I'm staying four nights at this KOA. I am very disappointed. From my site, what I see are full-time or seasonal campers with piles of junk around their campers. This is not what I expect when paying for a KOA. Our pad is gravel mixed with mud. Getting from my truck into the camper is a pain because I have to walk through this muddy gravel mixture. The whole place is in need of loads and loads of new gravel There was a huge puddle beside our site. Once we got unhitched, I didn't want to move, but I am regretting the fact that I didn't at least try to move to a better site if there is one. We made this reservation six months ago and are very disappointed in our site and this campground. read more

When we first visited this campground last year, we felt like the campsites were too crowded and close together. Vowed to search for another campground that we can regularly visit and call our summer escape. Fast forward to this year, and we just got home from our 4th visit! This KOA is smaller, but is packed with great service and amenities. My kids love it here, and I love that I can keep an eye on them when they run off to the playground. There are usually events through the weekends to keep everyone entertained. The grounds are also close to the Trexler Nature Preserve and the Appalachian Trail for some good hiking. The only negative: Took one star off because we've noticed that they built up tent pads and gravel "driveways" for the tent sites and smaller vehicle sites. It doesn't give much leeway how you can set up your site. The tent pads are also rock hard and very unforgiving on tent stakes. read more

Very quiet and wooded. We backed up to a calm stream which doubled in size overnight after a thunderstorm. We loved it.

Nelly and co were friendly from the start. The pool and gem sluice made this place a good recreation spot for our little one, and camping beside Switzer Creek made it restful for us. We didn't have the most private site, but moderate tree cover and the creek bubbling past were very nice. The creek appears to divide the campground in half but there are bridges throughout, including a cute covered bridge behind the camp store/laundry/pool, all of which were very clean. Enjoying the fire pit is easy since they deliver firewood directly to your site. There are wineries in the area, and some are super close, but this family-friendly campground allows no alcohol so use your party cup and don't act like a rookie. If you forget something the camp store has most staples--and video rental!!! If your camper has DVD, happy browsing. In all, a pleasant spot if you're passing through, or a decent spot to make a weekend of it. I'm betting it's gorgeous in Autumn. read more

Quick trip w grandkids we stayed in cabin by the pool. Check in easy n fast employees very friendly. Awesome store w lots of neccessary items. Pool was nice only 3 tables w shade for babies glad stroller had a canopy. only steps to get to the pool so had to manuever stroller down n up like 6 big concrete steps. My family brought our pop up camper here mid September. We checked in with some indifferent employees in the shop, and a guy on a golf cart escorted us directly to the site. It was a good size site, situated directly next to a small stream. Very scenic and good tree cover/shade throughout most of the grounds. Saturday throughout the day there were little events at the rec center - donuts and coffee at 10am, an ice cream social at 3pm - all of which were complimentary. The facilities, restrooms and grounds were as you would expect from a KOA campground - kept up, but maybe they could put a little extra in toward it. We had a good time over the weekend. We also made the hiking trail circuit - be ready for a steep hike! It takes about 30-40 minutes to complete, or at least it did for me. Very scenic forested path and at the end a cool tree fort and some views of the surrounding farms. Possibly could have had a four star rating, however I have to agree with some other Yelpers that the alcohol free rule was a bit perplexing. Although I absolutely certain many of the campers were indeed drinking alcohol. Also later into Friday and Saturday night, there was pretty good amount of noise, yelling etc. from people hanging out around their fires... I'm talking like 12:30am. Hot the end of the world, but would be nice if somebody drove around and kept an eye on that. Decent place. Give it a try for yourself. read more

Rented a cabin for three nights. The cabin was cute. But filthy. I understand it's camping and a cabin but the floors Should be cleaned at some point. There was only one ac in the two room cabin which kept it bareable. The store and arcade closes a few hours each day which was kind of a letdown. Overall the grounds were very mushy I guess because they are in and around a creek? The pool was nice, bathrooms ok. Once we got there realized there is no alcohol allowed which I think is absurd. I enjoy a beer by the campfire at the end of the day but couldn't do that here? When you walk out of the bathroom you almost trip on the cigarette posts where you can smoke. The worker was there one day smoking up a storm. So myself and daughter had to walk through a cloud of smoke to get out the door. Smoke all You want and disturb non smokers but don't drink a beer on your campsite. We ended up checking out a day early because I was sick of having black feet and socks from the floor of the cabin. read more

Beware the flood plain! We camped in early June. Upon arrival, the river was at a moderate height. After one day of steady rains, all the water from the surrounding valley caused the river to go up maybe eight inches to encroach on the grassy bank. The ground everywhere became very swampy and the gravel roads were under an inch of water. Our "kabin" was nice and clean but there is evidence of flood damage if you look for it, which is not surprising because flood plain. The basic cabin we got, number 7, has two small rooms, about 12x8 each. Theres a double bed in the first room that takes up most of the space in that room and two bunks in the back room. There's a mini fridge but no microwave. Everything is a bit, well, "kramped." You don't get much space with your site, and even the bunk beds seemed to have narrower-than-standard mattresses. Heater and a/c both worked fine, so it was comfortable on that level. The front porch swing was a hit with our whole family. The game room was closed and I peeked in and, of course, they were using it as a storage unit, even though we've been open from covid for a few weeks. I don't really see them clearing it out anytime soon, though I would love to be pleasantly surprised. There are tons of sticks that are easy to find in the woods so no need to worry about bringing firewood. Also, the WiFi is pretty slow. Maybe it's overloaded with bored kampers, but still you gotta plan for that. Playgrounds were meh, nothing to write home about. We did enjoy the hiking trail, it is steep but there are pretty views and a neat lookout at the top. The PROs: Beautiful, well-stocked store and nice lounge/gameroom. Nice hiking trail, meandering up a steeply sloping hillside. Well-maintained grounds. The CONs: Aloof, impersonal owners. Cramped sites (our big rig was only 8 feet from a cabin). And ... no alcohol. Seriously? Grown adults can't have a beer or a glass of wine while cooking out? Give me a break. Wouldn't go back to this place on a bet. read more

Went here for two nights tent camping with my wife and son. The bathrooms/houses are clean. They have a nice general store and nice size pool. Everyone there at Allentown KOA are very nice and friendly. We were able to look at some of the other cabins. The cabins that are a step up from a tent are very nice and have great rates. If we camp next year we're going to upgrade to a cabin. read more

We stayed here for 2 days while on our summer trip. We arrived about 11:30p and were disappointed that we had to have our camp set up by midnight or we couldn't do it at all. At first we had issues finding our site and had to pass what looked like trailers that were there for some time etc. before we could find it but in all honesty that was mainly our fault. The camp had facilities that were pretty good such as a scantily stocked store and a very handy 24 hour laundromat. The pool was warm but refreshing and there was a mini golf course (9 hole) that looked to be in good shape. We were disappointed that this was a non alcohol based park, I mean we paid to be here and it is not a state park. It served it's purpose and we felt pretty safe leaving our things behind as we went other places. Note that there were many flying insects in July. read more

Came in from ME, was a great last night stop before heading back to Ohio. We rented the deluxe cabin. It was clean, had everything we needed, including coffee!I was surprised the cabin had AC/TV and free wifi. Staff/owners were amazing and friendly. They were there to help with everything. They escorted us to the site and even brought the fire wood for us. I will definitely be coming back. Sure it can get noisy sometimes but for the most part everyone respected the quiet time. Definitely worth checking out. read more

While this campground is in a beautiful location, the staff did not seem knowledgable of the surrounding area attractions. The website said there was horseback riding within 2 miles. I called the them they no longer did trail rides. Asked the KOA for another option they had no clue. While there they had coupons for $1 off a local corn maze that also had mini golf. Bear Rock Junction was nice but they did not have the corn maze this year. Also, this KOA camp store did not open until 9am on the weekend and closed at 7pm. They had no campground activities going on while we were there except for free mini golf on Saturday. Oh and then there was the gun club down the road. We heard gun shots until about 10 pm Friday night and they started up again at around 8am Saturday. We thought we would be gun shot free Sunday, nope started up at 10am. The dog walk area was okay, would have been nicer if it had been fenced in as it was right next to the road coming into the campground. All I kept thinking was what if a dog breaks free. The bathrooms were clean but at night were not well lit. I literally walked into a bench they had sitting outside the ladies room. Bring your own firewood the stuff they sell would not light. And once we got some good firewood and got a good fire going they wood we brought from them. Burned up quickly. October 17-19,2014 read more
