I have done my first aid training here for years. As a registered practical nurse I do not want to do the easiest course or the fastest course. Instead, I would rather do the most detailed course and the most up-to-date course. They do a fabulous job of sharing information and updates to standards. The instructors/certifiers/teachers are always super knowledgeable. I happen to enjoy the wide variety of individuals who end up taking the course together. Good open space. A convenient downtown location to get your first aid/CPR certification with great staff in a comfortable environment. You can go to the website to see the plethora of courses they offer, but I will just offer my personal experience here. I was getting my CPR recertification and gave this place a try. First of all, they are very helpful in providing registered students with the course details, what to expect/bring, and prompts you with email reminder of your upcoming courses. The teacher leading the class (Nicole) seemed very experienced, and did her best to make the (sometimes rather banal) course material, interesting. Most importantly, she made sure that her students will be ready to help someone in need to the best of their abilities and knowledge. There was passion in her teaching, and I really appreciated it. Their courses are frequent and well-led. I am recommending this place to all my colleagues who might need the certification for their jobs. PS. They are with Red Cross - a legit institution to get yourselves certified. PPS. You have the option to your certification lamented for a loonie! read more

Good first aid / CPR training with a lively instructor. Going into the 2-day course I expected total boredom and a lecture style teaching environment. Fortunately, the course consisted of videos, hands on practice, role playing with other students, and lively anecdotes from the instructor about her friends and relatives. "My cousin was riding his motorbike for the first time when . . ." Creating a sling yourself or being forced to interview a potential spinal trauma victim makes you actively think about the procedure instead of simply memorizing things to pass the test. Downsides of "Heart 2 Heart": (1) They make you pay an extra $2 to laminate your card. Why not just give us laminated cards to begin with? The "tacked on" expense comes out of nowhere and just seems like a cash grab. It's not a lot of money, but it's kind of annoying. (2) The online registration seemed to be useless. We had to register again on the first day. Overall, my complaints are quite minor and the training seemed good. I would recommend this place to others or go there again myself. * thumbs up * read more

I would not suggest booking any training with this company as they overbook their classes. They treat it as first come, first serve and your reservation and payment does not mean anything. I paid for my courae on May 26 and was turned away from the class today (after taking time off work to be there).. A supervisor was supposed to call me back to discuss refund/options to reschedule and never did. I don't understand how they can over book a course and not reach out to their customers to make alternative arrangements. read more

I attended the course this past Saturday with my son. Our instructors, Anthony and Kerry were fantastic. They kept the course interesting and worked well as a team. If you're like me and your employer requires you to renew your CPR every couple years, you could do worse than Heart 2 Heart CPR. The good: Location! It's on carleton, near parliament, so it's central and very easily ttc-able. Scheduling! They offer at least a few classes each week, with offerings on different days as well as evenings and weekends. Registration! Easy peasy. Click a button on the website and you're in. When you arrive you write down your name and indicate which class you want and that's that. Class selection! They offer both first time and recertification courses for CPR (regular and HCP level), first aid, and probably other stuff that I didn't read about. The ok: Price. I paid $60 for my HCP CPR recert. It's not obscene, but it's not great. The space. It's a walk down from street level to the registration space. There are two classroom spaces - mine was in the lower level and it was fine. Institutional grey carpet, no decoration to speak of. I don't need more, but it wasn't wowing me. Class size. There were 15 or so folks in my class, which again isn't outrageous, but is enough that there's at least one slow poke holding the rest of the gang up and there's some waiting around while the instructor watches each group perform the required skills. Length. I have to do this every couple years. It's tedious. Repetitive. Boring. And boring. This class was the first time I've ever had to spend the full four hours in a recert class. Usually we're able to cover the material and still get out early since everyone in the class a) works in health care and b) has done the course before. I know there are requirements for CPR courses, I'm just saying other folks have found ways to work around them. I'll likely return to Heart 2 Heart for my next recert. The class was long and dull but they're on my streetcar line and the offer classes pretty much anytime I want to take one. That'll do for me. read more

The course I did with Heart to Heart was the best first aid I've ever done. They make it really fun and easy to learn. They combine high quality video segments, lecture/discussion and especially practical hands on skills. The DVD was really good and it was directed and hosted by the owner of Heart to Heart. He popped in to say hello which I really appreciated. I thought my instructor was really engaging and I actually feel confident in my skills. I wasn't bored at all and the day went by so quickly. They make everyone do a multiple choice test...which is easy. The facility is perfect. Street front and easy to get to. Transit accessible. I also know they have training locations in Scarborough, Markham, Richmond Hill and Yorkdale. The classroom was really clean. They have two bathrooms and a kitchen area where you can make yourself coffee or tea. I really appreciate a clean environment...especially when you are on the floor doing skills. Everyone seemed to have really enjoyed it. There was a positive vibe. I really liked it. I highly recommend and will go back for sure! read more
