This is not what I expect when paying for a KOA. Our pad is gravel mixed with mud. Getting from my truck into the camper is a pain because I have to walk through this muddy gravel mixture. The whole place is in need of loads and loads of new gravel There was a huge puddle beside our site. Once we got unhitched, I didn't want to move, but I am regretting the fact that I didn't at least try to move to a better site if there is one. We made this reservation six months ago and are very disappointed in our site and this campground.

Vowed to search for another campground that we can regularly visit and call our summer escape. Fast forward to this year, and we just got home from our 4th visit! This KOA is smaller, but is packed with great service and amenities. My kids love it here, and I love that I can keep an eye on them when they run off to the playground. There are usually events through the weekends to keep everyone entertained. The grounds are also close to the Trexler Nature Preserve and the Appalachian Trail for some good hiking. The only negative: Took one star off because we've noticed that they built up tent pads and gravel "driveways" for the tent sites and smaller vehicle sites. It doesn't give much leeway how you can set up your site. The tent pads are also rock hard and very unforgiving on tent stakes.

There's a tiny bridge as well as a very iffy hike alongside. I had my deaf and blind dog along with me so I couldn't do too much as I was afraid he'd fall down the side into the river. I hear that just past this parking area there's a beach? That should be cool. I'm actually on my way back there this morning to check it out. Bring water and bug spray cause I can only imagine the mosquitos, etc., that are there in late Spring and during Summertime. Enjoy!! Happy hiking.

I stayed in the organized group camping area and loved how the sites that we booked allowed for plenty of tents to spread out within your group. We stayed in J, K and L. Last year there were porter potties and this year there was a bathhouse. Sadly there were no showers, the family bathroom was locked all weekend, and maintence getting to the bathroom was not good. Wehad to walk through a field of knee high grass to get there. During peak tick season, this was not ideal. Lastly, quiet hours apparently do not exist this is area of camping. Groups around us were chanting and singing before 5am and had an intense volleyball match at 6am. Boyscotts camped near us and were up late screaming until 12am. There needs to be more ranger presence, this truly altered our experience. The state park itself has great hiking and swimming area but the organized group sites were very mismanaged.

Admittedly I didn't have many interactions in the month I stayed there but what little contact I did have was all positive. I stayed for 1 full month and had a very nice campsite for my camper. The campground was clean and very wooded which I found peaceful. The lake is very nice and there are plenty of amenities including a clubhouse, mini golf, playground and regular events. I am working in the area and Evergreen was my first choice of campgrounds partly because of location and partly because it doesn't have that 'trailer park' feel due to the abundance of trees and irregularity of campsite spacing and orientation. The caveat with the trees is that getting a 30' camper in and out of the sites can be a challenge. Unfortunately I was forced to move to another campground because Evergreen didn't have 'winter' water at their regular campsites and I needed a space through the end of December. If they upgrade their water to accommodate year round campers I would move back without hesitation. Weekends the tent sites fill up and it has a different feel than through the week when it's mostly the seasonal campers but it was always nice. I would recommend Evergreen to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful place to stay in warmer months. If you need a winter site look elsewhere.
