if you read my previous review there was one thing missing, Cheese Whiz! I took to Twitter to…read moreright this wrong, and Mark's Grill responded. Cheese Whiz is now on the menu! I've been to Pat's in Philly several times, which is what I consider the real deal, and Mark's is making a solid effort. They ship in the Amoroso rolls from Philly is a big help, bread matters a lot for a sandwich and bread's taste is dependent on the local water. A++ for the effort. The steak is the correct kind and cooked properly. Peppers and/or onions are optional, I complained before that they were a bit al-dente before and the last ones we got were cooked more, so I think they are listening to feedback. Of course, don't forget the Cheese Whiz which to me makes the sandwich. Any hot sandwich can be improved by adding more Cheese Whiz. If man-made cheese-like product is not your thing, provolone is an option. They serve other stuff too, I'm not sure why anyone would care when there are cheese steaks on Amoroso rolls with Cheese Whiz, but to each their own. The hand cut fries are a nice side dish. The gyro sandwich is good, only 4-star good. Haven't tried the hot dog yet. They seem to have regular spots at WKNO in Cordova on Thursdays, and Shelby Farms on Sundays. Otherwise watch twitter to see where they show up next.

I love food trucks. And I love philly cheese steaks!…read more So I finally tried MarksGrille for the first time when they were at the Highland Church in Cordova last week. I was super psyched about trying it, since I've only heard good things. However, I was a little disappointed. While the portion was a GREAT size, lots of meat, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms.... The sandwich was LOADED with salt. I couldn't even eat one half of the sandwich because of how salty it was. I'm guessing it was the seasoning they used... But the same goes for the fries. The fries were so salty that my mouth literally started watering and it was pretty difficult to eat the fries too. I will have to try it again. One more time. Because I believe in second chances! Will be sure to update my review if it's better than last time!

Most important, the food was REALLY good. I didn't really understand the menu at first, and the man…read morebehind the counter wasn't very friendly. He told me their chips and salsa aren't like what you get in most Mexican restaurants, and that they make their salsa in house. I was confused, because I was like, What do you mean your chips and salsa aren't like chips and salsa? But I get it now, and they really aren't. The chips are totopos, and the salsa is a very flavorful, thin pureed sauce that has been cooked or roasted-- not sure exactly how they make it, but there is cooking and technique involved for sure. They were SO GOOD. So delicious-- I have an Oaxaca restaurant nearish me, and now I can't wait to try it. I ordered the ceviche, which came with the totopos. I asked for more salsa verde and glad I did. They do charge for extra salsa (if your order comes with it, they give you a little of each the red and green). Glad I did because it was SO GOOD. I licked the container for real. If I ever come back to Covington it would be to come here and have the exact same thing. I took a star off because I didn't like the service.

Orders are always ready when they say. The only reason I'm not giving a 5-star rating is because I recently veered off from street tacos (of which I'm a connoisseur, if I do say so myself) to try other menu items and I wasn't all that impressed. I'd recommend sticking to the street tacos, which are amazing every time. Great job, Jose (or whatever your name actually is :).
