Ranging from tiny to tall, slim to extra thick and beyond this very all-inclusive body-positive men's clothing shop is tucked at the far east end of Arenas Rd next to Rough Trade. They have great employees and a good online shop, though nothing compared to what's in stock. It is more boutique style (which feels more inviting though slightly hard to navigate during weekends and peak hours with more bodies in the store shopping away) in size but very long in layout with clothing, swimwear, accessories, socks, and underwear on every wall and rack visible. Great novelty items, t-shirts, and even some adult toys as well making it a very well-rounded shop. I think they had a lot of new items in and wanted to super stock for the weekend I came in, which is great but in a smaller space... It definitely felt even smaller. I come through this shop every time I'm in Palm Springs. They have quality merchandise. Though a small space, there is a great variety to choose from. They carry many sizes, some up to a 5x. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Though it is predominantly meant for men, I bought a really nice pair of shorts here that fit really nice. Give this place a try if you're in town. So we entered into the store and were very excited about some cute items, we picked up some for myself and some for my friends as gifts, we asked the owner is there any sale or because of the amount of items I'm buying is there like a discount and then the owner said "No, we are not in Egypt, and I can even increase prices if I want". And he just went on and on and my friend and I felt attacked so we left the store without buying anything. Cute store. They have some gay bear themed clothing. I found they had more standard size clothing compared to bear size (2x +) options which I was confusing. I was expecting lots of bigger clothes, cute swim wear, and a larger underwear selection. A lot of mens underwear places only carry up to XL but a lot of nicer underwear brands carry XXL or larger and there are more bear brands that Bear Wear could carry. My barber Nick who previously worked on Sundays for Bear Ware suggested I check out the store. Rory greeted me and was very warm and friendly. I had an amazing experience shopping in the store. I needed some positive reinforcement on my selection of some new swim wear. Rory made the experience so fun and rewarding. Although I felt the $72 price tag was too much, I ended up buying two swim trunks. Sometimes you just have to have it! I will definitely be back as I live here now. Terrible service. The owner is inept and completely unprofessional and unable to operate a business as it should be. I purchased something at their store, and 20 MINUTES after I got home and opened it, I immediately noticed a foul, strong body odor coming from the item. I simply wanted an exchange, but after calling, I quickly realized there was no phone number to the store. Now that is super SHADY! WHO RUNS A BRICK AND MORTAR STORE AND DOESN'T HAVE A DIRECT PHONE NUMBER TO IT??? Immediate red flag. I don't know about you, but this is EXTREMELY bizarre and suggests right off that after a supposed 5 years in business they're STILL not a full functioning retail store with no idea how to service customers. I finally got ahold of someone at their other location and was told to go back to the original store and that the person their would be able to help me regardless of no direct store number. Help, he did NOT. If you consider someone telling you that after working there for nearly 5 years that they had ZERO authority to do a simple exchange, help, then you need to go back to business school and learn how to hire and delegate authority. How do you work there for 5 years and not have any authority to do a simple exchange on a 20.00 item???? I mean, it's LAUGHABLE, right??? He was in his 60s and had worked there for nearly 5 years!! He wasn't 19 and a fresh hire. So, you open a store, and the only way to exchange something is to contact the owner? Now THAT is red flag number 2. So, the guy hands me a piece of paper with a guys name on it and tells me I need to contact him but wait... it gets better... the guy gives me a name, but NO PHONE NUMBER TO HIM EITHER! Red flag #3. He also tells me that he's conveniently OUT OF THE COUNTRY AND HAS NO IDEA WHEN HE WILL RETURN! So, now we're at red flag #4! No direct phone number to the store, no one on site EVER to do an exchange, No one to contact with a phone number, No idea when they will return. No customer service. Just the run around and attitude. I'll tell you... if Mr. Macy ran his business like this there would not be a Macy's to this day! This company is doomed to fail. To top it all off, the owner attacks me online without taking any responsibility for any of this on his other Yelp listing accusing me of being rude and telling me to shop elsewhere and then blocks all future reviews from that listing so no one else can write a review or for me to respond. So many red flags. Here's a bit of advice sir... if you want to continue to be in business, you should learn to treat every single person who walks into your store with respect. You should learn about customer service and educate your employees on the how to's and all protocol regarding good customer service. You should always have someone trained on staff at any given moment who can handle a simple exchange. No harm no foul, right??? But Noooooo. This guy wants to turn the table on me and accuse the customer of being rude. It's a 20.00 dollar item sir! If you have a serious problem with training someone to do a simple exchange or refunding an item for 20.00 due to the foul smelling circumstances, then you must REALLY need the 20.00. We should start a Go Fund me page for you. So, that way a 20.00 item today can result in a 200.00 purchase for you tomorrow. Anyone who is seriously successful in business can tell you that. My God, the stupidity here is ASTOUNDING! So, yes, I will take my business elsewhere, where it is appreciated. You are going to go under anyway. Bad customer service alone will do it not to mention how you will survive with online mega retailers like Amazon and others putting you out of business every day, for good, which is for the best since you do NOT know how to treat a customer or run a business. Thanks for your attack on my character having never met me over a 20.00 item when all you had to do was get a direct phone line to your store, have someone on site do a simple exchange, give someone your cell phone number to work the issues out, or better yet... provide even decent customer service, but you don't seem to be able to do any of those simple, basic, every day tasks associated with running a business, period. We live in Las Vegas , visit Palm springs on a regular basis , can't go with out a stop or two to shop at bear wear , never leave without purchasing things from the extensive and fun inventory and sizes are a plus , we are both sizes , XL and XXXL on most items . As a big person, it's very difficult to walk into a store and find a nice selection of clothing to fit you. But at Bear Wear, they carry sizes from Small to 6-XLg (and higher for certain items). I almost made the mistake of thinking that this place wasn't for me. I'm not a bear. I don't know what I am, but I'm tall and have a 34" waist and I manscape regularly. And the guys I go for are generally really lean and smooth. I say this only to make a point... On "paper" I'm the opposite of what you'd expect of the clientele... yet the owner couldn't have made me feel more comfortable, more welcome, and more chill. They carry sizes from small to several-X-L, they carry a wide variety of clothing styles, from ultra-modern to "classic", lots of different cool little things. The selection is not as varied as their neighbors for some things, but the personal service received is beyond compare. Rude! Things must be going great in the niche retail market in Palm Springs for the owner to be so condescending and obnoxious to customers. I've bought things here over the past year or so. Not a lot, maybe $200-300 worth, including a pair of shorts that I put on for the first time today that were too large. I went by to try on another pair in a smaller size to see if I should exchange them. The owner immediately started complaining and giving excuses why I couldn't. He asked if I had farted in them and then said he could tell if I had. Seriously. My husband was being friendly and said, "I bought this here 2 years ago," referring to the shirt he was currently wearing. The guy replied, "Tough shit, you can't return it." Really?!? That's how you treat a returning customer? We were planning on going back and plunking down a pretty decent amount for a kilt, but not after that. The jerk took customer loyalty for granted and killed his own repeat sales. Interesting marketing strategy. I'll never go back. read more

This guy is a tool. Bought a pair of shorts, did not wear them and tried to return them 24 hours later. The ridiculous store rep started quoting BS about how he couldn't legally return them. You could tell he was just making up excuses on the fly since he looked at the item and took a while to drum up an answer. If you ever needed an example of the benefits of going corporate rather than local gay businesses, this is it. Clearly shady and looking out for the short term. "Community"? Clearly not. These guys are great!!! Not only is this a cool shop with an incredible selection, but the service is second to none. We visited Palm Springs looking for something specific for a party in Puerto Vallarta and even though they didn't have it in stock they stayed in touch with us with new items. At the last minute they got some new items that were perfect. They sent me multiple photos making sure they were right for us and then sent overnight so we'd have the in time for our trip. In addition they helped us order some custom suits from Brazil so we could have the exact colors we wanted. I'd highly recommend Bear Wear to anyone in or out of Palm Springs. read more
