The imaginatively named Tantastic is my local tanning salon and is a lovely little place with fun staff (who definitely take advantage of where they work). Tantastic offers stand up tanning booths and the staff seem to know an awful lot about the art of tanning and always encourage you to purchase the protective cream which will also enhance and maintain the colour (apparently). They regularly offer discounts for a group of sessions but I usually opt for the 50p per minute price as tend to go quite sporadically. I have no complaints and find it fairly inexpensive.

On Thursday I went to the Bliss counter at Debenhams Oxford Street which also has a spa. It is a…read morelittle bit weird to have a spa service directly next to one entrance and under the eyes of any passing customer, but hey, if the service is good ... I had a triple oxygen facial. A bit nervous before as I had never tried bliss face products before I went and filled in a little questionaire about my skin and skincare. I was asked what my preferences were and which parts of my skin I wanted particular attention to. When Micha started the treatment I was looking forward to it. The products she used were good for my skin and the way she applied them felt professional. One reason I will only give 4 stars here is that I did not really know what was happening to me. She did not say what she was using or which step would follow but instead just went ahead. That is maybe a suggestion for the future. Apart from that I had a really good experience. Good music from Beyonce was playing in the background and the service was professional. The facial was GBP 50 for 50 minutes which is a reasonable price. My skin felt great afterwards and especially my eye area felt very hydrated. Thanks for the treatment and with just some small changes, this could become my regular place for a facial.

This shop is covered from top to bottom with specialist make-up with every available width of mascara, every imaginable shade, every style of brush as well as the most hi-tech special effect make-up available. Screenface often collaborates with giant film and television names as their core make-up suppliers. If you are looking for a drastic make-up do, this is the place to get your materials. Or perhaps, since it is quite a pricey shop, pop in and get your inspiration than find a cheaper alternative. My personal favourites are the crazy range of available fake lashes they sell. Amazing.

When I arrived at the salon for my spray tan, I was talked through the process and made to feel at ease straight away. I've been a long time patron of this beauty school. Spa services in London are so expensive and so…read morehit-and-miss that I can't stomach paying a ton for them, so the first time I saw the services menu with the really affordable prices on it, I had to give them a try. In the past 3 years or so I've tried a number of the treatments offered, and they've ranged from mediocre to very good. Never excellent, but also never bad. Your treatment is given by a student at the school, who might be anywhere along the time line of her training. At the end of the treatment you are asked to fill out a brief questionnaire about your experience, how you liked it, what you would have had done differently, etc. So you're also contributing to the education of a student, which feels almost like volunteer work. So, for a full body Swedish massage, one full hour, you pay 22 pounds. I haven't seen anything cheaper in town, and I'm a massage enthusiast. And as I said, I've had some really really nice ones, and some just ok ones. Haven't had a pedicure here because they don't have proper pedicure chairs in the facility, and I can soak my feet in a pot of water at home. The manicure is basic and nice, however. They also do a pre-massage infra-red treatment which warms up the muscles so you get more out of your massage. They're also really good about giving you post-treatment advice about future behaviours and products. Oh also had a facial here once that was really nice. Basically it's the best place to go for affordable beauty treatments in central London. And they're always really super nice to you. Only problem is they don't usually take walk-ins, you have to book ahead. But you can book several treatments back to back and treat yourself to a spa day at a ridiculously cheap price. I'm surprised this place isn't booked out months in advance. Oh also I see men in there a lot, which is cool. All are welcome.

The procedures are on the most competitive prices in London. Don't hesitate because of the students, I can assure you that most of the people that study here, work more professionally and have more knowledge that the ones at your local salon. Which is great is that you can give tips, recommendations and tell the person that is treating you, how would you like to be treated or what would you like to change. You can basically instruct the students and you'll also be helping them in their future career. I graduated the Advanced Make-up Design, but like I said, you can get any beauty treatment here, not just Make-up.
