Meat and cheese board

Solera is a wine bar located in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. It's a small, but not a quiet place that offers mostly indoor but also some outdoor seating. They offer wines from around Türkiye as well as some small dishes. My friend introduced me to Solera Winery in fall 2019 and it quickly became my favorite place to go for a drink. It's located in a young and hipster-ish neighborhood so there's always people walking around the neighborhood and usually waiting outside. The inside is small and only has a few tables. I'm not complaining, actually I think this makes the bar feel more close or even romantic, if you're on a date. In terms of drinks, there actually a pretty large menu of wine to pick from. I personally love the fruit wines so I've tried the nar, vişne, and karadut wines from both Trakya and Denizli. They're all lovely! However, my favorite of all is the sicak şarap. It's the perfect winter drink or drink on a cold evening. It's honestly the best sicak şarap that I've tried in Istanbul. For food, they offer small platers and even dinner dishes. I've only tried the charcuterie plate with meats and cheese, and it's pretty good.

Wine, eats, decor, friendly owners, and the cutest mascot ever! What more could you ask for?

Me thinks Turkish wine does NOT agree with me since both nights I had it, after just a glass, I'd see dark spots clouding my vision. Just super weird. That's not stopping me, however, from giving kudos to this wine spot. While the by the glass selection is not as expansive as Sensus Şarap next to Galata Tower, the intimate feel of this place is much more to my liking. We enjoyed our crepe dessert, which was surprisingly not at all the potential disaster we were anticipating. The cool part was the travel photography along the walls that I later overheard were taken by the owner himself. My traveler heart fluttered in the presence of a fellow wanderluster. The absolute coolest part of the wine bar was its mascot, the owner's adorably sweet mega fluff of a cat! If you didn't know, cats and dogs are well loved in Istanbul and unafraid of humans. I don't remember her name, but towards the end of the night, she wandered about as she pleased, cozying up to as many patrons' legs and extended hands for some princess attention. Just an all around memorable time despite my apparent allergy to their primary product!

A sweet gem in a street in Istanbul. Loads of local Turkisk wine. Both reds and whites. Small place with approx 15 small tables. Easy to get to, but a bit easy to walk by the first time. We told what sorts of wines we like to drink and got a nice redwine. Suites our taste buds perfectly. Had some cheese as well. Nomnom. Actually came back the day after with our friends and had a lovely time. I highly recommend this place is you are a winelover as me. Loads to choose from and the owner (I think it was him) knows his way around wines. Open til 2 am. Go go!:)

We stoped in here on a whim. We had the wine tasting and cheeseboard. Both were great. The staff was very helpful.

Another fantastic find on a small side street located near the Galata tower. We found this place…read morefirst during the day by accident. You climb down a few steeps stairs and then enter into a open cave like space that they have down a very good job of modernising into a wine and cheese cellar focused on highlighting local products. There is a wide selection of Turkish wines to choose from, so many that it can be quite overwhelming. We returned one evening and for 30 TL per person we enjoyed a wine tasting of three wines, with individual plates of cold Hor'deurves. Or, we could also have chosen one wine, with a food item of our choice. But, we couldn't turn down the good deal. We were lucky as the place was packed and were able to get three seats by the bar area. There are several tables, but you need to make reservations in advance to sit there. I wish there was a place like this back home that I could enjoy with friends on a Friday evening. You could tell this was a place locals liked to hang out and spend time. Who wouldn't!

Its a great place for the evening to taste some wine ( especially the turkish products are…read moresuprisingly good! ) but sometimes you need a reservation, but you will probably find place on the bar. The prices are fair. Normally in the restaurants if you order just one glass of wine they dont have many options and they charge you pretty much for a tiny glass of wine ( they usally fill the glass just a little ! I HATE THAT! ) BUT this Wine House, as they sell their own products, offer you about 15 different wines that you can order just as a glass . And the prices change between 9 Turkish Lira to 25 Turkish Lira. So that means you do not have to open a bottle and stick to one type of wine- Get their special menu for Glass Wines and pick what you want, try some several different options-! That was what I exactly did- of course I prefered the cheaper ones and they honestly tasted all good ! So this place is PERFECT for a cheap but definitely quality WINE TASTING!
