We searched for the best wings in Tampa on Yelp and Hattricks came up and definitely did not disappoint. Located conveniently right across the street from Tampa's free trolly the sports bar was very crowded on Friday early evening- we easily found a seat at the bar but they appeared to be on a wait by the time we left. I typically enjoy Hattricks, but tonight's experience was too bizarre not to share. My friends and I went in for a quick bite and 2 out of 3 of us ordered 10 wings & the 3rd person ordered 6. Simple, right? The waitress accidentally brought out 10. No big deal --mistakes happen. We figured she'd just made a mistake or was just being nice. After eating about 3-4 wings we informed her of the error. She assured us it was her bad and that my friend could just keep the extra 4. A few seconds later, mid bite, the manager comes over and tells her that when she finishes her 6, they'll be back to take the other 4. If she ate any of the other 4, she would've been charged for 10. Imagine she'd accidentally eaten 7 before she noticed? It was extremely awkward and made us uncomfortable. Even worse, it felt like they waited around to ensure that we wouldn't sneak any extra --like a wing warden. Food? Solid. Drinks? Good. Waitress? Friendly and apologetic. Wow! I am shocked and appalled by my experience. Upon arriving after the lightening game, I was welcomed by other patrons to an open seat near the bar with my friend and ordered drinks with a server. Upon exiting the women's restroom, I stopped by the bar to order another drink when a fellow patron pushed by me aggressively, spilling my drink because I was a fan of the opposing team. After verbally reaffirming the reason I was pushed with the aggressor (6ft white male) was because I was a Buffalo Sabres fan, I pushed them back and the guy laughed my face. I walked away to go back to my friend and this guy went to complain about me to the large, male bouncer. The bouncer talked to me and allowed me to go back to my party with my friend holding our seats. Afterwards, the bouncer reapproached my friend and I, requesting us to leave, which we did without hesitation. As a 5'2 woman, I felt gaslighted and afraid for my safety because I simply stood up for myself and would not allow the 6ft man to assault me because I'm a fan of the opposing, winning team. LADIES, DO NOT GO HERE as your safety will not be a priority and when you stand up for yourself, you'll be asked to leave. read more

Hattricks is a Tampa staple for any sports fan, especially my fellow Bolts fans. Located only minutes from Amalie makes this place my go to each time, if I'm lucky enough to find a table or spot at the bar. Trust me when I tell you to get the wings, Dave's way of course! The buffalo chicken dip is incredible, loaded with huge chunks of chicken! Beer selection is great. My only gripe is the service can be a bit slower but that's expected of such a busy place. Great sports bar if you're into hockey or any other sports in the area. They have a very interesting menu full of lots of things I wouldn't have expected to get there. I had the vegetable beef soup which was good although a little bit on the salty side. I also had the chicken wings two different styles I would check them more authentic chicken wings which they're the ones they want awards for which were the best. Also got to try their fries with gravy and duck which was good but a bit on the salty side. The staff was very nice and although I wasn't drinking alcohol they refilled my water as often as needed. TVs literally everywhere making there no bad seat in the house. We came for the ambiance and wings and neither disappointed. Lucky for us Miami played Friday night and we made it just in time for happy hour (4pm-8pm dine in only). We leaned on the locals for this one and tried their wings Dave's Way and I'm now convinced there's no other way. They were baked to the right amount of crisp and tossed in a garlic parmesan Buffalo type sauce making them damn near perfect.
