Beware of Deep Cleaning Scams: Dr. MO Multiple emails to…read moreclinic ahead of time just to schedule a routine cleaning, since my prior dentist retired. Never had a cavity in my life and have been getting 2 cleaning and regular x-ray on routine basis for health maintenance. Checked in ok, and was proceeded to the back by hygienist. Just about to clean, Dr. Mo (Mohammed Alyagoob: NPI: 1952979189) walked in, took one look at my x-ray (5 months ago), and said that I needed "Deep Cleaning". When inquired as to why, especially given my history, he was extremely dismissive and said "Do you want your teeth to fall off?". He then proceeded to tell me that I have an infected tooth and puss is coming out, despite that I have no pain, fever, systemic symptoms of whatsoever. Dr. Mo then stated that : "You can go somewhere if you like" repeatedly, when I asked more questions. I told him that doing deep cleaning cost thousands of $ and often requires prior approval, and that I am requesting him to just do regular cleaning and reassess in 6 months and if necessary, we can see if deep cleaning receives prior authorization. He refused to do regular cleaning and told me to leave. SCAM PART: It is often done by shoddy dental practices, NOT to do regular cleaning and push people to do "Deep cleaning". It cost $$$$ in thousands, instead of $100 or so. It also requires strong anesthesia, often extreme pain and requires very strong pain medication to control symptoms, not to mention multiple visit and chances to bill your insurance on multiple occasions. Often they justify the necessity as any bone loss. However, please note that anyone over the age of 50 will have some bone loss, no different in your teeth than rest of your body. They may scam you to think that bone loss is only related to deep infection and inflammations that requires deep cleaning. WHAT CAN YOU DO: Call their clinic managers and report. Call your insurance company to report to Ethicspoint or similar line. Examine your provider from IL Department of Professional Regulation to see if they have been disciplined previously. If you encounter potential scams, report to IL Dept of Professional Regulations. Get another opinion. Trust your body sense of what it is telling you.

The staff were all kind, but this place is not a professional environment that I'd trust for healthcare. I went in for a chipped front tooth and extreme wisdom teeth pain (infected). My appointment lasted all of 15 minutes after really fast/poor quality X-Rays. I never even saw a doctor- just 2 hygienists. One hygienist said there was nothing wrong with my chipped tooth and the pain was probably radiating from my wisdom teeth. I said it was distinctly different and asked him to please recheck the X-Ray. He looked at the X-Ray again then said, "oh, you're right. There is something irregular here. You need either a filling or a root canal- I'm not sure which one. Come back next month and we will decide which one at that time. As for your wisdom teeth, God or your body- whichever you want to say- gives you those teeth for a reason. Dentistry is about saving teeth, not removing them. You will just need to get through it. It's like when babies cry as they teethe, but for adults." Then he left the room and the other hygienist said, "you definitely need to get your wisdom teeth removed. Schedule your follow-up with someone different so you can get it done." Even the receptionist was confused that I didn't know what kind of follow-up appointment I was needing to schedule, since fillings and root canals are VERY different. Definitely do NOT go here unless you're desperate.

He entered and introduced himself and said I can pull this tooth or you can come back another day. The crazy thing is The appointment was scheduled for an extraction so what was the point of the question. I then told him that's why I scheduled the appointment for an extraction he then says so is that a yes? That was rude and unnecessary. The 1st thing he did was grab my chin and throw my head back and told me to open my mouth that hurt my face and my feelings now I know how horses feel. During the procedure he didn't treat me like a person he threw his tools on my chest while he was working umm dentist normally have a tray right over you to put their tools on my chest is not a table. I haven't experienced that before. Also I was in extreme pain to the point I pushed his hand away which I apologized for I'm 43 years old and have had many extractions and two root canal's and have never felt that much pain from any dentist. I apologized it was like a reflex when I did it I felt so bad. He gave more medication it was still hurting so I was balling my fists up and shaking from the extreme pain. This upset him so he screamed at me and told me to stop being so tense telling me it's not pain it's just the vibrations from the drill and me moving was making it worse. There were tears coming out my eyes from the pain. The pain I was feeling caused me to tense up. Ladies and Gentleman I can take vibrations I was feeling extreme pain. So he said I'm going to stop and we will sedate you for this tooth extraction that was a good call. Now his assistant went to re-explain why we need to reschedule the visit was due to me not being able to calm down, so I told her I was very calm I was feeling extreme pain while I was telling her that this surgeon started yelling at me again saying yea we gotta reschedule because you need to be sedated so you can be calm. I asked him what should I do for the pain in the mean time since you drilled some of this tooth away. He yelled from the hallway take some Tylenol. He didn't ask me how I was feeling, I don't know if he was having a bad day or what? If a tooth is so bad that you can't even get it numb enough it would stand to reason he should've at least offered to prescribe me something for the pain. This surgeon is not much for small talk either. Normally dentist and oral surgeons do multiple checks to see if your experiencing pain and they don't yell at you for being in pain. I've gotten better dental care on Medicaid

There are times when you worry your health is danger from a practitioner. Dr. Choo scared the heck…read moreout of me the two times I went to him; the second time almost made me want to run out of his clinic. He's quirky and delivers some strange advice when it comes to teeth cleaning. Twice he never gave me a cleaning, choosing instead to give me an ultrasound water pic on my gums and a light oral rinse. When I asked him why he wasn't doing a true cleaning using dental tools, he said, "Your teeth don't need it...they are good." Some of the things he said during my visits were absurd, like, "Your teeth are like my daughter. You know why I said that? Because she is careful." He described dental cleanings on my teeth by pulling up his pant leg and saying, "There's no reason to clean too much or you will hurt it like bare skin." When I arrived for my second visit, the office "lost" my appointment and scheduled me to come back the following week. I realized that a previous reviewer had the same issue years ago. The office does not call to confirm appointments, and Dr. Choo has a habit of not showing up for appointments. The second visit was awful. He mentioned that some of my gums were receding (they are not). He then mentioned he was going to do something because insurance would pay for it, and without describing the procedure, he pulled out a syringe of Alpha-Dent Etchant--a Blue liquid that's phosphoric acid. When I told him that I did NOT want the procedure and to remove it from my teeth immediately, he said ok and rinsed it out of my mouth. He never explained the procedure in full, its benefits, nor the potential damage to the enamel. A Google search came back with advice that the procedure has led to irreversible damage to teeth and gums. So my advice is: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BOOK AN APPOINTMENT WITH DR. CHOO.

If you leave a message do not expect a return phone call. You are better off calling between 10-1pm to possibly have one of the reps answer the phone. I scheduled two appointments one for myself and husband. Upon arrival they only booked one appointment thankful they were able to squeeze me in. While waiting you will hear the workers ring tunes and personal conversations as you wait for a chair to be ready. I list on my patient profile sheet I am allergic to latex. Guess what the reps had on their hands? Finally, after Dr Choo thoroughly explained our current dental health he tried to pitch a $6500 invisalign brace service to my husband. Despite my husband having a minor gap which he notes on his patient profile that he was happy with his smile Dr Choo was pretty persistent in explaining this service. She explained their no-pressure orthodontic consultation and found an appointment time that worked great for my family and I. Natalia and the entire front office (special shout-out to Melissa too!) have always been kind and helpful. We had a great consult with Dr. Dale. He was so thorough in his exam and recommendations, with a warmth that we had never experienced before. We are so grateful, as our daughter (and we, her parents) were instantly put at ease. We immediately wanted to become his patients and plan to be for many, many years! Becky assisted us regarding orthodontic cost and payment options. She is SPECTACULAR. There was never any pressure to proceed, and she and the team made sure that everything was explained in full detail so we knew what to expect at all times. Above and beyond! That is what Chicago Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is. Our daughter was actually excited and still is to have braces on her teeth. We are in awe. Thank you magnificent Chicago Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics team! If you want excellent orthodontic care - you MUST check them out.

Dr. Dale Benjamin misled me at the consultation by promising treatment that left me with a huge…read moreoverbite (bigger on the upper left than on the right side), teeth were not fully aligned, a piece of a tooth broke during the treatment, he shortened my upper left tooth in trying to create impression of delivering quick results and most importantly left me with misaligned bite where my upper and lower teeth no longer match. As a result I can't close my mouth properly and I am in constant discomfort that led to jaw pain, headaches, tension in my tongue, face and neck muscles, and a lot of anxiety. My face changed significantly as a result of the treatment. Dale Benjamin refused to give me a refund unless I sign a release form that I am taking the refund as a settlement and I release him from any liability that may arise from his treatment. When I reached out to him regarding the jaw pain he referred me to a general dentist for a toothache. In my opinion Dr. Dale doesn't have any integrity and he is not trustworthy. I still haven't begun a treatment somewhere else because I paid $4,520 to Dale Benjamin and now I have to pay $7,500 to another orthodontist to fix what Dr. Benjamin messed up. Therefore I have been wearing unattended braces since April 2024, the colored O rings started falling out and I accidentally swallowed three of them. With that said, you should think 100 times before you hire a board certified orthodontist with university degree who will trick you into a treatment that caused more damage than good and who wants to be released from any liability that might arise from the treatment he provided you with. I don't know how I fell for the promises of Dr. Benjamin. Had I known that that after one year I will have the overbite of a horse and I will not be able to close my mouth properly I would've ran away from his clinic. At the consultation I chose metal braces. I am 41 years old and Dr. Benjamin asked me how I am going to date with metal braces. Well, I see no issue but anyway my dating life is not Dr. Benjamin's business. I began the treatment and when I went for my first check up he referred to me as "you were the one with the metal braces" and he rushed to clarify that I am the first adult patient he has ever had to choose metal braces over ceramic. At this point I don't know what made the doctor feel so comfortable talking to me like this. Was the big issue because of a $600 difference in the price or the doctor is normally a bully who likes degrading his patients. The only reason I agreed to this treatment is because he assured me that there will be no tooth extraction and now he was recommending extraction. Dale Benjamin apologized that he misspoke at the consultation by saying there will be no extraction. I consulted with four other orthodontists and they all did not recommend extraction of premolars as suitable for me. I also want to mention the office manager Shelly Martinez. When I spoke over the phone with her to share my complaints and dissatisfaction with Dr. Benjamin's work she called that a slander accusing me of lying and slandering Dr. Benjamin because I quote: "She doesn't know him in this light". No worries, I will upload photos of what they call a "slander". That was a very disappointing experience. I come from Europe where doctors with university degrees don't sit like a salesman telling you anything you want to hear in order to sell you their services. I regret the day I went in for a consultation and I fell for the promises of Dale Benjamin. I regret the day I hired Dale Benjamin. His treatment caused more damage than good. Now instead of taking the braces off and moving on with my life now I have to begin a new treatment, spend thousands more, undergo a painful surgery to remove impacted wisdom tooth and then spend another year or more wearing braces but that doesn't guarantee that for the $7,500 I will spend the overbite of a horse will be reduced as it may end up permanent. Hiring Dale Benjamin as my orthodontist was the biggest waste of time and money in my life!
