Overpriced. Unimpressed. I won a "free pet portrait session" at an animal charity event. I was super excited to get a great photo of my dog. I called to schedule an appointment and right away I was told the $300 value was for a sitting fee and in order to set the appointment I need to pay an additional $150 for three portrait package. Against my better judgment I went ahead and paid the fee and set the appointment. By the time everything was all said and done I think Jennifer offered me maybe a 12 portrait package for over $800. I told her that my girlfriend recently had head shots done in Los Angeles with a professional photographer who did her hair and makeup and provided her with over 500 retouched digital images for less than that - and she spent over half the day with him. Jennifer seemed unimpressed. And to be honest I am unimpressed with the photos we received at the price we paid. I ended up paying almost $400 for 6 digital photos and two 8x10's (and that's not including the $300 "value" or credit.) I should've wrote a review back when I had the service done but I kind of blew it off. And then this morning I saw her giant mobile billboard in front of Chapparal Dog Park and felt like I need to share my experience . I just want others to beware. read more

Jennifer is a wonderfully gifted photographer. I cannot say enough about my experience with her. She was professional, yet personable and she had such a way with my girls that the entire experience was enjoyable from beginning to end. The studio was clean and professional, yet pet friendly. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I won a "500 gift card" through a local vet in Scottsdale (putting my info in a box and then getting selected). Jennifer reached out, it was hard getting a hold of each other but once we got full contact it was obvious that the lady had zero interest in working with me. She would always say she was gonna give me a "call" to talk about the "process" and failed every time to follow through. I responded back in a interested and nice way so on my end I did nothing wrong but on her end Very unprofessional, go spend your money somewhere else. If you aren't willing to want to give someone a gift card worth of 500 bucks then don't advertise it saying you "won" in the first place. please do better. read more

I recently had a photoshoot with Jennifer and my boyfriend and chihuahua. He is a spastic little dude and has anxiety when put in new situations. Jennifer got him to focus and actually look at the camera and sit still for a few seconds to shoot a bunch of great pictures! I have no idea how she did it! That's why she's the pro. Her studio was clean, comfortable, very updated/modern and she had a ton of props to choose from. This was a great experience, I highly recommend Jennifer, and I will treasure my family photos forever. Also you get what you pay for - professionally shot/edited photos. This is not a low cost service but I think they were worth it - just be prepared for mild sticker shock. read more

I LOVE the photos that Jennifer captured of me and my dog Jake. She knew exactly how to get him to "smile" and caught the gleam in his eyes. I also appreciate that she was able to make me look good too! The photos are extra special to me now that Jake has passed away. I went there with my two Akita's to have photos taken for a calendar. Everyone was polite and accommodating and the photographer (Jennifer) took some really good photo's. I really only went there for the calendar shoot and I expected she would pitch an up-sell at some point, but I didn't expect $700.00+ for 9 photos! Maybe this is just the going rate, or what she thinks her photo's are worth, but it seemed a bit steep to me. I've seen photographers get $200 for a group of photo's, but I thought her stuff was a bit overpriced. She does good work, but be ready for a sticker shock... read more

I love my dogs pictures I'm so excited for them to be finished! We received a groupon for a Christmas gift! Jennifer is very good with the dogs and the pawrents! We had a good time getting our dogs to pose on such cute lil furniture!! For everyone crying about the prices I'm pretty sure you knew what you were getting into! Jennifer was great to work with, a little pushy about what we could and could not wear, but we tried to take it in stride. The photo shoot itself went okay, although both my dogs were stressed out most of the time and the studio was boiling hot, so all our faces are shiny (not a good look). The real shock came at the end, when I found out that it was going to cost me over $1,000 for the digital rights to my photos, not including the siting fee, photo prints, and taxes!! Those crazy overpriced photo packages turned an otherwise okay experience into a painful nightmare. I ended up not getting my digital photos or even the canvas prints I wanted (she charges $300 each, when I can buy them online for $30!). In the end, I paid an absurd amount of money ($500!) for a few 8x10 photo prints I didn't want rather than walk away empty handed. I feel cheated and very disappointed. read more

Jennifer is kind, personable and an amazing photographer. She really does know all of the tricks to get your pets to look at the camera and show their expressions and personality. I have three dogs, two of which are 50+ pounds, and bringing them all into the dog-friendly studio did not phase her one bit. She allowed our girls to take their time and sniff around the place before turning down the lights and instructing us on what to do, sit/stay, down/stay, etc. One of my dogs did not want to stay, so I did hold her leash during her one-on-one shots, but Jennifer removed the leash afterwards and the editing looks awesome - like there was never a leash there at all! Jennifer truly means "No sit, no stay? No problem!" Overall, my experience with Hatton Pet Portrait Studio was exceptional and I would highly recommend her services to other pet parents. read more

My wife and I wanted a portrait done of Maggie, our Poodle. The plan was to just shoot the dog, but Jennifer talked my wife into a couple of shots holding Maggie. Phenomenal! I now have a keepsake of both of them together. Jennifer has not just a very good eye for photography, but that exquisite sense of timing of when to snap the shutter to capture the perfect dog expression or gesture. Jennifer took pictures of myself with my very anxious husky for work, and all the pictures turned out amazing. I began thinking about getting professional pictures taken of my horse, along with some separate shots of my husband and the experience was hands down fantastic. She took amazing shots, was patient with some spooked horses, and took great care in my comfort. She even brought apples for the horses.The prices are a small comparison when perfection was taken. This experience was fantastic! My sister and our two dogs had a photo shoot together. Jennifer as great with the dogs. She has both feeling comfortable in the studio and didn't get upset when one or both were cooperating very well. At the end she helped with pick out which photos were best for us. I love my pics. Getting still photos of my two dogs is not easy. I worked with Hatton Photography on a price and photo package I liked; it had to include a CD of the photos. Wonderful experience!! We won a photo session from the monthly website drawing and were thrilled for the opportunity to have professional photographs of our pup, Mahlow. The studio is very cool, fun and comfortable and Jen is definitely fun, easy to work with and really knows her stuff! She knew exactly what to do with Mahlow and got all of us into position quickly and easily before he got distracted. Every pic was fantastic and of course we couldn't resist buying a bunch of them.
