We tried two different therapists virtually and both of them took quite a bit of time to come up with strategies and coping skills that might help her. Counting to 10 and telling her to journal were the biggest pieces of advice she received. In both cases, the therapist decided that she was doing so well that they would move her weekly appointments to every 2 to 3 weeks without consulting me or my husband. I read this prior review and was shocked. …read more I had a fabulous experience. I'm still undergoing treatments for depression that I've had for years. Abby was so helpful explaining the insurance process to me. This procedure(s) is not like going to the doctor for a blood test. These treatments have to be approved and the doctors have to jump through hoops to get insurance to approve these claims. My doctor was so thorough in explaining everything. It's frustrating how insurance companies dictate what kind of treatment I can get. I really appreciate the extra effort these professionals took to get insurance approved for me. I understand that I have to be my own advocate and I kept in close contact with the office to check on my status and to see if they needed me to call insurance. I was thoroughly impressed with the professionals I worked with and truly appreciate their hard work and dedication!!

Dr. Nishant Parikh was wonderful. He took all the time needed to explain and answer all of my questions in the face to face consultation. Now, sadly, the office personnel Jerica, and the patient coordinator Abby were terrible. My face to face consultation with the Dr. was on Apr. 3, 2023. I was told then, by Abby, the patient coordinator, that she would contact me by the end of that week with the next steps I needed to take in order to get the treatment started. She never did. So, I followed up by calling the office the following Monday to find out when I would hear from Abby. Jerica, the office personnel, told me she would personally contact me by the end of the day with an update. Jerica never did, so I called again the next day. Jerica gave me a date when the treatment would begin, which was April 17, but said she needed to confirm with Abby and that I would need to respond to an email that would be sent to me by Abby. She said I would hear from one of them by the end of the day. That was April 11th. Neither EVER contacted me (yes, I checked my SPAM mail) and here it is, April 19th. It is like I was just forgotten about. With all of this, I realize that it isn't God's will for me to get this treatment at this time. However, I never should have had this experience. This clinic is dealing with people who struggle with mental illness. Many of us don't have the capacity to deal with this kind of incompetence. I hope this review will cause change and that others won't have to go through what I have went through.

This company has a doctor that prescribes suboxone, methadone and any kind of medications a person needs to get off drugs. I called today and they had an appointment for me by the end of the week....NO WAIT LISTS!! Their counselors are very nice and they have alot of knowledge on substance abuse. Last but not least, if you don't have health insurance, they can still see you! They will put you on a payment plan. I think that's awesome. His therapeutic style is very relaxed and conversational, yet still professional. I appreciate the casual feel it gives as I am able to be remain comfortable throughout our sessions together. We really work well together, discussing serious matters like family issues or ongoing mental health, but we'll also joke a little bit every now and then to lighten the heavy mood. I'm grateful that he is so attuned to what I'm feeling and being able to adjust the style of the conversation as needed. I've never been to therapy prior to him, so I must say that I really lucked out on being paired with him especially due to the severe anxiety I was dealing with when I first began seeing him. He also has apologized for any short notice cancellations (which are very rare) he may have to make and always encourages me to reschedule with the front office as soon as I am able. I truly appreciate how kind and considerate he is overall. I can tell that he's not just an excellent social worker but a great human being. In fact, he has inspired me to become a social worker and future LCSW as well. I aspire to be at least half as good a therapist as he is. And I must mention that Kim Rodgers is an amazing secretary. She always says hello to me when I make it into the office (I have had to move my sessions to mostly TeleHealth due to financial strain) and asks me how I am. She also is kind enough to ask me if I'd like a water which is great because I sometimes leave my water at home and am thirsty before sessions. I do enjoy our brief chats (if she isn't busy answering phone calls, rescheduling sessions, responding to emails, etc.) before Michael steps out to grab me. As Michael has said, the administration is an integral part of the rockstar team that makes up Family Guidance Centers. All administrative staff I have spoken to over the last couple years have all been kind and willing to assist me in rescheduling appointments or canceling (which has only happened once!). None of them have ever had a bad attitude or made me feel uncomfortable trying to receive help. I'm truly grateful for Family Guidance Centers and all they do to help their community. Couldn't ask for better. -Kat Hughes P.S. Before I forget, the Brandermill office location is always very clean and smells good. I wish I knew what it was they were using, if it's a wall plug in or what!! I would totally buy it for myself, lol!
