Both my mom and grandma had nothing but good things to say. The staff was attentive and caring. Always smiling. I wanted to specifically say that a nurse assistant named Sherri was stellar. Also Carrie , Dwayne and Jerome. Not only is it rare to find a good place like this, but to even find one good employee. Here there were many. Also my grandma couldn't stop talking about the food. Don't let this place fool you by the looks. My mom said that it looks old and that worried her at first. But it was clean and cared for. Just aging. Do consider this hospital. Awesome work everyone!!!

This morning my mother was on the way to the center and when she got there my grandmother was unconscious, the staff did nothing and if my mother wasn't there things could have gone another way. My grandmother told the staff she could not breathe multiple times (she told us this when she came to at the hospital)and they did nothing!!! When mom said she's calling 911 and asked what happened they kept telling her no please ( they must get in trouble if someone else calls) and they finally called. My mother talked to her 45 mins prior to arriving and she was awake so this happened within a 45 minute span. She couldn't even get proper care for 24 hours without almost losing her life. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!!!! Thank God my mom was there

Raleigh Rehab cheated me. They received Medicare payments for my late husband's stay there AND…read morecollected payments from me too. My husband ran out of Medicare coverage for skilled nursing facilities last Fall. How Raleigh Rehab was able to bill Medicare is something to be explored. Since I paid in advance for my husband's stay there I am still waiting for reimbursement from them because he was moved to hospice in the middle of the month. Raleigh Rehab said they'd "Look into it." but I haven't heard anything from them even though six weeks has passed. On Monday I will turn this whole mess over to Medicare. I feel assured they will investigate and take the appropriate action.

Duke Specialty Rehab Services Midtown features some of the worst customer service and most…read morebelligerent staff, from front desk, to therapists, and management I've ever seen or experienced. Every visit to this office has been a battle and uphill climb. Front desk staff badger and harass clients and are offensively aggressive and unfriendly about social distancing enforcement. If you are even one minute late you are usually turned away and laughed at and made fun of behind your back by the front desk staff (I watched firsthand and listened to their commentary as someone was turned away after pleading their case with an impassive complement of front desk staff). Therapists make faces, roll their eyes, and sigh when dealing with patients that may have medical issues or need more time. I have seen therapists be downright rude, berating and yelling at clients and family members, taking their personal issues and grievances out on those in their care. The general climate and reception one receives at this office is one of apathy and disdain. When further input or follow up is requested from management about issues with therapists or front desk staff, there is no phone call or response. No action is taken to find out what the issues are and/or make things better. Yes, we are in the midst of a pandemic but there is no need to be rude, unhappy, and unpleasant because of it across all levels of staff. If front desk, therapy, and management dislike their areas of practice to this extent, perhaps they would best be served by considering a radical career change. It's unnecessary to make an already trying time that much worse. For the office's management and beyond that for Duke to not even acknowledge, communicate about, or address problems at this location seems unconscionable. If I had a choice, not only would I not receive care at any other Duke-affiliated provider but I would research and carefully consider other locations and their reviews for physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Having to go though difficulty because of a health event and needing therapy is bad enough without having to contend with unfriendly staff with what seems like embedded ill will. The quality of care suffers when caregivers harbor and promote a negative environment. It makes it that much more difficult to trust providers and feel safe. It makes a time when you are vulnerable worse and is a counterproductive stumbling block to healing and recovery. I can't recommend more strongly that you seek your care and a better patient experience elsewhere. Unfortunately--in spite of the Duke name and unless you are a "good" patient with minimal therapy needs that arrives half an hour to an hour before your appointment and follows social distancing guidelines perfectly in spite of any cognitive or other deficits you are experiencing due to your injury/health event--you will not find it here.

While there from March 25-27, 2026, for an infection in my right foot, I was scolded by a female Muslim doctor in front of 4-5 female medical students of some kind, a male "almost doctor" (still in the pipeline) and a very patient and professional, male EMT fella. The doctors in this hospital should be required to wear "bodycams" and if this Muslim female doctor had, she would have been fired that day. During my Army career and in every other instance requiring medical services, I have never encountered the general lack of organization and focus on priorities that are at best of little importance to the health and welfare of any American patient, as I did at / in Wake Med. They seem short-staffed and stressed. My mom went without having her teeth brushed for over 2 months causing extreme gum decease. She's gone nearly 2 months without a full shower. She gets urinary tract infections on a regular basis due to not being changed. She's in pain a lot of the time because they don't manage her medications well. This facility was very disappointing and I would not recommend to anyone who wants compassionate…read morecarr for their loved one. My mother was discharged to the facility from the hospital and I was hopeful that her rehabilitation time would include a safety and transparency about her care. The first red flag was that the aid instructed my mother to wear a Depend Undergarment because, "they may not get to you in time tonight". My mother has never wet herself, and indeed the aides warning was correct. My mother wet her self the next day waiting almost 30 minutes for help to the rest room. The second red flag was that the facility had most of the day to prepare for our arrival and make sure that my mother's medication would be available for her evening dose. She arrived at 4pm and did not receive her heart medication until 11:30pm. Third red flag was that I over heard a family member ask our nurse, "What medications did you give my mom this morning?" And our nurse responded with "What we've been giving her." No specifics and not indication of what time the meds were administered. My mother would call me when she was ringing the call button so I witnessed 15-20 minute waits for my mother to get help toileting. I took my mom to a routine primary care visit the day after admission as a follow up to her hospitalization. The facility gave me paperwork with mistakes on the orders, and again no indication of when the medications were given, or current vitals just a repeat of the hospital orders. I was told that my mother would have a care team meeting with physicians, therapists and other care team staff to discuss her care plan 2 days after her arrival. No PHYSICIAN EVER EVALUATED MY MOTHER or showed up to the meeting. I ended up removing my mother 2 days after her admission. My mother called to say that she was coughing and spitting and saw a pink tinge. This was about 1 hour after I left her to run an errand and after I notified the facility in that I was planning to transfer my mother home after the weekend so she would be more comfortable. My mother called for the nurse to show her what was happening and the nurse told my mother that it was simply Tumms. My mother proceeded to explain that she had only taken a Tumms in the morning and that the color of this was closer to pepto than calcium carbonate. Within 20 minutes of telling the nurse my mother felt light heading and started having sharp pains in her stomach. I immediately made my way to the facility which took about 15 minutes. In that time the nurse never responded to the call button. As I arrived the nurse claimed that she had given my mother a Tumms in the afternoon, but my mother was calling me on every Med pass and did not have any meds because they were testing for Covid-19. They stood and watched me pack my mom up as she was moaning in pain. I took her to the emergency department and my mother was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. God only knows how much pain she would have been in overnight or throughout the week as the staff had no intention of treating her medically.
