One associate was checking out a customer. After the sale was complete the customer started chatting about her experience with Amazon. I waited patiently on the couch for several minutes, yet the associate continued to engage with the other customer instead of saying, "I'm sorry, I have another customer to assist." Even when I got up and returned my selections to their perspective shelves, there was no acknowledgement of my presence. I will take my dollars elsewhere.

Unable to find it, I noticed several large plastic bins beneath the clothing rack and walked around to the other side to see what was there. At that point, the associate approached me and made a point of informing me that the shirts were French-made silk and cost well over $250. As I was walking away from the area, my partner subsequently went to the same spot and began looking through the bins, which were in plain view and easily accessible. The associate briskly asked if she could help. When he replied that he was seeing what was there, she forcefully responded, "Didn't you see the sign?" referring to a small, handwritten "Staff Only" sign above the bins. She then added, with a snarky tone, that she "wouldn't have customers digging through bins." This was not merely poor customer service; it was condescending, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. A sales associate's job is to assist customers, not reprimand or belittle them for looking at merchandise openly accessible on the sales floor. A simple, courteous explanation would have sufficed. Instead, we were made to feel as though we had done something wrong simply by shopping. Perhaps making a sale should have taken priority over alienating potential customers. Particularly disappointing in a city as welcoming as Palm Springs. Apparently, this sales associate has never seen the Rodeo Drive scene in Pretty Woman...

I strutted in confidently.... no hesitation, no second-guessing... straight to the men's shoe section. I know Tod's makes a quality product, and that's exactly why I was there. I spotted the sneaker I wanted right away... real leather with suede accents, super sleek, exactly my vibe. I turned to the male salesperson and said, "I need a size 7 in this one," pointing right at the shelf. And then... he paused. Like, hard pause. "Oh! Is this for yourself?" he asked. "Yes, it is," I replied--still calm, cool, collected. He looked confused and immediately tried to redirect me... pointing me toward the women's section. Nonplussed, I told him, "No, this is for me. Yes, I'm shopping in the men's section. Is there a problem here? ." And that's when his whole vibe shifted. He went into this high-and-mighty, better-than-thou mode, and honestly, it threw me. I've never experienced that kind of energy before--not even in high-end stores. you already know you're spending $250 and up on a pair of shoes, easily. The pair I wanted was actually marked down to $279 from $600, so yes.. I saw that as a win and was ready to buy. He reluctantly brought me the size 7, and surprise--it was too big. Turns out Tod's shoes run large, and I actually needed a men's size 6. (Good thing I tried it on.) His attitude didn't change much the entire time. Huffing, puffing, acting like I didn't belong there. Only toward the end did he finally soften a bit--but by that point, it was too late. And unfortunately, the size I needed in the color I wanted wasn't available after all. So no shoes for me, and a whole lot of attitude I didn't sign up for. Bottom line: Product? 10/10. Customer service? 3 out of 10. And that's exactly why my overall rating for this store experience drops to a 3 stars. A shame, really--because I wanted to buy.
