Several of…read moreour old standbys were closed for the weekend so after a bit of digging we came across Berry Hill Farm. So cute! It's right on the border of Dexter/Chelsea and is just big enough to make picking SUPER easy but not so big that you need to spend a ton of time here. I think we were in and out in about 30-40 minutes at most, and we filled a whole flat with delicious berries. They're only open during picking season so check their facebook page for daily updates on picking quality and hours. When you arrive, check in with the owners and they'll give you a box with containers and an empty milk jug to tie around your waist for easy two handed picking. Then dig in! There are several rows of different berry varieties, including red raspberries, black raspberries, and golden raspberries. You'll know they're ripe when they're a deep color and pull right off the bush. The bushes, especially blackberries, are a bit spiky so be careful! I didn't bring gloves because I find them a bit cumbersome so I did get poked a couple of times but nothing major. When you're done, head back to the garage with your tray and they'll tally up your berries. Currently it's $2.50 per pint. Cash or check only. Brought home the berries and they were SO good. They really lasted a long time too. It's been over a week and I've still be throwing them in my yogurt every morning. Baked up beautifully in some breakfast bars too. Excited to have discovered this place and I'm definitely looking forward to visiting year after year.

They have canned/jarred goodies inside along with fresh pies and apple fritters! If you walk to the back area you can watch the donuts fall off the conveyor belt and into the cinnamon "tumbler" then they are bagged up! Tons of spaced out seating outside. Theres a huge open area for kids to play, theres a bin of different balls provided for kids. And theres cornhole for adults.

In the fall they have a lot of offerings on Saturdays and Sundays. You can take a hayride to pick your own pumpkin, and unlike some school field trips where my kids selected a pumpkin from ones "lain about" in a field, this was the real deal with vines attached and small to xxl to choose from. The hayride has stairs in the farm and the field, which is nice for older folks. They offer another one that goes through the woods, too. There was a corn maze that wasn't extraordinarily difficult, but was just right and fun to explore. There were some goats, a sheep, a turkey, and chickens to feed, and the kids loved a free covered hay pile play park with a tunnel and wood play structure. That got out some energy! I saw another tent where it looked like you could paint your pumpkin, but we didn't go in there. There was a cute photo spot with a bench, and I even picked up some homegrown produce that looked good and was really affordable. See pic for prices w activities. I thought this whole place was pretty affordable... At some of those farms the prices are crazy. Everyone who worked here was really nice and helpful, too! Our…read morerelationship with them started by purchasing their veggies at the Farmer's Market every Thursday; eventually, I would make a beeline for their stand each visit. Wade was always really helpful and personable. One Thursday, we started talking about their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, and he showed me their full and half share boxes. I was immediately jealous of all those families receiving their plentiful boxes each week, and I basically begged myself into the program for a half share box starting in the middle of the summer. I was completely late, and they were full, but somehow, Wade's wife Shannon felt convinced by my plea that I needed their half share box, and they let us in. And I am so glad they did! From August through September it felt like Christmas every week. On Thursdays I would pick up my box, and it was packed full of all of the veggies I love to eat. (My husband said I was like a small child at Christmas on Thursdays when I would bring the box home and take everything out immediately and revel in what I would be cooking for the next few days). The difference between this farm and many other farms is that they focus on the staples: zucchini, squash, tomatoes (many varieties), cucumbers, melon, corn, cabbage, broccoli, beets, peppers, eggplant... towards the end of the season we also got brussel sprouts, garlic, potatoes, and some herbs. This was the perfect box for us because I did not want a lot of salad greens -- I am not a huge salad eater. And I've always been a bit wary of CSA boxes for fear of getting a giant box of arugula and romaine that will go bad in my fridge. But after a season with Pregitzer, I am completely hooked on the CSA program and on their box! The half share box is really affordable, in my opinion -- $220 for the season, which works out to roughly $13 a week. For fresh, local produce -- you can't beat that. And they extended out their CSA program from what it said on their website, and I thought that was a total bonus. Half share is the perfect amount for two people. Pregitzer also hosted a number of activity days on their farm on the weekends. I never got a chance to go, but hopefully will next year. They are also open for business on their farm on the weekends and sell their produce then. Additionally, they offer egg shares (a carton a week for the duration of the CSA) for $30 and they also offer whole chickens for sale in November and December to their CSA people. If you are interested in doing a CSA box, fall and early winter is the time to do the research, pick your farm and get on their wait list. Be sure to look on their websites and see what they grow, ask what kind of veggies you will get throughout the year, and be sure it meshes with the kind of food you like to eat. Ask one of their CSA'ers about their program too, if possible.

Really thankful for such a treasure in the city of Northville. My favorite aspect is the friendly and welcoming community of people both patrons and vendors. The feel here is fun and it brings back warm memories with this small town atmosphere. They were doing a small artisan-type festival and we bought some children's books which look cute. They have a whole store you can go into or if you just want donuts and cider, you can do the grab and go area instead. If you want to go to their play area with slides etc it's $5, that also gets you admission into the u-pick area and then on top of that you pay for what you pick. We bought an apple pie, some fudge, donuts (cinnamon and plain, they also have pumpkin and gluten-free and some cherry one today), cider, and cider slushees for the car ride home. I had a slight problem - the straw poked through the cup and slushee went EVERYWHERE, so I'd recommend they maybe get thicker cups or not as pokey straws. They do have regular bathrooms here (as well as a port-a-potties) but they were a little messy. Overall I'd come back here though, they had a lot of tasty-looking treats and a cute venue.

This is due to their being a long driveway that meanders back to the beautiful grounds and barn. Staff is always super friendly, if occasionally under-staffed (one person working everything!) so just be patient :)

Liberty and the main street there in South Lyon. They did have some interesting vendors. There's a candle place my friend likes - they use cut-off alcohol bottles for the candle base - and we stopped at another stand that sells all sorts of sprays, like relaxation ones and even hand sanitizer. There was another stand that had candied almonds for $7 which looked tempting. If you're hungry, there's also a hot dog stand on-site and a shaved ice stand. My friend ordered a shaved ice ($4, I think) and you can choose what flavorings you want (it's self-serve, which is the first time I've seen something like that - pretty cool). I'd come here again to check it out, IMO it's not one I would need to go to weekly if I lived in the area but some of the stands/tents had some cool items. There's also some fresh produce for sale too but it's more of an artisan market vs. a farmers market, IMO.
