I will confess that a visit to the butcher isn't exactly part of my daily routine, in fact I think it's been years since I've been to one. I seem to recall that on my last visit to a butcher I was wearing my elementary school uniform and still referring to someone as 'mummy'. However, I still have a little bit of knowledge on the subject and I know for a fact that this particular butchery is big. I can only think of one other in Brisbane that may be larger (Patton's Big Gun in Underwood).
The large room is spacious but lined with fridges full of every cut of meat under the sun (or protected from it in air-conditioned comfort). I didn't see any exotic meats, it was mainly variations of pork, chicken and beef, but they came in any shape or form you could possibly want. The room at the back where they prepare and package everything is also visible from the front, which I find somewhat comforting as well as a little gross to look at. read more
