When you book your appointment it says mention you saw them on Yelp and when I did, the…read morereceptionist had no idea what it was about so I would say if you put on that on your business page to inform your staff (for that it lost a star) what it means. The first time I went, they were able to accommodate me right away which I appreciated and I had an assessment done. Like Lily said, the curtains are thin and not much of a barrier between patients. I also heard other clients talking about their issues and talking with the PTs or staff which wasn't great. Another time the PT Assistant, Ben (who I liked), was showing me exercises in the open area and while I was doing them, the staff were talking about clients and their assessment of their issues and I did not feel comfortable listening but there was no barrier so I could hear things they were saying! (another star down). It made me wonder if they talk about me and my issues when treating other clients. For my sessions, I would see the PT and he would ask me some questions and do a stretching exercise and then I would do more of the previous learned stretches and new stretches with Ben. I would also do them at home and often do them before my session so I didn't feel I was getting much new there towards the end before I stopped going. One time I asked the PT if massage would help and he said it might. I know if he says yes, I might stop going, but isn't the ultimate goal to try to help your patients get better? The thing that irked me was the last time I went, I gave the PT my doctor's card as my doctor had asked if he could send a note to her with regards to any thoughts on my issue. He told me he would do this on Monday (it was a Friday) and he never did! I asked my doctor a week later if she got anything and she said no. That was disappointing because then I felt they just wanted to collect my money for sessions. (another star down) He also came to the front counter when I was paying for that last session and telling them my benefits would run out and he advised me there's money from AHS that could pay for 3 sessions/month which was a nice tip but again, I felt he just wanted to make sure I return. After this, I stopped going and went for alternative treatment and another clinic for physio.

The outside waiting area had leather couches that were old with huge cracks/rips in them. Walking into the clinic, it seemed ok. There's a small waiting area with a couple chairs that face a wall of items for sale. The clinic itself had a long desk/table down the middle that was the congregation area for staff with their laptops, between patients, etc. There are bays along the side that have curtain dividers and some rooms towards the back. I met my therapist and we went into one of the bays just beside the desk. We talked about what I was there for, he looked at it and I did a couple of stretches. He brought his laptop in and googled what an ankle looked like and showed me that it was where I was needing therapy (yes, I know. I broke my ankle, which is why I was there.) Couple stretches, some ice and I was out. The reason did not return was two-fold. 1) I didn't feel like he and I were connecting - I was going to be spending time with this person; I needed us to work well together. I was also a bit skeptical that he didn't think I needed to see him "too much" - I feel this was something I wanted to fix as aggressively as possible. 2) the curtains there are thin pieces of fabric. As I was going through my appointment, I heard the staff talk about a number of their patients, their situations and their own personal things. It did not feel professional and made me wonder what they would say about me. Unprofessional and uncomfortable = no thank you.

The location is quite accessible from both the south and west sides of the city, and appointments are available in the evening after work, which was super convenient. The clinic is not very busy, and I was able to schedule appointments on my chosen dates and times with no hassle. The building the clinic is located in is a little run down, and it's not the nicest clinic (I always wanted to use the hand sanitizer by the door when leaving). One Google review I found commented on how sour and unpleasant one receptionist was, and boy they were not kidding. I feel like the appointments initially helped my healing, and getting mobility movements through my ribs and chest and an assessment of my strength was important. As my treatments continued however, I was less and less satisfied, and they began to feel like a waste of my time. After three weeks of going twice a week, I still wasn't given any new treatment or progression in any exercises. I was often left alone with a hot pad for half the visit, with it sitting so long it went cold on at least one occasion. Most visits were just being instructed to do the same exercises as the previous visit after laying with a hot pad, with no supervision or guidance. I could have easily done this at home on my own. I was not pleased that throughout my visits I saw no improvement in the pain I was feeling, and actually experienced increased pain for days after having my neck aggressively moved around (the pain was so bad I nearly had to go home from work). Despite my feedback the therapist continued with the same adjustments every treatment. My therapist did not want to amend my insurance forms so I could supplement physio with massage, as any visits to a massage clinic would be one less I could come for a physio treatment (he said this). I finally ended up going to a second clinic for an assessment, and found my treatment there to be so much better than Meadowlark. My assessment at Meadowlark was under 15 minutes, whereas it was a full hour at the second clinic I went to. Meadowlark did not offer me any of the treatment I was offered at the second clinic (cupping, TENS therapy, massage and self-massage, print-outs of take home stretches and exercises, taping of muscles, active release therapy, home treatment aids, etc.), and lacked modern professional touches such as computers to take notes on, and using actual equipment to measure range of motion rather than a qualitative visual assessment. In short, I felt like the time I was spending was being maximized for the clinic's benefit, and not necessarily mine. The clinic is lacking in modern treatment methods, and in quality, comprehensive care, especially after the emotional trauma associated with a car accident. Meadowlark wasn't right for me, and there are better options available in the city.
