While wandering the busy streets of Port Credit over the weekend, and old familiar craving came…read moreover me. The weather was hot, the streets were buzzing and I really wanted to treat myself to a cigar without breaking the bank (and without smoking a crap cigar). I'd been meaning to check out Havana Castle since it opened nearly a year ago, but either never had the time or opportunity. Now I found myself out front of their doors with time to spare - hooray! So I went in and WOW, I know where they've been sending all the extra cigars during the US/Cuba trade embargo - this place is stacked! Wall to wall cigars and cigar accessories as well as, hookahs, and the occasional "herbal" smoking appliance. But don't get me wrong, this is no head shop, this is a premium cigar joint. Even their walk-in humidor was massive and lined with the finest in every kind and size (and price point) cigar an aficionado (or aspiring one like myself) could hope for. I got to talking to the owner, who the average person might seem a little kurt, but once you got him talking he was the nicest and friendliest business owner I've met in awhile. He helped me find the perfect cigar for my budget and taste, before telling me about how much he loves his regular customers and how proud he is that these regulars are great people - it's true! He's got a great cast of gentlemen sitting out front swapping stories and smoking stogies, I swear it's like what I imagine old Havana to be like! This is definitely my new official cigar spot, check it out! Pro-tip there is a back patio!

This is more of a corner store rather than a cigar place…read more The humidor consists of a cabinet and two small humidors. I think their focus is mainly selling singles and cigarettes and other knick knacks. The sales person had no idea about cigars and just opened up the cabinet for me to have a look. Pricing is OK. A word of caution though their main humidor's was quite dry with humidity gauge showing its well below the recommend relative humidity level i.e. a dry cigar probably. The smaller humidors showed the right level of humidity. Not much of a variety here just your mainstream Cuban cigars and with a very limited range.
