I felt completely comfortable and at ease having her there which is so important when inviting another person to be present at your birth. The pictures she took were absolutely incredible. She managed to capture the true essence of my birthing experience and I feel so blessed to have these photos to look back on. In addition, she is so sweet and thoughtful. I really couldn't recommend Erica enough as a birth photographer!

From beginning to end, she was helpful, thoughtful, unassuming, knowledgable and professional. Our prenatal meetings were great opportunities to set the tone for our birth, helping us to identify our needs and intentions as a couple while also building rapport. Her attendance at our son's birth was incredibly helpful for both me and my husband. She offered support, guidance and calm and consistent energy when needed. She was never intrusive, always knowing when to step in with words of encouragement and when to be a calm support, letting my husband and I work together through the process. As a sweet bonus, she took some *wonderful* photos as we shared our first moments as a family of three - images we will cherish for years and will someday show our son as we tell him his story. We would hire Erica again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her services!

There is a lot of love for the midwife center here and much of it is hard won and well deserved…read more Their space is beautiful and modern. Most staff are kind and professional. I appreciate their holistic, personalized approach to healthcare - (they've asked me some thoughtful, out-of-the-box questions and do take interest in the whole picture of your health) - as well as their progressive lean and focus on healthcare accessibility. I was a patient here for over a year and I can tell you that all of these things are the real deal. The weaknesses of this practice - in my layperson opinion - are as follows: 1) Limited scope. They aren't an OB/GYN, and can't really take the place of one. As one of the nurses very snippily told me, they "don't practice medicine", sounding like I had walked into an Applebee's and asked them to operate on my foot. They practice nursing, I get that - I only expect a medical provider to, you know, help me, and not make my issue worse. Lots of folks do prefer midwives to the traditional MDs & DOs, and I can appreciate that, but their ability to diagnose and treat is much more limited than they advertise. For me, this meant visits with three different providers, a misdiagnosis, unnecessary meds, lots of invasive stuff, hundreds of dollars of unnecessary tests, and one sad patient with no answers. I wish they had recognized when something was maybe a little beyond their scope and just referred me out on the front end, saving me a whole bunch of misery. As with most things in life, YMMV. A limited scope of practice might be okay for you! If you're the picture of health and just want to pop in for your annual or grab a birth control script, AND if you're already connected with a solid gynecologist to see for any real problems, this facility might very well meet your needs. Because - my next point: 2) Continuity of care is lacking. They suck at referrals. I was initially told that they have a select few GYNs in the community with whom they work closely and collaboratively. But when I actually needed this referral, I was sent five+ pages of basically an indecipherable, broken wall of text and told I could self-refer to "that clinic at Magee" but that I didn't really "need" to. How helpful is that? 3) Pretty unprofessional billing/recordkeeping practices - I've gotten multiple bills addressed to the wrong person for my own care and have gotten bills with handwriting and white out on them. Their EMR/portal with Maternity Neighborhood is pretty poor quality and I've seen another patient's medical records mixed in with my own! A little concerning. Ultimately, my health concern was promptly addressed and treated at my first visit with an MD elsewhere and I don't intend on returning to this clinic. I do feel this place has a lot of potential and I respect all the positive reviews, but to me the concerns outweigh the benefits. I'd rather go to a more professional clinic with a higher capacity for service.

I loved that they actually listened to me and valued my opinions and beliefs as a person. My birth went so beautifully, and it is nice to have lovely memories of such a special time in our lives. It was also restful to experience the first few days of my son's life at home with our family instead of lying around in a hospital. I have since been back for well-woman care and have also had terrific experiences with them. The midwives are thorough and truly take their time to answer your questions and listen. I wish more healthcare was like this!

While Suzy, the boss, is very kind and supportive, our experience with Jurisa as a caregiver was…read moredeeply troubling and ultimately unacceptable. Jurisa repeatedly placed our newborn in completely unsafe sleeping situations, first on a couch, then in a Tripp Trapp high chair with a newborn insert, which is absolutely not intended for sleep. When we addressed this serious safety concern, her response was to swaddle our baby so tightly that he was sweating and visibly overheated when we found him in the morning. This showed a shocking lack of understanding of basic infant care and safety. In addition to these concerns, Jurisa was late every single day she was scheduled to work. She even told us in advance that she might be up to 30 minutes late one day because of a volleyball game, as if that were acceptable in a professional childcare setting. It was clear that punctuality and commitment were not priorities for her. We are incredibly disappointed and feel strongly that Jurisa should not be entrusted with the care of infants. No parent should have to worry about the safety of their child or be left wondering if their caregiver will even show up on time.

I can't say enough good things about having a doula, both for during birth and after. With our…read morefirst child, we used an after birth doula for one or two evenings a week. It was a sanity saver. You just don't know how bad sleep deprivation is until you have a night or two of respite. Michelle was wonderful and we were so grateful for her help. Our second child had the worst case of gas, and would only sleep for 15 minute intervals at a time before needing help to go back down. After nights of baby crying (and mom too, from exhausted frustration), we used the doula network to source a whole team of doulas for help. Heather and her team (a special shout out to Sandra!) were absolutely amazing to work with. Heather in particular was always there to lend an ear, give advice, and think through sleep issues. If you have a new little one and the financial means to outsource a few nights (or days), I can not recommend this service enough. It's no joke that it takes a village, but many young families now live far away from familial means of support during the first few months. Heather has put together a fantastic team of doulas to help you get through this tough time.

The Yoga Whole studio offers a safe, quaint, and intimate setting which allowed me to connect with both mind and body (and baby!).and practice freely. As a newbie to yoga, I found Debbie's classes incredibly approachable as her classes are geared towards keeping a woman comfortable during pregnancy and providing her with a toolbox of comfort measures to turn to during labor and delivery. Like a true professional, she always stressed the importance of listening to your body and offered alternatives to poses when 1.) they were either too cumbersome for me (as I approached the end of pregnancy), 2.) I felt I could push my body a little further and try some more challenging positions. Her routines provided safe, practical exercises that always stressed the importance of bringing internal balance in the pregnant body as a way to bring about a more comfortable and easier birth. Debbie emits a calm, reassuring, and motherly presence; she is steady, cool and an excellent listener. Her goal is always to put moms and babies first and her holistic approach stresses the importance of honoring the mother's/family's wishes and preferences to bring forth a positive birthing experience. Her ultimate goal is to provide each and every woman with the tools and knowledge she needs to feel confident and capable during pregnancy and delivery. From an emotional standpoint, Debbie was very supportive of me in my VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) journey. I always felt she was in my corner and rooting for me to succeed. She constantly reminded me of my ability to birth my baby and was always happy to share input and resources (she has a collection of books, DVDs, etc. you can borrow from her studio as well). I'm happy to note I had an incredibly precipitous (fast), complication and intervention-free vaginal birth at the end of last year. I truly believe the combination of the physical/mental preparation Debbie's yoga classes provided me along with regular exercise and Webster technique chiropractic adjustments were the major contributors to my positive experience. I strongly believe the physical work as well as the emotional preparation I gleaned from her classes transformed my body/mind into the optimal vessel for a swift and uncomplicated delivery. I would adamantly encourage any and all pregnant women to reach out to Debbie about her pre-natal yoga and doula services

We had a lot of questions and fears, and Riverbend helped us avoid feelings of overwhelm when it came to researching and making decisions about it. They are extremely informed about options for birthing people, and always had some kind of suggestion or insight into the process. Our birth itself was also made easier by having people who have been through this before to consult through early labor and who understood the way our hospital worked. Post partum, Marlee's kind and nonjudgmental guidance during some difficulties with feeding were particularly invaluable. She was able to help me pump comfortably and effectively, and also helped me get to a better place mentally about that process. Marlee is also great at finding pain points in the fog of newborn parenting and helping make things a little easier, even when it may not have occurred to you that there is anything to be done! Thank you Riverbend Birth for your immense compassion and insight as we brought our baby into the world!

We opted to take all four of the classes they offer and we are so glad we did! Each class was the perfect mix of reflection, information, and time for questions. They stay up to date with new researchers in various fields and had tons of invaluable information and insight. This was our first pregnancy and birth, so we had tons of questions. It was so nice to talk out our hopes and fears with them, I definitely felt more at ease after the classes. At our birth, we ended up working with both Megan and marlee (my labor was a bit long). After the birth, I was struggling with breastfeeding. Marlee was able to provide excellent advice and help us stick with it! Both of them are amazing and have wonderful tools and bedside manner. All the tips and tricks they recommend really do work! If you are looking for kind, open minded, knowledgeable, and passionate doulas, look no further!
