My mother just got done staying here for two weeks after a knee infection in a old knee replacement she is 79 years old was at Kaiser for a week prior with serious issues from the infection and medication affecting her mental state . Most of the staff was excellent and overall I was happy with her care . The food however could be better for the most part I had to bring her food everyday she wasn't eating much . I think it's one of the best of these facilities in the area . read more

1628 B St Hayward, CA 94541 I came to visit a friend here. I was impressed by the level of care and the facility is well staffed. They acknowledge you as soon as you walk in. The front desk was staffed by 3 people. Covid-19 screening was in effect, and masks were required. Lots of cleaning was going on. My friend said he was being treated well, but didn't like the food. I was told he was on a strict diet, and I shouldn't bring in outside foods. Oh well, no burgers and fries. The facility was a bit noisy with all the activity in the hallway. Sadly, our dad transitioned to hospice care here on the 12th day of his stay. He needed periodic, routine check-ins to ensure his comfort, especially as he quickly became more ill and less responsive. While we really liked everyone here and they're very nice (special kudos to CNAs Paola, Stephanie & Tin, wound care nurse Samir, and Michael in the kitchen) , twice several important well-checks relating to IV fluids were missed that resulted in severe fluid retention and unnecessary pain for my dad. Also, he was about to be weighed the day before he passed and I'm so glad I was there to stop the procedure. In hindsight I wish that his PT and OT sessions could have been assessed and adjusted to meet his condition, especially as his nutritional intake continued to decline, rather than expecting him to perform activities at the level that are perhaps typical for many patients in rehabilitation; I suppose it's challenging for all dimensions of care to get the whole, changing picture when it's downward as opposed to upward. It's with a sad heart that I've had to update this review, really wanting to say that the entire experience was great. Hopefully this is a learning lesson for all. read more

I went there for rehab, they did not tell Kaiser that they had Covid in the facility. The next day I came down with Covid . I then got double pneumonia and sepsis. When I left there the owner said Covid is just like the flu. I wish she had it as I did. I am 77 years old and have asthma, it was not like the flu, when I left for the hospital and I had to call the ambulance. There were seven patients with Covid and several staff members. read more

My Mom was admitted to Hayward Gardens Post Acute back in Dec of last year after two very bad falls. At the time, I was in LA filming a TV show and could not make it back home for the Holidays so I was not in touch as much as I had previously been. I went up to visit my Mom in Jan of 2023 and literally was aghast as to what I discoverd - my Mom was in very bad shape and diagnosed with acute encephalopathy - barely able to stand and yet alone speak. I was heartbroken and asked to speak to the staff director, Maria R. Maria was VERY WELCOMING and sat me down to explain my Mom's diagnosis and medical condition. She also introduced me to the staff admins and doctors, speech pathologists, CNA's and nurses personally. Whenever I had questions as to what was going on and how I could be of service, Maria R. always set time aside to addressany issues I was facing concering my mom's health, insurance, care, procedures and billing. She also took the time to take my calls and even set up staff meetings with myself and accounting to see how we could get my Mom's insurance to handle all of the bills. Never have I felt so assured, restful and accomdated by such a wonderful staff such as this! Below is a list of the caregivers who tended to my Mom: The Charge Nurses: Breana G. The staff taught me how to change her briefs, do PT exercises with her, dietary needs and even helped with getting her assistance with Home Health. Each and every one of them is highly skilled and tended to my Mom needs for many months - so much so that she has made a pretty decent recovery and can now do sometasks on her own. She still has a long road ahead but she is recuperating wonderfully and can speak, think coherently and do many motor tasks now that she could not do over the last few months. "I was there for over 2 weeks, the employees were very nice to me, meals were very good, therapists were good at their job and helpful " V.H As someone who was a visitor there it was clean, bright, and airy and did not have a bad smell (as some care places do). After my brother was discharged from Eden Hospital, he was admitted to Hayward Gardens Rehabilitation Center. There, he shared a room with a patient who had pneumonia, which deeply concerned us. The patient himself informed us of his condition; we worried about my brother, who was suffering from heart failure, and we were especially anxious about the risk of him falling ill again. We immediately approached the front desk nurse to request a room change to protect his health, but we were told that no other rooms were available. And also, the nurse told us that the patient didn't suffer from pneumonia. He was making it up. Unfortunately, a week later, my brother developed pneumonia and had to be transferred back to Eden Hospital. Despite medical efforts, my brother passed away a week later from severe pneumonia. This experience has profoundly shaken my faith in Hayward Gardens. No patient should have to endure such a situation, and it is heartbreaking to think that inadequate care and a lack of preventive measures could lead to such a devastating outcome. I strongly urge the manager of this place to reflect on these concerns and take immediate action to ensure that future patients do not face similar risks. read more

Our family is incredibly grateful for the care our father/husband received at hayward garden. From the moment he arrived, every staff member treated him with kindness, respect, and professionalism. Each nurse, physical/occupational therapist, and caregiver went above and beyond to ensure his comfort and well-being, and we could tell that they truly cared about their patients. The facility itself was the perfect size--not too big, so it felt personal, but large enough to have excellent resources and support. My 93 year old father stayed at Hayward Gardens for a few weeks in February of this year. I was so impressed with how friendly, earnest, caring, and helpful the staff was during his stay. They were so impressive. The receptionist, Jane, was so engaging and efficient, there was CNA Bernardo, and Michelle at PT, and everyone else on staff was great. They were painting the whole facility and so it looked good too. My Dad had a complicated situation but the staff there was patient and kind to him. My mother was admitted recently and spent 2 weeks at Hayward Gardens. The location is nestled near a woody area and thus you will see many wild Turkeys which was the highlight of every day for my mom. The kitchen prepared food every day that was very good. The Nurses, CNA's, PT's, OT's and supporting staff were very friendly and always open to any issues that arise. My mom would not have had quick recovery that she had were she not at Hayward Gardens. Our family member was admitted for a brief time at Hayward Gardens before sadly passing away. This was a very sad and stressful time for my sister and myself as well as friends and family. The level of compassion shown to us each and everyday by all CNA's Nurses, social workers, charge Nurses and of course hospice was so unbelievably kind. I cannot stress enough how grateful myself and family are to each and everyone of you for helping us cope through a devastating time. You took your time each and every day listening to our needs. My name is Brad. my story begins with a 15 mile walk down east Castro valley Boulevard. I hit the button to cross the side walk. The walk sign lit up and I looked both ways. when it was safe I began to cross. A car went through the red light and ran me down. I remember being struck by the car. I remember being on the hood. I remember flying out into the intersection and then suddenly all when black. my leg was broken in three places and my pelvic bone was fractured. After a trip to the trauma center for surgery and being transferred from one hospital to the next i ended up in a care facility named hayward gardens Where I would spen the next two months recovering. This accident put an end to my daily walks and everything else for that matter. I was stuck in a hospital bed all day everyday. I was in such pain when I moved my leg. I cried out in pain so loud it caused those near me to jump back unsure what to think. I didn't want to move my leg at all for fear of the agony that would follow . My spirits where down. It was during this time that I met Christa, Cathy and Sangeeta. Three ladys that would change my life. Every day the three of them would stop by my room always pleasant , professional and kind. They would offer physical therapy At whatever time was convenient . At the time moving my leg was the last thing I wanted to do. I passed on therapy a few times. Every day they came back. The first few sessions were really painful. iI didn't want to continue . This team of physical and occupational therapists were phenomenal.! They had a variety of exercises to choose from. Each one working muscles that were an essential Part of my recovery. This team is incredible. They were so knowledgeable. They knew just which exercise would best suit each facet of my Injury . At times the pain was so bad I would wan to give up. Cathy was always there with a smile encouraging me . There were days that my leg hurt so bad I could never finish the exercise Christa was there cheering me on. There were times that I had my head down using the walker that I had my head down holding my breath to keep from crying out loud. Sangeeta was there reminding me to breath and that we were making great progress. This has been the worst injury I have ever experienced. This type of injury requires the leg to be exercised daily from the day after surgery. If not the injury can heal in such a way that the person will never walk the same again. I didn't want to go to therapy. My leg hurt so bad I didn't even want to try therapy. if it were not for Christa, SanGeeta, and Cathy I would not have recovered from my injury. i would have played around and done nothing and my leg would never have been the same. I returned recently to this facility, covered this building for more than 5 years then Covid hit and as with everyone priorities change, however I had the opportunity to return last year, under a new owner and management, the new team and floor staff improve, sure things can get better and some days things do under, however it was definitely the right choice to return, work load is same I work hard and enjoy the reward whether it's from the residents or their families. New things cycled in more fun group activity inside and outside work hours, I think for new comers or somebody that's looking for a new place, work or for resident related definitely don't overlooked on this facility. read more
