Upon arriving, I waited at the front for a few minutes before anybody even acknowledged me, once we sat down we waited another 10 minutes to even get a menu. They don't have enough menus, so we had to wait for the table next to us to finish with the menu before the waiter handed us their menus. Once we chose what we wanted, we waited another 5-10 minutes before we had to flag a waiter to take our order. We also didn't get any water/drinks for about half an hour after sitting down. The restaurant smells like sweat...and they do NOT give free water at all. The room is TOO loud, there's loud music, loud bar sounds and just overall loud general noises. Also the hostess wearing black yelled at multiple waiters a few times in front of guests so that was weird... Anyways, on to the food..... Portions are TOO small, ridiculously overpriced. The food didn't come out at the same time, one of six of us nearly finished her food before the rest of us got anything. The table besides us, had 5, and only 2 received their food and finished it completely before the other 3 received their food. We ordered 2 of the same plate, and only one came. Unfortunately for me I was the odd one out waiting another 14 minutes for my plate. The only positive, the food was actually good. It wasn't amazing, but it was good, except one of my kafta's was raw. They also offered us tea in the end to compensate for the awful service, just for them to never give it. Overall, congrats to this restaurant! This takes the cake as the WORST restaurant I've ever been to. Dreadful service and ambiance. Please come here if you want to lose your mind.

I highly recommend trying this place. Especially if you're Muslim and only eat halal - it's like a…read moredream come true, you can't miss it. A special mocktail menu, delicious appetizers (I got the carpaccio, my girlfriend doesn't like salad and we destroyed it). Side bread was delicious. Great dinner menu, we got the lamb and ribeye steak. The lamb is to die for, the steak was immaculate, side sauce was incredible and unique. The mashed potato's that come with the lamb were unique as well, and some of the best mashed potato's we've ever had. The ambience and environment was amazing too, great decor, romantic and playful, but also artistic. Music was spot on and a good vibe. Service was professional, food was spaced out properly and patiently. The waiters were very kind and helped us order by recommending popular items and catered it to our preferences. Mohammad specifically was amazing, but all of the staff were great, you can tell they care about what they do and do it with passion. Huge shoutout to the chef here, it's one thing to make delicious food, another to make it unique like no other at the same time, all while catering the experience to a modern Muslim culture and capturing the excellence of French cuisine.

I came here just for the cordon bleu and it was absolutely delicious. I guess a traditional French cordon bleu wouldn't be very flavorful but this WAS, from the sauce to the garnishings and the cheese sauce on the inside. The potatoes it was served with were also extremely well seasoned. We also got a complimentary mint tea!

I figured it was time to write a review for my namesake restaurant, the one in the little blurb…read moreunder my name. It'll be a problematic review, since I haven't been here since around November of 2004. But let's try it and see how it goes. At the time, "Mac Doner" was an unusually dominating presence, compared to most of the other Turkish-style takeaway places in the city. For one thing, the 16th is a rich, heavily white area of Paris, with very little in the way of fast food. This was the only spot for a kebab or an adana kebab sandwich in that part of the neighborhood, and probably one of the few in the neighborhood altogether. It also had a striking blue neon sign, contrasting against the otherwise staid quality of this semi-residential street. (Eventually they added a new, more traditional exterior, as I saw when I walked by in 2007--unfortunately I didn't stop in and try it again.) And then there's the name itself, mildly punning, nearly copyright-infringing. It rolls off the tongue nicely. As for the food, I would have to admit that I'm adding an extra star for nostalgia. It was, it's true, one of the earliest kebabs I'd ever eaten, a food which is now a mild obsession. The white sauce was good, tart, fresh, with large bits of mint in it; that bread, the peculiarly French type of round pita, was soft and a little toasted; the fries were decent, just a bit soggy, as they always seem to be when you open the long clamshell package. But the meat never seemed stellar. There were too many fatty bits, too much turkey and not quite enough veal. This definitely wasn't a "kebab extra veau." Still, a kebab in the 16th, in that forest of dull luxury, is going to have the benefit of uniqueness, of a lack of competition. The surprise of its being there at all adds something to the flavor. I'd go back, I'd even go out of my way to have it again. I do hope that when they renovated they added some seating, since I remember there being absolutely nothing seven years ago. But either way, there is no arguing with Mac Doner. Either figuratively or literally, since--I'm told--the employees are still on the haughty side.
