For us, though, we had an amazing experience at Mahzen. It started with talking to one of the friendly servers there named Sermet, who invited us to eat but did so in a way that wasn't pushy or imposing on us. Maybe for this fact alone, we obliged him. He instantly gave us some recommendations of what types of fish and other dishes to order, and all his recommendations were spot on. We have a few cold mezeler to start, with the garlic yogurt being our favorite. Then we had some fried Bonito because, according to Sermet, September is the month for bonito. We rounded the meal off with Karides Guvec (a spicy shrimp and cheese casserole) and Kokorec (grilled sheep intestines.. for adventurous eaters only) and left with happy bellies. Our experience here at Mahzen was a hands down no brainer both because of the food and Sermet, and we'd hope others are able to enjoy similar experiences like we did.

Yelpers had raved about the Stewed Chicken with Almonds and Cream and they were NOT incorrect -- it is DELICIOUS! Finally had to stop eating because I was full -- but that sauce makes you want to just keep eating and eating! We also got the Meatballs Stuffed with Bulgur, and a Shepherd's Salad dressed with pomegranite juice. Service was friendly, and the ambience cozy. Hope you'll give it a try when visiting Istanbul!

I was full, but left feeling that the meal was overpriced. Of course it's so close to all the attractions, but so was the cafe I went to down the street last night and I felt like I got some legit Turkish food there for a great deal. The service here doesn't compel me to come back either...if you do find yourself at Medusa, it's not so bad. But it's not great either.

The waiter gave us excelle guidance and was especially helpful for pairing the choice of wine with a great steak. Obviously the wine is the main event, but the food was top notch! I lived many years in Madrid and it reminded me to our great wine places back home, all positive feedbacks from my recommendation to friends who were visiting the European side of the town. You climb down a few steeps stairs and then enter into a open cave like space that they have down a very good job of modernising into a wine and cheese cellar focused on highlighting local products. There is a wide selection of Turkish wines to choose from, so many that it can be quite overwhelming. We returned one evening and for 30 TL per person we enjoyed a wine tasting of three wines, with individual plates of cold Hor'deurves. Or, we could also have chosen one wine, with a food item of our choice. But, we couldn't turn down the good deal. We were lucky as the place was packed and were able to get three seats by the bar area. There are several tables, but you need to make reservations in advance to sit there. I wish there was a place like this back home that I could enjoy with friends on a Friday evening. You could tell this was a place locals liked to hang out and spend time. Who wouldn't!

And the prices change between 9 Turkish Lira to 25 Turkish Lira. So that means you do not have to open a bottle and stick to one type of wine- Get their special menu for Glass Wines and pick what you want, try some several different options-! That was what I exactly did- of course I prefered the cheaper ones and they honestly tasted all good ! So this place is PERFECT for a cheap but definitely quality WINE TASTING!
