Another place to add to my Yelp Yummies... So I needed to find a place that catered to Hibachi. Found this gem that was great for a celebration birthday dinner. The place was clean and relaxing. You have comfortable seating well you wait or a nice bar that's tucked off to your left... I decide to bar it and wait for our parties hibachi table. After enjoying a nice cold beer at the bar, before I could finish...our table was ready.. Customer service was great. Our cook, even better. 30 min wait, but it is packed, like all the cooks are probably taken. Which is fine because I don't mind eating somewhere else lol but our party of 7 wants to eat here so we are indeed waiting. The ambiance is basic and it's similar to Benihana and I'm sure everything's going to be cool but so far so good. Ok so it was an hour wait for everything really and we still haven't gotten seen by the chef yet! They really have us waiting and it's loud in here lol but hey we wanna eat here so we will wait and just chat... Ok so the WAIT WAS WORTH IT!!! The food was a 5/5 and it only took about 10 mins to make it but he prepared the food and that's what took so long! Also without all the sauces and seasonings I don't think it would had been good! Turned away!!! I have been to many Japanese steakhouses by myself. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. I thought it was going to be a good option seeing that I just had wrist surgery and I can't cut up my own food. I was very disappointed to be denied service. They said I cannot sit at the grill as a party of one. I've never been turned away before from any Japanese steakhouse Very disappointed. Well, I did something different this time. I was in the mood for the Americanized Asian, so Hayashi came to mind. Since it was just my wife and I, we decided to forego the show and dine in their small dining room hoping to save a little money. I was a little surprised that the menu was the same teppanyaki menu as the one in the main dining room where they cook in front of you. Also, the prices were the same. Really the only difference was that the food was cooked in the kitchen and you don't tip twice (once on the check and once to the teppanyaki chef). Also, it was quicker to eat in the small dining area, where you don't have to wait for the show to start. The food was still the same familiar Hayashi teppanyaki food we were accustomed to, but I did feel that the dish was really heavy on the rice and light on the beef and scallops. Also, I did pay extra for the filet and asked for it medium-rare. Unfortunately it came out well done and dry. The scallops were pretty good. I did enjoy the miso soup and salad. The main dish was pretty good and our server was good. All-in-all not too bad, but I am not sure if it was worth the money. I think we would have been better of in the main dining area where the food would have been more freshly prepared and the steak cooked more to my liking. We chose this place for the happy hour. I was celebrating my daughter's 18th birthday. We asked for the happy hour menu and I was give a laminated page. I confirmed with our server that these were the happy hour items. Food comes out and while the rolls were pretty tasty and good portions the gyoza was bland and the calamari tempura was very chewy. Whatever you win some you lose some. All the adults at the table are servers or bartenders so we get it. When I asked for the check the only thing that was happy hour was the gyoza. $168 for 4 adults and 2 kids. Made a stop in the restroom on the way out and was in desperate need of some attention. This was done to 2 other separate parties as well. Upon bringing this up to server to correct the error was then treated with retaliatory attitude. Snatching the card up and rushing as If I had ruined her day. When I asked to speak to manager to bring up the issue in a calm manner was snapped at that she was the manager and she was very agressive in nature. No point in arguing further. Go for happy hour, they have a really good happy hour menu. Lots to choose from. Super fresh, really good. Their Yaki soba noodles also tasty. If you want a good show, do the hibachi dinner, the chefs are entertaining, the food is very good. Dinner is pricey so know that you're gonna put out some money. But if it's a special occasion, it's worth it. The service has always been good, the place could use a little updating though. All in all definitely worth a visit. read more

I've been to Hayashi twice now with family. The first time was definitely better than it was today but it was still enjoyable. I wouldn't say Hayashi is a place to go out of your way for but if you happen to be in the area it's a decent place to stop into for a good meal. The pros: -The food is always tasty. Can't go with whatever you choose for hibachi. -The chefs are always pleasant and fun to watch. The cons: -The portion sizes vary quite a bit. One day you can have plenty of leftovers and the next you'll barely leave with a full belly. -Customer service from the wait and host staff is definitely lacking. They always seem like they'd rather be somewhere else and despite how many people are in the restaurant youll be waiting at least a half hour. -The ambiance is kind to dark and dingy With that said indefinitely think it's worth a visit read more

I got chicken katsu and the katsu sauce was extremely thick and tasted like gross licorice sauce. the chicken was flat fried and tasteless. they served it with a scoop of white rice and a salad. the salad was just a plain salad made with lettuce and carrots. no dressing no taste no nothing. my husband got some shrimp and vegetables with noodles. and it was re bad. never go there again. very disappointing. read more

After being seated so late, holding our cool, we started with appetizers and drinks as well as tepanyaki. We had the volcano roll, California roll, shrimp-calamari tempura, and baked mussells. The rolls was horrible, the worst I have had in my life, tempuras were decent, and the baked mussels was the only item that brought light to our face. Next came the dinner. We got the chef only at 9 pm. Imagine an hour later. When I inquired with our server, he said they ONLY had 3 chefs that day so they were running short of staffs so long wait was unavoidable. If only this info was provided to us earlier before we even got seated we would have gone somewhere else. We felt betrayed. Anyways we went ahead and finished our meal. The sides: salad and soup was blant. The seafood, chicken, veggies, and fry rice was decent. I am giving one star only because of the chef. He was the only person who apologized to us for the chaos and long wait. I felt sorry for him as he had been cooking back to back even when they were over committed. Also the floor was so filthy. My husband and I had not been to Hayashi in six years and we decided to give it another try today. As we approached the restaurant, we didn't even want to touch the doors to open them to walk in. The doors and handles had obviously not been cleaned in quite some time and as COVID is still fairly prevalent, the lack of cleanliness was surprising. We persevered and walked in. There were three young employees standing at the hostess station visiting when we walked in and when we asked if we could sit at the bar, the young man stated he had to check if there was a bartender or if someone would assist us at the bar. After a couple minutes, we were told we could choose a seat at the empty bar and someone would be over. Eventually, a lady came over, said hello and then started picking up around the bar. At no point did she ask if she could get us anything to drink. Eventually we received three menus and a brief explanation of what each was... but again we were not asked if we wanted anything. We started looking at the menu that had cocktails and the lady said she didn't know how to make any drinks... even before we asked for something. So we settled on a beer. It took quite a long time before we were able to order food. Despite the "help wanted" sign on the door, there was an amazing quantity of staff standing around watching soccer and visiting. Not cleaning... which the restaurant desperately needs. We ordered some sushi rolls which were very very good. We were completely happy with the quality and quantity of food. It was hot, tasty and nicely presented. We were asked one time when the food was delivered if we required anything else and then were left to our own devices. It took multiple times and multiple people to get our check and an exceptionally long time for the server to run the card somewhere else than the bar. In conclusion: *I loved the food. *Hated the filthy place. *Disliked seeing staff not being utilized or guided in helping make the restaurant a better place and wasting time. *Disliked seeing staff parked close to the entrance that could be used for guests. *The manager was helpful and aside from the sushi chef, she appeared to be the only person who knew what needed to be done but she was too busy helping customers to guide staff. read more

We went here for my son's 12th birthday and it was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious. It was one of the best fillets we have ever had. A 1 hour wait turned into 2 hours. It was cold and windy inside. The door to the entrance was clearly broken and slamming for the whole 2 hours. My family was ignored and the staff was rude and dismissive. Apparently if you aren't on the list... you aren't seated. I don't see how we sat there for 2 hours and watched people come and go and still couldn't be seated and the staff was not considerate enough to let us know that there would be a delay.
