Outstanding vet and staff, couldn't be better! Highly recommended…read more I recently moved into the New Hope area and have been professionally involved with Animal Health for over 35 years. I've met thousands of vets, vet techs and visited many vet offices during my career. So, I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed that I have such a great vet hospital on my doorstep. I own an Irish Wolf Hound, Fergus, who suddenly developed an abscess above an upper maxillary carnaisial tooth. His face was badly swollen. I called NHVH and the call was taken by an excellent receptionist. They could see Fergus within 30 minutes - brilliant!. When I arrived there I was greeted by very pleasant and professional staff. Dr. Marcus spent some time with me and explained the options. They gave me a detailed quote for an op to be performed three days later and I left with antibiotics and pain killers for Fergus in the interim. Well done. On Friday they took Fergus at 8.00 a.m. and I returned and picked him up at 6.00 p.m., again they spent time explaining what had happened during the day (Dr. Marcus had called me personally at around 4.00 p.m. to give an update on progress) showing me the x-rays and photos. The equipment and staff are top notch. Does it cost money, sure does but then all animal care does. You get what you pay for in my experience. NHVH is superb - you can't go wrong taking your pets here.

Unfortunately we were not made aware of all the treatment options available. When my dog was diagnosed, we were told by Dr. JESSICA AUSTIN, that there were only 2 options for treatment. One was drainage ( I won't get into the details for people with a weak constitution) and the other was surgery. On the day of the surgery, my dogs bloodwork came back with concerning results. We were told that it was risky for an older dog who is slightly anemic to be sedated. This is when I learned about another option besides surgery. DR. Amanda Straining is the one you want to request when visiting NHVH. She is incredibly honest and explained that there was another option that did not require surgery and only costs a small fraction of what the surgery estimate was. Needless to say I was very upset that we were not told this by Dr. Jessica Austin. We were told that my dog needed surgery that could cost up to $4000.00. I can't speak to why we weren't told about this alternative option. All I can say is that it seems Dr. Austin is more motivated by $ rather than doing the right thing. It makes me concerned and upset that Dr. Austin was ok with putting a very old dog under anesthesia when an alternative treatment was available. Bottom line... Ask for Dr.Struening and run the other way if by chance you get Dr.Austin. This is the last place I ever thought I would review. I am a huge dog lover and we treat ours like family because that's what they are. When things like this happen, Ive learned to not be silent. I hope this review helps.

I never write reviews however my experience with Diane and Annie of Animal Alliance was so…read moreexceptional that it deserves acknowledgement. On Wednesday June 16, I submitted an application for adoption of a wonderful little dog, which I then supplemented with information in an email and phone call to their office. I read all of their online information so I understood there is a review and approval process, that they review phone calls once a day, and that there is also a process of going to the facility itself by appointment only and waiting outside until it is the appointed time due to Covid. I did not expect an immediate response. On Saturday June 19, Diane called me and I learned that the little dog that I was interested was already adopted. However Diane and I had a long discussion concerning the type of dog that I would be interested in. She shared that there were some new arrivals from the night before and would I consider coming in to see them at 3pm that afternoon. She shared that the Director - Annie, has a keen knack for matching rescues with individuals considering adoption. She then called me back to say that she spoke with Annie and that she was looking forward to meeting me. I arrived on time for my scheduled appointed and waited in my car until Annie came for me and she took me to the portico and said she would return with the first little rescue for me to consider. She brought me little Celia, she gave us time to acquaint ourselves, and it was a perfect fit. Celia chose me, she settled down on my lap, it was a wonderful experience. There was no need to see another prospective little dog, I adopted Celia. Working within rescue is very difficult, animals arrive from a wide range of backgrounds and needs, all of which is time consuming to process and care for as is working with those that may want to either board or adopt. Both Diane and Annie are very caring and competent professional women who care deeply for these animals and for those interested in them. Little Celia is doing just fine, she has settled down and is extremely happy. She is house-trained and has the most wonderful personality. I had no prior experience with either Diane or Annie, I highly recommend them to guide you in the process, and further suggest that if you are unable to board or adopt a rescue from them to please consider donating to Animal Alliance so that they can continue to save other animals in need.

Adoption events were always great to attend and everyone was always warm and welcoming and you can clearly tell the volunteers are there to help the dogs get adopted. The volunteers really made Animal Alliance a positive experience and are really the only reason I am giving the shelter 2 stars. They are truly trying to help the animals there get adopted. The owner Annie, however, is incredibly rude. I never had a good interaction with her. No one is allowed inside the shelter and she will yell at you to move away from the door if you get too close. One of the dogs I had fostered ended up needing medicine and when I brought him to the shelter she was rude and dismissive. The puppy did eventually get medicine he needed. From other volunteers, I have heard stories about Annie preventing dogs from getting adopted out and signs of abuse towards the dogs. Overall, if you ever go to Animal Alliance, I hope you never meet her. The shelter itself, while no one is allowed inside, smells AWFUL. Any time the door opens, there is a smell that comes out and it's disgusting. I would not be surprised if the conditions of the shelter are not very cleanly. The smell sticks to any person or dog they bring out. I once met a potential foster dog and it was brought outside for me to meet and the dog smelled like feces and I had to cover my nose. Both of the dogs I ended up fostering went straight into the bath when I got them because the smell was too strong.

I was impressed with their intake - we had a thorough conversation going through his checklist to get info about the cat to make sure her sitters/hosts would know specific details about the cat (how much I usually feed her, that she doesn't like being petted on the stomach, etc). At the end of the day it's just a cat and all I really cared about was making sure she had food and water and was safe, but this was so much better than boarding her in a tiny cage or having a pet sitter stop by for just a few minutes a day. Knowing she would have a decent amount of space and regular human contact gave me the peace of mind to go on vacation and just not worry or think about her.

Based upon the booking screening, it was clear that the company is professional, well-run, and focused. They provide transportation for your pet to and from their boarding stay and even provide daily pictures of your pet via text. We were very happy with the arrangements until, in the middle of our vacation, we were told that our dog had an episode of weakness and was rushed to our vet whose information we provided at booking. Andrew stayed with our pet and transported him to the overnight Emergency vet for observation. Everything turned out fine and Andrew picked up our pet to finish his stay. Andrew went out of his way and not only did everything for our pet that we could have done, but he also kept us informed and comforted. The integrity, compassion, and dedication that PetsAreInn demonstrated during our time of deep concern helped us greatly and made us happy we chose a stay with a family in their home versus in a traditional pet kennel. Andrew at PetsAreInn was our pet's guardian angel, and we will look forward to using his service without hesitation going forward.

She reported that when they went there for an unannounced investigation, everything was to code so at that point, there wasn't much more we could do. I'm just glad that they took it serious enough to look into. As I had mentioned in my original post, which you can read below, the owners will try to twist things and put the blame back on the dog's owners. From my post on Nextdoor (if you live in Buck County, you can look up my name on Nextdoor to see the post from 2 years ago and read through the many responses of people sharing their shocking experiences with Holiday House), I have since learned that lack of care - to say the least - is not atypical. People posted about wrong dogs being returned, dogs coming back traumatized, dogs being returned extremely ill, and even one poster sharing that their dog died in while being boarded there. If you care for your pet, do not use this place. It's been a couple of years since our horrible experience boarding our dog there, and to this day, we are all still scarred by it and the memory of what our dog looked like when we picked her up, the thousands of dollars we spent to get her heatlhy, and her health issues she suffered from because of their lack of care for her basic well being. Also, our credit card company even reimbursed us for the fees we paid to Holiday House - again based on photos, timeline and medical records from out vet. They agreed that Holiday House did not provide the care they promised us.
