I am a professional that experienced a transaction with a customer using this lender. The customer had to change lenders and had switched to HFS. Although HFS was able to close the loan with 2 extensions, the email communication was less than professional. A lot of typos, that included "hope" I can make it, "I fear" and long winded excuses as to why there was no responses or delay to requests. They also mentioned that their "Team was on it", but we still experienced no timely response from any team member. In Real Estate and Mortgage lending there is a timeline to keep too. And weak excuses for delays from a lender is unacceptable. Being a Local myself, communicating with other local professionals, (outside of having a personal relationship) we need to avoid using low confidence words in our business communication. I felt unsure that this lender was going to close this loan without a mishap. Reminds me of the Sub-prime lending years of 2005-2006 when anyone can be a loan officer. Otherwise they deserve 3 stars. There is always room for improvement. read more

Although i wasn't able to currently prequalify for financing, my experience with Hawaii Financial Service was disappointing. Tera and Michelle seem nice and personable, but were very difficult to get on the phone during the process. Now, three weeks later, i still haven't been contacted with any information regarding options for loans or even any help at all with formulating a future plan.
