed was liability. I explained to them that it was installed by a professional plumber and that I was told that I had to get the gas to the fireplace which is what I did hoping that our family could enjoy the fireplace. After they left without hooking up the gas, and 2-weeks later and an additional bill from my plumber we have the fireplace going. It ended up that their service team was just upset that I ran the gas line independently of their quote therefore just trying to cause more frustration and additional cost to me to get the fireplace going. Anybody going with these guys watch out if something goes wrong or not in their favor, they will screw you over and won't feel any remorse for it.

Do Not Use This Company!! They install incorrect equipment…read morevia SEMCAC pgm!! THEY DONT INSTALL COMPLETE SYSTEM - nor did they install a furnace for for Zone MN is in! The furnace they picked & installed is for a coastal zone NOT MN! Then they did not install new chimney with new furnace!! By not finishing properly warranty is negated & furnace won't work. Then they spent 6 wks trying to find problem & expect me to pay $500 when Steve finally called on 1)6/23 to tell me they didn't install the chimney & that was problem! Can't switch out a chimney in January AND they Stole the New Chimney so before I could install a new chimney I HAD TO BUY A NEW CHIMNEY!! I had to hire a diff company to finish the job as Arens just left me with zilch!! Refused to return phone calls!! After All Was Done: I had to pay over $3000 to fix the problem created by Arens Heating & Use of the SEMCAC Pgm!! Neither the City of Austin Nor the SEMCAC pgm inspected this installation as both are supposed to do according to SEMCAC pgm!! SEMCAC is Worthless without oversight!! Now it's 1/3/25 & this inappropriate zone furnace is Not Working AGAIN!! I'd known Arens for 40 yrs - THEY WERE FRIENDS - NOT ANY MORE!!! This was a job done for my 90 yo Mom who was participating in SEMCAC pgm when Arens did install incorrectly. She could have died due to their incompetence as not switching out the chimney on new furnace can cause a fire &/or carbon monoxide poisoning according to mfg's I contacted!!
