If I could give it zero stars, I would.
I was not happy for many, many reasons.
I know that this company has got a good rating on yelp, which I can only attribute to 2 reasons--the vast majority of reviewers (there are a couple who kinda kill it) are people who are completely unfamiliar with website design--what I'm trying to say is that it's easy to give a good complement when you aren't aware of what other web services are out there and the general pricing--and that most of his earlier reviews were during a time when he was in participating in a weekly small business connections group. If you see the same people week after week, it would be prudent to ask other members to review your site. Even though I was also in that same small business connection/referral group, he absolutely left me suffering as a paying client.
I should also point out that I hired him to do an entire website, which is the main component of his business.
**As of the time I posted this review, his website (remember he is a web designer, folks) is currently under construction! I have no words.**
Here are just a few:
-Lee failed to deliver on almost all of his deadlines that he himself set.
-As a client, I was extremely frustrated with Lee's responsiveness via phone and email, and it was very common for him to take days to respond back to me and to top it off, he would fail to respond to specific questions I had. At one point, to make an appointment with him, I would have to send an email to his office assistant who would then get back with me days later to schedule a meeting. Since he works from home, we always had to meet at public places like Starbucks. This is fine for most people, but my particular website is geared towards adults. His scheduling process was never easy, and it would often take several days from my initial request to get something scheduled. I got the feeling that I was bothering him with my check in requests when I was the paying client.
-It was extremely difficult to get full access to my website once I decided to hire another web designer. My website was hosted under a subcontractor that he uses and I was told that even though it was MY website, it was registered partially under his name. In fact, I only got my full files on a disk AFTER my second website was launched. This made it necessary for me to have to pay for an entire 2nd website from the ground up. I was not able to just have my new designer tweak the design to better reflect my taste. They built me an entire new site. I was also told that the coding on his website was problematic , had multiple error messages, and very difficult for the new designer to work with.
-He once called me on a weekend to ask for me to pay a portion of his agreed upon fees prior to the agreed upon date. Seriously, who does that? This is super inappropriate especially since it was such a struggle for me to get him to return my calls. Funny how he went out of his way to call me on a weekend when he needed money.
-When I told him how completely unhappy I was with his service, he never once offered to provide me ANY type of re-imbursement for the $2500 I had already paid.
What I experienced was 1) lack of responsiveness and really bad customer service, 2) not having full ownership (even though I paid for it) to access all my website files, 3) unprofessional behavior, 4) lost about $2500 on a website that basically had to be re-built because I couldn't get access to all my current information.
In short, my experience was a extremely sucky, upsetting and unpleasant. I will never use any portion of his services again nor will I ever refer anyone to the business.
