The course is beautiful, with a manageable front and long back 9 (6500 yrs) from the middle tees. The course is open and even high handicap golfers will not lose many balls; there are really only a few spots on the course that are truly out of bounds. The staff is typically very friendly, Jeremy who manages the bag room is particularly nice. The pros are all great too. The whole place is well maintained, as they do host PGA (junior/womens) events from time to time. The greens play very fast towards the end of summer, and some of them slope in ways that will really frustrate anyone. Price-wise, the place is on the upper end if you have no college affiliation (about 140 or so) but is exceptionally cheap for students (35 dollars) so definitely a place to visit if you are in the area and still in school. The course truly cannot be recommended enough, and it offers some exceptional views of both the Williams College campus and the surrounding areas.

Then we checked in, two bored young ladies had nothing to offer. Come to find out they should have told us about paying for range balls there. Then onto the course, just a 10 minute interval between groups on a very difficult course meant three or four groups on every hole. The friendly rangers were useless except for telling the all-female groups to keep up. For $135 a round, we deserved better but it was so slow we quit after the 12th hole. Never going back. Had a much better experience at Stratton the next day.

Hole number two features a very scenic par 3 hole. I'm already digging these rental Nike irons and driver. Too bad Nike is getting out of the game... Mist on the pond at hole number two. The greens are mostly sloping with rough pin placement throughout the course. A fun elevated green on a par three hole. We take our golf carts through "The Sherwood Forest". Only on the East Coast... They have interesting insects (albino caterpillar?) in the caterpillar family here. Wow! This course is $79.00 per person on a Saturday and worth every penny. Of course I come from one of the most expensive states in the country. Uncle Pete "going deep" for a .10 cent range ball. Apparently retirement was entered into a bit prematurely for my beloved uncle. A zoomed in view of the ski runs at Mt. Snow. "Dog leg right". I mishit my 3-wood and sent a towering drive that cleared the pond but not by a lot. Well, at least the 2nd baseman didn't track down my ball on an "infield fly rule".

Easy going and sent us out early just because he could. The course is challenging. 1st time awareness will lead to 2nd time mastery (I hope). I live in the south now and forgot how much work it is to golf in the mountains. I'm using that as an excuse for how many balls I lost, and not an indicator of how poorly I played at all. Just kidding. I suck. We all had fun though, and although the scores may not reflect it, we had a great day together and the weather was amazing and we made many memories to be shared for years.

The course is a bit hilly towards the end of the nine. If you have the opportunity to play there, you will not be disappointed.

Biggest complaint is that most greens had been aerated and had customary sand throughout. But due to greens not being rolled there were small tufts of grass patches on a number of them. This made putting them quite unpleasant. I'd certainly play here again when greens are in better shape. A discount should have been offered for the shape they were in today.

The balls are located in the trailer/snack shack near the range, but each time we go, we head inside to the office. I don't believe they staff the trailer. Next to the lodge is a small driving range. The tee areas are a bit old, so you'll have to drive from the grass. Not really a big deal. They provide an ample amount of wooden tees. They have clubs you can use, but most are rather old. We always bring our own clubs. The range is marked off by yards and the grass is cut regularly. There's a very nice view of the hills surrounding the course. It's most likely an even better view come fall. Behind the range, they have a small putt-putt course that looks to be entertaining for little kids. This is fairly no frills driving range. But where else in Southern VT can you get a rather large bucket of balls for $5? Or anywhere else for that matter?

My daughter graduated from Keene State College over 15 years ago. I made many trips back and forth…read morewhile she was in school. Strange I never knew this course existed until a friend invited me to play both North and South courses on one day. Overall it was fun. I played the South course much better than the slightly more difficult North. I'll blame it on being tired. It was a long day made needlessly longer. Both courses are in pretty good shape. The greens had quite a bit of undulation to them, but they ran true. Fairways were also in decent shape. It was a nice day of golf, but made long by poor course scheduling management. We prebooked our 3 tee slots, there were 12 of us. The morning round went off without a hitch. We were scheduled to go off the second round on the North course between 1 and 1:30, about an hour or so after the 1st round. When we completed the morning South course round, the pro informed us there would be a little delay as they had a scramble tournament in progress on the North and they were running slow. Nearly 2 hours later, and little communication, we were still waiting. I'm sure they run many scramble tournaments do it amazes me that thry misjudged completion so badly. We finally did tee off and got the round in as dusk was approaching. I then had an hour and a half ride home to a pissed off wife and disappointed grandson
