I've been here no less than a dozen times (what took me so long to post a review???) - I personally am not a beer person, but I've ever heard anyone find a beer they didn't like here. For non-beer drinkers, they do have cocktails & sangrias. I recently had the cherry limeade cocktail- I hope it stays on the menu. They've started providing food - yum!!!!! We had the pizza, pretzel w/ cheese & mustard, & cinnamon sugar pretzel. Everything was Perfect!! Cinnamon sugar pretzel was gone in minutes. Brilliant idea: you can order from Sky Fox & it'll be delivered to Hatchet. As you walk in, there is a person from Sky Fox who will take your order from the menu. They mainly have pizza plus their pretzel.. but if you would like some food food there is a restaurant down the street you can order some limited food from. There's a person who is sitting at the front taking orders for you and they will deliver it for you. We sat outside bc the weather was perfect.. before we left they were playing music bingo. read more

Love this place. We go here all the time with our two Huskies and everyone is so friendly and goes out of their way to make sure our dogs have water and get some pets. They love it here too. This place does things right! From the beer to the service to the ambience, it is perfect. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon when a group of friends. Early afternoon, there were other patrons but it wasn't too busy. As the day progressed and into the evening, it got more and more busy, as you would expect for a Saturday. You can tell that this place is a local staple to the nightlife scene, as they have various activities each night. On Saturdays, there was a food truck outside and they played music bingo. Our initial goal was to try every beer on the menu because we had heard so much about the different options. We failed in our mission, but made it pretty far... there are simply too many options to try them all! I lived every beer, but my favorite were the DILLIGAF, the hazy morning, and the combat honey. Super popular brewery with a fun kid and dog friendly atmosphere. Bartender were attentive and kept everyone in supply of their beverages of choice. They have a long list of beers, wines, ciders, and frozen slushies. Prices range from $6.50 and up. We like the Belgium Trippel but definitely on the higher price range at $10. I liked the peach wheat beer, the IPA my husband got was not his favorite. Recommend trying a flight to find the beer you like here. read more

I was in the area for my geocaching/adventure lab hobby and loved stopping by this place adjacent to the quaint downtown area. This is one of 3 current breweries in the area. A flight is the usual order and they had plenty to choose from! Stand-outs were the sours and a rye ale. They also had a ample selection of ciders and wines. They had 3 seating choices of bar, table or patio - and railroad entertainments! Don't forget to count the cars! Friendly staff and brewers were on hand to share their vision for their wares and where to find them. It seems their offerings are expanding soon. Definitely worth a visit. read more

My friend and I walked from Southern Pines Brewing to Hatchet (work off that beer!). It was probably close to a mile. They have outdoor seating with shade, but it was a pretty Sunday afternoon and full. There was plenty of space indoors as they have quite a few tables, but we grabbed stools by the window. They seem to have a decent beer selection for where they're located. You can buy 4-packs, but can't mix and match which I'd hoped for. They have snacks you can buy for $1 (and thank goodness because I was fading) and they schedule food trucks. We both got flights, but the beer was just average. It's worth at least stopping by if you're in the area. read more

Visiting over the holidays, my MIL was excited to take us to the newest brewery that had opened since our last trip - enter Hatchet Brewing. The space is super cute - and SUPER loud - but we were excited to see a variety of beer style offerings on their menu. My favorite part? IT IS DOG FRIENDLY! YES! I was missing my babies back home and Opie served as my surrogate furfriend on this visit. (thanks, Opie and fam!) The beers were pretty good - and they offer flights. My MIL is a wheat beer/light beer person and she thoroughly enjoyed the Shake that Axe Lager. We also liked the Cinnamon Girl and the Fauxtoberfest. The stout was a little sharp for us - but just our opinion. I didn't foot the bill (thanks, hubs!) so I cannot speak to the cost of the beers. No food on site, but menu on the table indicated that you could order in from the nearby Sly Fox for munchies. All in all - we will return when in town again. read more

My fiancé and I come here often! Large indoor space that is extremely dog friendly! They also have a large selection of board games inside. The outdoor patio is great! Plenty of space if you have a big group. Also a good option if you have people in your group that don't like beer as they serve cider and wine as well! Bartenders are always very nice. They also have events going on frequently and there is almost always a food truck! Definitely would recommend checking it out. read more

My husband and I were trying to find a low key, relaxed place in DTSP. We found it! Not only is the owner a veteran but they are dog friendly! We came to celebrate Veterans Day and had a great time and even found a new favorite beer. They have a lot of events and music. New local brewery in Southern Pines. It's been open a couple of weeks and I hope they succeed but they need to adjust their pricing, $8 for a 14 ounce pour is a bit steep for the area. I live in NYC where the average IPA draft beer is $8 but they give you a full 16 ounces. I thought that the idea of a local craft brewery was to promote their product at a fair price? I guess the buildout cost of the place needs to be recouped? Cool vibe with a great outdoor deck space which accommodates dogs. The NE IPA was very tasty but no better than the one at the Railhouse Brewery in Aberdeen which is only $6 for 16 ounces. read more

Never in my life have I enjoyed bar trivia as I don't revel in being made to feel like a moron, HOWEVER, trivia at Hatchet is a welcome reprieve from the norm. Trivia is not great, well, the new host is terrible actually. Trivia night was something to look forward to each week but the new host is combative. The questions do not have one answer and she speeds through them like it is speed dating or something. Get a new host and more people will come. read more

Good beer and decent atmosphere. I prefer Hatchet Brewing's beers to Southern Pines Brewing. However, the in house selection is currently limited to four beers. Hatchet doesn't have its own IPA yet either. However, they have some great guest beers and Hatchet will gradually get more of their own beers as they get up to fully mission capable. You can get food delivered from the Sky Fox, so that's cool. Oh yeah, guy can bring your dog too! read more
