Nothing worse than getting ready for bed, to find all the drains in the house are backing up. Time to call around... I first called one of the well-known plumbers you hear on the radio, and was surprised to learn there was a $99 +$265 emergency call out charge (a total of $364 before any repairs are even made!), and a 2-hour response tj. I came here to Yelp, and found Mike with Ace's Plumbing... most 5-Star reviews in the area. I called just before 9PM and Mike answered, said he'd be right over (though he was getting ready for bead as well when I called!). He was at my house within 15 minutes, diagnosed the issue within 5 minutes, and was soon running a snake down the main line! Was a total of 30 minutes and the job was done! So glad we searched Yelp and found Ace's! In the end, it cost us LESS THAN HALF of what the other guy wanted just to show up (not to mention a 2-hour response time). I called Ace's Rooter for a clogged drain in my basement floor. Mike was fast to respond and…read moreactually came 30 minutes earlier than stated. The clogged drain was backing up in my basement about 3 feet diameter. It was a 15-20 foot line that ran toward the main line. The water went down the next day when Mike arrived. Mike said if he has to clean out the main line that would be 575, but he would clean out the small line for free. Mike put the camera down the small line which had a handful of small fingerlie type branches in there which shouldn't be. Mike said the pipe was bad and really needed to be replaced. He checked the mainline while I was upstairs turning on water for him. When i came back down stairs he said he already ran the camera down the main line and it was fine. I asked him to show me with his camera because I had just bought the house a few years ago and the house inspector showed me where there were a few branches at the end of the line that would need to be cleaned out eventually. Mike ran the camera again and there was sitting water at the end. He said he could clean out the lines but that would be 575+220 after he just told me he would do the small line for free. I then asked him for a rough estimate on replacing the small line. He got on the phone with his concrete buddy and was whispering in the corner on the phone. Comes back and gives me a quote of 9700.00. I ended up only having him clear out the small line and he ended up charging me 575.00. This guy does a bait and switch on his pricing, so I would get everything in writing on how much it costs before he does any work. I won't be using him again. He gets a 3 for his quick response and that's all. His pricing a 1. His integrity a 0.

Once he "thought" he knew what was wrong, we agreed to the $250 diagnostic charge to investigate further and "find" the real problem. At first it was a faulty switch, then it was a leak, then we needed 10lbs of refrigerant...everytime he went out and came back in, there was something else wrong. Charlie was pressuring us into buying a new unit...we said no, just do what you need to get it working today. The repairs would cost about $4000. I felt like he was more of a salesman than a repair man. We told him not to do any repairs and leave. We then called a small locally owned company to ask for a second opinion. There was no leak, it did not need refrigerant, and was a quick and easy fix. The inside was full of grass clippings, causing the unit to shut-down as a safety feature. All it needed was to be cleaned, and it did not cost anywhere near $4000.

Paid $240 Upfront and the Job Is Still Not Finished…read more I hired Razo's Plumbing to replace an outside faucet while new siding was being installed on my house. The plumber came out and explained that he could not install the new faucet at that time because of the siding work. He removed the old faucet and told me he would come back to install the replacement. I paid $240 upfront for the job. Once I had the new 1/2-inch MIP faucet ready, I contacted him and sent him a picture. He told me, "I can stop by this Friday." Friday came and he did not show up. Since then, I have repeatedly texted asking when he is coming back. My messages have gone unanswered. It has now been two weeks, the job I paid for is still unfinished, and I am left trying to chase down the plumber just to get a response. I understand that schedules change. What I do not understand is taking full payment upfront, promising to return, not showing up, and then ignoring repeated messages from a customer. I have screenshots of the communication showing the promised return date and my multiple attempts to follow up. At this point, I simply want the job I paid $240 for completed or my money refunded. First and foremost i do want to say they are responsive. They gave me a bid and information without…read moreseeing my bathroom. They were able to get me on their schedule fairly quickly. Because they did not come see or even ask for pictures of what needed to be replaced when they got over to my home. They left and spent an hour getting parts. Waste of my time. When the kid came back he flooded my basement and garage while replacing the pipes he wanted to and while I understand that stuff happens not telling me about it and leaving me to find it after he left is a little nice. However when I walked into my bathroom it looked like he left a train wreck all over and in my tub. Now my tub drain is slower than normal to drain. Had him work on an outside faucet too and he spread all the power tools with water. For the amount that they charged I would have expected better clean up and communication, but no way. Once he decided he needed to go he left in a hurry no let me show you what I did or do you have any questions. I had to pull information out of him. I had another faucet that needed work done but he said he had to leave and couldn't do it. I get that we all have busy lives and I would have understood had I not mentioned everything I needed to start with. Save your money and go somewhere else. It's not worth getting your house dirtier than it was to start with and flooded without your knowledge. I tend to let workers in my home do their jobs and not bother them much so I guess that I should have kept a closer eye on what he was doing so I would have known about the flood sooner than later.
