My husband and I got married at The McPherson in November 2019. We are so grateful, it was a 65…read moredegree day and then the next it was snowing! Anyway, prior to deciding on this venue, we had toured other venues near CWE and what really sealed it for us was Phillip. We toured the venue with Phillip, he worked within our budget, treated us impeccably well, was very easy to coordinate the wedding day-of events, he was beyond attentive on our wedding day, and he made sure I was taken care of on our wedding day. As soon as he knew we were good to go (after cocktails) he let us go about our evening with the reception. We had both the ceremony and reception here. When I say that we did nothing on our wedding day, we did nothing! Phillip's team flipped the room from the ceremony to the reception in less than 30 minutes so that my wedding party can decorate. Our decorations were minimal because the venue is the statement. You actually do not need a lot of decorations (unless you want to, then you do you!) but we thought the venue was so gorgeous. I attached some photos for some inspiration and hopefully it inspires you to book The McPherson. Location: I am from Los Angeles so having my family come to STL and spending some time in CWE was a no brainer. The McPherson has a large parking lot for any guests coming with cars. We stayed at The Chase after our wedding so location was so convenient. Venue: Marvelous! There was a bridal room and even a groom's room! The bridal room was downstairs and reminded me of a salon! My niece-in-laws and bridal party had so much fun in the bridal room while we waited for guests to arrive. There is even a tv for you to see when guests arrive and where they are sitting. The back patio was so romantic. No decorations needed! Catering: The McPherson partners with Russo's catering. Food was a delight! I am not too picky however for some reason I do recall how food at a wedding was, that's just me. I don't care too much about grand flowers or a massive cake. To each their own! Russo's invited us to a tasting and holy gryffindor! It was so much fun. Very detailed, well organized, and we felt so special! Our catering contact scheduled an appointment with us closer to our wedding date to talk through details. Super easy to work with! Their team puts everything together and breaks everything down! Some of my family members are gluten free, some needed high chairs, and Russo's had a full plan for all our special needs! We went with passed appetizers right after the ceremony and they were a hit! We also went with assorted desserts, they were bite sized and we instead of a large cake we went with a token cake just to cut for photos. We also hand picked all five of our dessert options! Every time my husband and I reminisce about our wedding day, we cannot think of anything that went wrong and that is mostly due to this venue, the catering company, and you gotta have a top notch wedding party. The outside space was gorgeous and with my 105 guests it fit them without any problems. The overall price was reasonable compared to other venue prices i researched around STL and I bought the decor package so a lot of great stuff was included. The day-of coordinator and GM were argumentative and unprofessional with us, our family, some of our vendors, and even our officiant. A wedding venue should help make the day run smoothly, not add more stress, and unfortunately that wasn't our experience.

My family and I recently had an event at this location. A surprise party for my dad. We searched…read morehigh and low for a clean, nice, but not-too-expensive venue to host it. I was searching and asking around to some friends, and since I don't live in St. Louis, my mom, who does live in St. Louis, and I had to tag-team in getting info and scouting locations. I got info on this location and my mom went to go check it out. Out of all the other places she saw, this one she really liked most. Its apparently owned by a husband and wife-- and we're all in for supporting family businesses. The first interactions my mom had in dealing with them were from, as we called, The Wife. To be honest, not very pleasant. She took DAYS to call you back/follow up, she was rude, not very thorough in her information, snippy, had an attitidude and just lacked general customer service etiquiette. It was by pure chance that after the second time my mom had to deal with them, she got a chance to talk to Anthony, to which we call, The Husband. He was VERY nice: an easy-going, laid back guy who was very pleasant to talk to, flexible and extrememely accomodating. We got lucky-- because we were ready to cancel/walk away from this venue because of dealing with The Wife. But The Husband was able to calm the situation down and we were put back at ease to move forward. By the time I got to St. Louis to help with the party set-up, I was holding my breath hoping that I wouldn't have to deal with The Wife. She had already rubbed my mom such the wrong way, I didn't want any animosity to happen the day of the event, when we're all having a good time. So, if you choose this venue, which, overall I would recommend for clean, accommodating, affordable function: a DJ booth set up, nice kitchen, floors, no stains in the ceiling tiles, a little stage area, etc, when you call, ask to speak to Anthony. Because until The Wife gets some charm school classes under her belt, she may give you the wrong impression as to what this little gem of a place really can be.
