To say that I play pretty hard and don't think about the consequences is a bit of an understatement. I visited the ESI after a fairly bad injury to my right leg that had left me with some nerve damage - meaning I was having trouble actually using my foot to walk, which scared me pretty badly. After a bit of googling, I found ESI and sent them an email outlining what I had done and my symptoms - I am not a professional athlete and I had already had x-rays done at a medicentre claiming "nothing was broken," so I was nervous as to whether my case was actually legitimate or not. Low and behold, I was emailed back almost immediately by the admin staff, asking me to call in and make an appointment. They were able to find me an appointment within a few days of sending that email, which is an amazing feat for any doctor's office. I went in and saw Dr Gregg and he was a wonderful doctor - really understood that my active life is important to me and gave me the facts straight without being unfriendly. He was confident and knowledgeable and I walked out (well, hobbled out) feeling really great that I had found a solution to some of my injuries. He explained a lot of things about my feet and legs that no other doctor has taken the time to explain to me. I have also had the pleasure of seeing David, one of the individuals at the ESI who does orthotics making and fitting. Booking several appointments with him for the various fittings and consultation was very easy and he seemed to really love his trade and be genuinely concerned for my health. I have been wearing my orthotics for almost a month now and have seen severe improvements in my running stride and my pronation. It is scary how many injuries came out of those elements alone and how long it took for me to find a doctor in Edmonton who actually figured that out. The clinic itself is very nice and clean, and includes a large physiotherapy space on site. All orthotics are also made on site, which is nice to know. If you have any problems with muscle pain, injuries, mobility issues or foot pain, I definitely recommend calling and getting yourself in to see the doctors at the ESI. It's really great to find a medical centre that is going to get you the answers you need to be active and pain-free.

I've been going here for a back injury and they've been pretty helpful in getting me back on track…read more I was having trouble sleeping when it started acting up, so I called them and was able to get in pretty quickly. After one session I was feeling much better and no longer losing sleep because of the injury. They've used a combination of massage, stretching, strengthening exercises, heat and TENS machines. Each patient is given a bed, with a curtain around it, where the massage and TENS machines are used. I also do stretches within that area, and it seems a bit small. Overall, I'm fairly satisfied, based on the other physiotherapists I've seen in the past. The only thing which Innovation doesn't do, which my previous therapists have done, is give me sheets that explain the exercises and stretches and number of reps to do for each. That would be a nice touch as I'm a bit forgetful at times!

Fast forward three months later, and I'm a bit sad my sessions are over! The reception staff are always welcoming (and easy on the eyes which is a bit of a selfish perk), and Alan (my therapist) was not only very fun to talk to, but very educational. Every session I left armed with more knowledge than I had before, becoming more and more able to identify my own pains and how to remedy them at home. All and all, a great recovery experience from what started as a sceptical and painful beginning point!

They do not direct bill, but are clear as to their charges. Honestly, if it wasn't for this place, my health wouldn't be as great as it is now. I am ever so thankful for my visits and my physiotherapist, Elizabeth, is great. My partner has also been here to see a couple of different staff members with good results. Called and spoke with Jody, she was to investigate and get back to me about how to get my $180 back, she never called me back. I then placed a follow up call to her, she was not in so I left a message in November but she has never returned my call. I would not advise attending this business as what they say and what they do are not the same. I attended mid Aug/Sept 2015 and will not use their services again.

As he manipulates and moves the parts of my hand around, he explains why and what he is doing in each step. He is very knowledgeable and in the few months I've been going to him, my hand has gone from a 3 in pain and functioning (out of 10) to a 9. I accepted his recommendations of cupping and needling and was pleased with the result. He sends me away with exercises to continue the improvement on my hand, after first demonstrating them and supervising my practice movements. In my last visit he gave me a few more exercises, which he feels should help me bring my hand and forearm to full recovery. Nooman was personable and professional--I recommend him to anyone needing physiotherapy.

I asked my friend, the athlete, who she goes to and she recommended Oksana at Art of Healing Pain. She told me that she had thought she had a stress fracture and was going to have to quit running right at the beginning of marathon season. After a couple of massage sessions with Oksana she was able to make it to every marathon she had planned on. She also managed to hit her time goals to boot. The Art of Healing pain is in the basement of a house in the Dickenfield neighbourhood. It's very clean and comfortable. Oksana is very thorough in her history taking and always seems to be able to get to the cause of your problems. I have been a regular of hers for a while now and I never leave disappointed. In fact I usually leave amazed at how much better I feel. She even manages to find the muscles that you didn't even realize were bothering you but were anyway. While on the massage table she's very careful at making sure you are comfortable and kept decent. She uses a blend of natural oils which leaves your skin soft but not oily. The music is soft and soothing. On top of her magical hands Oksana also has some awesome conversation skills. She know exactly when to talk to keep you distracted from the discomfort and when to leave you in silence to embrace the healing effects of her skill. Seriously I cannot recommend this lady enough. She can perform many style of massage techniques as well as cupping, acupuncture and acupressure and all other kinds of weird and magical arts that just leave you feeling like a million bucks.
