My partner and I purchased an investment property in Cathedral City in November 2014, planning on moving to California when we retire in the near future. We decided to rent our property until we were ready to make the next step. Since we are from the east coast and it would be difficult to manage the property, we decided to hire a property management company. We interviewed several management companies to see who would work out best. Our realtor recommended Hayes Realty and we set up an appointment with them. We also set up meeting with other local property managers for interviews. We met Josh (Hayes Realty) during our vendor interviews when we came back to Palm Springs after the closing on the property. Since I am a professional property/facility manager in NYC, as well as, a owner of other properties that I manage locally, Josh answered all my questions like I would have answered them with my own properties. He fully understood what I needed and pulled through with every promise he gave me. During the tenant screening process, he was amazing. He weeded out anyone who was questionable and not desirable and found the perfect tenant for us. He has been in the business for quite some time and is very experience picking the best tenant. Hayes is also very knowledgeable about the local area and has great connections including service vendors and tradesmen. He saved us a lot of money using his vendors for the initial repairs we had to do to get the house ready to rent. Hayes also uses a very good on-line billing system that is easy to use and is very accurate at any time during the month. Their management costs are low (7%) and they give you very good service. We leased with Hayes (Josh and Mai) for five years in La Quinta. Truly the easiest leasing experience ever. My air conditioner once malfunctioned at 1030 at night and they responded to my phone call and had a professional out to repair it that night. It was rare that I would have to request assistance with anything however when I did they provided professional help quickly every time. I would have likely purchased a home several years ago however the experience with Hayes and the home was so perfect that we didn't want to leave. Hayes Reality has been managing my property in Palm Springs for a little over a year now. I could not be more thrilled with the service I get from these guys. Within about a week of signing up with Hayes they found a quality tenant and signed him on for a year lease. They handled the move in process 100%. Throughout the year they handled miscellaneous repairs and maintenance quickly, efficiently and at extremely reasonable price quotes. It seems they have well established relationships with honest professional services (plumbers, painters, maintenance etc. ) I have used the larger property management companies in the Palm Springs area (i won't mention names) but find hey either don't address issues or simply relay the problem to me to deal with. Hayes Reality is responsive, proactive and actually HANDLES situations when they arise. An example: When the stove needed repair I got a call describing the problem. They gave different options for repair (depending on how much money I wanted to spend), estimates, pictures and recommendations. My tenant was happy because Hayes immediately acknowledged the problem and I was happy because the problem was basically solved by the time I got the call. The next day they come to the house to see what the issue was.. before i could even get out of my truck they come up to the truck yelling saying I've wasted a month of thier commission and i aint getting S**t back,so i calmed him down and went inside the house to show him the issues.Of course he couldn't control his anger,he was getting so upset with me and just starred going off!!!!! finally he threatened me with "remember i have personal information","you don't hold the cards here spic"! they then stormed out of the house and begin this huge email war!!! there has been over 100 emails back and forth,for the last 8 days and still no solution!! I HAVE BONE MARROW CANCER ( MYELODYSPLASTIC SYNDROME) WICH MEANS THAT I HAVE NO WHITE BLOOD CELLS,THE SMALLEST MICROBE OR GERM COULD GET ME SICK AND KILL ME!! I spoke with Josh Hayes on the morning of July 10th 2020 inquiring about a rental property in La Quinta. His snappy and rude comments were off-putting and extremely unprofessional. He made me feel like I was irritating him with my inquiry. I asked if he had other properties in the area since the one I was interested in was no longer available and his response was, "I'm sure we might have something else." I paused waiting for him to give me the information as to where I could look and or ask me questions regarding the specifics about what I was looking for, but NO! I got nothing! So as not to be rude like him, I asked where should I look for other properties. He answered just as snappy as before rambling off the website adding nothing else after that. I decided I had, had enough of the rudeness and I quickly ended the call, after which I thought to myself, how rude. Whatever mood he was in before he answered my call, he should have "checked" It on the other end of the call before answering. It's no excuse for that type of behavior. We have found them to provide more bang for the buck when it comes to property management. Not going to change my mind on this one. It's amazing how exactly 5 minutes after my original post on Yelp I received an email from him. No, the reason I was upset was NOT because the price of the house was too much for me. I felt the house was OLD and was overpriced, which is why I asked if he'd speak to the owner. Had he been a decent real estate agent, he could have answered the question without being rude. I have called his "office" on more than one occasion, and sent emails. He can claim to answer immediately and answer all calls... but the frustration or calling and getting NO ANSWER when you're looking for a place is ridiculous, especially when a lot of the properties seem to be his listings, which I cannot understand why. Maybe there are no other agents around. I don't know. Still, he claims he shows houses til 6 pm BY APPT., but that's the thing, isn't it? You can't get an appt. if he doesn't answer the phone and make one for us. Weekends are when people would like to see properties. If you stop answering the phone as early as Friday morning at 11 am, then there goes the whole weekend. I'm sure he's not a bad person, just that I would not use his services to buy, rent, or sell a house. read more

I use Hayes Realty for a rental property and I believe they do an amazing job. I searched out several property management companies before I chose them. I chose them because I felt very comfortable with them and they also have an amazing rate. They charge 7% and they do as good of a job and if not better than my friend's management company that charges 15%. They seem to always be available for any questions that I have and I always do have questions. Trust me... Another thing I really like about Hayes Realty is how fast they got a tenant for my property. I had my house listed for approximately 3 weeks and in that time they showed the property to numerous potential tenants. When they actually found someone, they performed a thorough background on the tenant.
